I'm sure I may not be the only one who at this stage feels like to watch the next 10 episodes in one go. I'm quite content with the way the show is going, from the story/plot to characters to direction to all of it, it's running quite good, IMO. Plus, the brilliantly done promos, the take the latest one for example keeps the viewers looking forward to more and raises the curiosity levels to a great deal. It had me almost jump in excitement because again, how brilliant was it? Whoa. 😳
Coming to the episodes since my last post, time and again we're being told there's so much more to Maya than what we're speculating. At this point, my only complaint would be they need to move beyond those birthday flashbacks Maya has every time she is confronted with Ashwin because it diminishes the effect they're trying to establish by saying how Maya's past is unimaginably scary, dark and murkier. Until today's episode especially, I assumed Maya to be a victim and a victim alone of her past but turns out she's done something in her past that if revealed to the world, she'd be rendered unworthy of love, respect, admiration, sympathy and support.
I can't place my finger on what exactly could that be but as Shruthi explains beautifully here it could either be that she's been unsuccessfully treated for the mental condition/illness she is suffering from (as a result of her being made to convince that she's insane) or it could be something entirely different. Something tells me, it could be a criminal action (of sorts). Maya being the only daughter also sparks some suspicion. Didn't Jhanvi is said to have suffered a miscarriage? Could Maya have a role to play in that? The reference Ashwin made about her facade hiding her real deeds, how her clothes may be white but her heart is made of charcoal, how Maya admits while pleading for Jhanvi's health that God should punish her for the sins she's committed makes me feel as if Ashwin and Maya are the sprouts of the same seed. Equally devious, equally menacing, equally sinned.
Also, Maya is shown to be carrying a knife and a pair of handcuffs in the latest promo. That suggests something, does it not? I think that kind fits well with my theory. Another alternative theory with subject to the confession alone, Arjun is going to be handcuffed with Maya for life if he says yes to her proposal. Handcuffs also means no freedom, note that. And if he says no, Maya would either attempt to kill herself or kill Arjun (she's capable of both, honestly) thus putting knife into perspective/use.
Now, you may wonder why all of my topics of discussion are on Maya? Honestly, do you blame me? I have a liking for complex, intriguing and multi-dimensional characters. More than 50% of the forum also seems to be intrigued by Maya. In that case, aren't we all Arjun's too? 🤣 Anyhoo, I feel equally for Saanjh (if not more). You know what a beauty Saanjh is when she's willing to comfort a person through a hug who practically waved knife in her face. No worries, Saanjh, one day Maya will herself realize how unfairly she's treated you. The times now and the times ahead are a test to her patience, self-worth and friendship. I have no doubts that she will come out a winner in all of the tests meant for her but in the process, the poor girl will have her heart teared apart. I liked how Ayan is standing by Saanjh-Arjun, he may not be in focus but he's playing the role of much needed support system. Prem, Suman and Vandana send out some major parents/family goals. I also liked how we got a glimpse of Arjun's past too, having seen him shaken up in the memories of his past shows how human beings aren't ever one-dimensional characters. Humans are layers and layers of an enigma.
