Are the writers making it up as they go along?

Hi everyone,

Okay, so i haven't created this topic to bash the show. I've been a huge fan of the show and the actors. I'm just here to express my disappointment and frustration about what the show has turned into.

It started off as something promising, intriguing, entertaining. Mahek Chahal as Manjulika was amazing. The storyline seemed interesting too. But as time went on, I feel like the writers didn't know where they were taking it and with the exits and situations surrounding the actors, they started making it up as they went along.

I think a lot of it has to do with first Maheks injury, they had to work around that so they changed the storyline (e.g. bringing Saudamini into the show much earlier than they anticipated). Then there was Maheks exit and replacement (that itself left a big hole in the show). The focus of the show shifted from Manjulika being the main villain on a quest, to being all about Saudamini, and now we're at a point where Manjulika is hardly seen in the show (this could be due to Sara Khan leaving India to shoot for her new Pakistani serial).

The storylines have been weak, completely illogical and ridiculous. Let's not get started on the family and Rajbeer who are probably the most stupid and annoying family I've watched on Indian television...

Let me give you some examples...

  • Rajbeer was possessed and held hostage by Manjulika in the old mansion in the early episodes but now he's suddenly forgotten that and says he doesn't believe in all this black magic and spirits.
  • The dad gets attacked by Pari, then all of a sudden changes his story and says it wasn't her and then never says or does anything after despite knowing Saudamini is back.
  • Rajbeers sister (forgot her name) - her fiance is still missing and dead. No mention of him. Sure the dad passed away, but did the mum forget she has a son who went away and never came back?
  • The family like to hold parties for no particular reason every few episodes and don't seem to have a life.
  • How no one has realised Bhai Saa is actually dead? Saudamini isn't in her 24/7 is she? So what about the other times?
  • How Pari randomly declares "oh,i want marry Rajbeer again even though we got married 6 months ago" and everyone happily goes along like that's normal because they all share a single brain cell between them all.
  • How Pari has so many opportunities to tell her family what's going on without the spirits knowing, but doesn't. Never mind that, with everything that goes on, how does the family not realise!?
  • The silly things they make up about spirits and how to solve problems (trap her in a ring, wear it, marry again, throw the ring in the fire etc)
  • And why do we have to keep being reminded a gazzilion times that the two spirits are Peshachinis!!! So damn annoying.. we get it! lol

The character Shakti - initially started off as being useless. He was hardly around and just stood in the background hardly saying anything with a few dialogues when he was. The actor who plays him must have clearly complained to Ekta about how much airtime he was getting and they decided to make him more relevant by making him the villain (and sorry to say, it just doesn't suit him at all. From what angle does he look or act like a villain? His acting is terrible... like he doesn't even try. It's pointless).

The last episode was nothing but a long and tedious 40 mins of unnecessary dialogue ("Main Peshachini hoon.. main Peshachini hoon.. main Peshachini hoon!" lol). It's like they were stretching it because they didn't know what else to do.

The show went from having a lot of quality to having very little, very quickly. There's hardly any decent acting on the show anymore either. I find myself skipping scenes.

I hate it when a show starts off with a particular concept, centred around certain themes and characters then ends up becoming a completely different show.

I wish Mahek Chachal was back in the show and took centre stage and the show went back to its roots.

The shows due to end soon. I would have been devastated by this news a month or two ago, but now I feel like its best if it ends. It's even out of the top 10 shows in terms of TRP. It's a real shame. I just hope they give it a decent and satisfying ending! But we know how it'll end.

What are your thoughts? What could they have done differently to save the show?

Mona Singh is pretty good but Vivek Dahiya ... he's Mr Wooden Face 🤣
Shakti I think that character is portrayed by Anurag Sharma who is a brilliant actor. Perhaps the script of this show is so shit that even an actor of Anurag's stature can't do a thing.

We see the results reflecting on the charts 😃

The show wouldve been a huge franchise if Mehak stayed on. Her departure was a huge let down
