As said above, comparing Islam to another relogion is not practical.90% of muslims still read their holy books (almost everyday) and follow them.
So while they follow everything else the religion says, they have to follow and accept these too. One law among hundred can't be expelled for the sake of likes and dislikes of a few followers.
