Absolutely loved your post. I'm glad someone put this up and more so, because it came from you, someone whose topics I personally enjoy. The writers are just throwing away things here and there with regards to Maya's mental illness. It's so difficult to be able to categorise her or even make a guess at what could be her condition because everything is just all over the place.

I can only go as far as saying that she seems to be a case of multiple mental/personality disorders. There's not just one but quite a complicated mess of many conditions put together. Not too sure but I have read that people with certain kind of mental conditions who haven't received timely treatment, weren't treated right or didn't receive treatment at all are prone to violence at later stages.

But if they put it all on depression in the end, I might punch someone in the face. 😳

For sure Psychopaths learn to have relationships that benefit them but I am not sure if Arjun is beneficial to her in that sense. In the last few episodes you may have seen that she is now standing up to Ashwin on her own. She found that strength through seeing Arjun confront him, but she isn't exactly using him.

Additionally, Psychopaths are born in like this while Maya's environment made her like this (like a Sociopath). This is the most important thing that stops me from thinking that she is a Psychopath. Because I think she fits all other characteristics, such as smart, cunning, very little regard for right and wrong, will stop at nothing once she knows what she wants and etc.

Until I read your comment, I thought her attachment to her mother is something that also doesn't classify her as a Psychopath BUT, you've got me thinking...

Maya is a traumatized person, she is also a lonely person, having her mother by her side is beneficial to her, it keeps her sane and so, she will never let her mother leave. Lets face it, she is abusive to her mother too. She locks her up to stop her from leaving, threatens and more. But when this happens, she reacts in a impulsive, hot headed manner, i.e. a Sociopath.

So that being said, is her attachment to her mother love? Or a Psychopath/Sociopath who knows that the only reason of her sanity is her mother and therefore she cannot ever let her leave. And is it a similar thing with Arjun too now?

^Just a thought, pretty sure it isn't like this (disagreeing with my own theory 😆) but its an alternative way that one can perceive Maya's character.

And who knows, you may have met a psychopath but you might not have even known, they're extremely smart. 😆
