The sighting comes days after reports that his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam filed for divorce, seeking to end their 27 year marriage. In the widely shared clip, Vijay steps out of a car holding a bouquet while Trisha walks a few steps behind him. Both are dressed in traditional outfits suited for the reception setting. The event was hosted for the son of film producer Kalpathi Suresh and Meenakshi, whose family is known in Tamil cinema’s production and distribution circles. In her filing, Sangeetha has alleged that Vijay was involved in an extramarital relationship with a female actor. The filing further claims that Vijay had assured her the relationship would end, but it allegedly continued. The petition also states that there was no sign of regret despite repeated discussions.
