Actor Adah Sharma has responded to questions about her absence from the sequel to The Kerala Story. The actor, whose performance in the first film received strong public attention, recently addressed the issue after weeks of speculation around why she is not part of the second instalment.
When the sequel was announced and her name did not appear in the cast, many viewers expressed surprise online. Discussions quickly followed on fan pages and entertainment forums, with some asking whether the actor had declined the project or if she had not been approached for the follow up film.
Sharma had remained silent since the sequel was announced and even after its release. Speaking about the matter now, she explained why she avoided commenting earlier. She said, “I enjoy speaking about a film I am part of. When I’m not a part of a film, I feel speaking about it just to be in the news isn’t right. Whether I was offered the sequel or not is something that should remain between the makers and the actor and not really be discussed publicly. The first part was about ISIS camps in Afghanistan and showed step by step how an innocent girl ends up becoming a terrorist. Part 2 is a completely different story".
Her statement suggests that the sequel explores a different narrative direction compared to the first film. The original project generated wide conversation at the time of its release, and Sharma’s character became one of the key talking points among audiences discussing the storyline and performances.
Responding to fans who said they missed seeing her in the new film and asked about comparisons between the two instalments, Sharma acknowledged their support. She said, “My audience loves me a lot. They want to see me in every movie. They accept me in every role right from my debut with ‘1920’ where I was so scary to ‘The Kerala Story’ where I’m sweet to Sunflower where I’m wicked".
Looking ahead, the actor has several projects in development. These include a biographical film, an action project and a horror title. Sharma recently shared visuals from a prosthetic makeup session connected to the horror film, which quickly circulated among her followers online.
