Dev and his reasons...
Dev since the beginning has been the epitome of brooding and complicated man. He is a beautiful soul believe me much more than even Sonakshi. It says a lot about the stregnth of his character that he became a successful person inspite of a harsh childhood and yet it's never through disregard for others but for the people who depends on him. He is always giving away his credits to his mother and family, acknowledges even people like Radharani n Vicky as his own family while being fully aware of their intentions and flaws. He cries and embraces his mama ji fully empathising with him while he breaks down about the house fire. But while he is all of that he is still quite naive when it comes to his own relationships. Mostly he trusts n loves unconditionally, unquestioningly n with all of him. His assessments and way of tackling of situation are mostly wrong when it comes to his loved ones and yet he would just about do anything to ensure their happiness.

He has never had a great role models in life, neither mama nor Ishwari are good role models as for both of them his financial success is a big achievement and they are content for him to walk this path alone for his family without ever thinking for his own happiness. The dents and scars of his childhood makes him the honorable and dignified man that he is. But for Dev there has also been a legacy of guilt since childhood... The guilt of being the chosen one by his mother for better education, for being the reason of Neha's plight of being less educated and now also for being reason for his mother's pain. There has to be a lot of painful learnings for him before he understands that even in emotions you need to be analytical and reasonable supporting a thief of mami, a drunkard and leech of a cousin, a rigid, tantrum throwing selfish sister like Neha or a clingy , unreasonably possessive mother are never going to sort the issues. Brushing them under the carpet is not the solution rather he needs to sit down and pull all stops to the ongoings of his household firmly and reasonably rather than cowing away. His happiness should be as important to his family as there's are for him, as to secure their sanity he cannot be sacrificing his own.

Beautiful write-up! Very rarely does a post make me write.

In spite of the actions of Dev relating to the break up and the manner in which he carried it all out, one can not deny the beautiful soul that he is. He is someone who gives his all to the relationships that he holds close to his heart ( this trait is something that can be found in abundance in Sonakshi as well). I remember one of phone conversations of Dev and Sonakshi even before they had professed their love for each other. Upon insisting to share his reason for not being able to sleep since one isn't supposed to hide anything from a doctor, Dev with such sheer innocence and purity of heart replies back that one ought not keep secrets from friends as well. How beautiful was that? Where do we find people these days who look at a relationship as friendship with such clear heart and sincerity! Knowing all this, one can very clearly say that Dev was never going to be the man who would ever leave Sonakshi mid-way the way he did if it wasn't for his mother's extreme step. And I so agree with all that you had to say about how he needs to rationalise the behaviours and emotions of the people around him. That wouldn't make them anything less than family, but it would just make the relationships a lot more transparent for what they are and how they need to be dealt with. He has been this giver, who has only given and given, without asking for anything in return for probably it's his guilt of childhood that forces him to be a provider with no right to demand anything for himself. How miserable is it that his own guilt never lets him dream a dream solely for himself and not the family. And for once, just once, when he did dream of a beautiful little world for himself , the very people to whom he gave his all pushed him back into that pit of guilt. And what was his impulsive way to come out of it and set everything right? It was his decision to live with suffering and shame, oblivious to the world around. Suffering of the kind that sears through his heart and the shame of not being able to stay true to one' words that silently pricks every second of his existence. Sigh!

I was the one who really wished more and more of suffering for Dev for the way he chucked Sonakshi out of his life and not even a week of episodes have passed that I can't sympathise with this man more! Kudos to the actors who bring life to the characters and the writers behind who are doing a fabulous job!

Very well articulated.

He is strong, yet vulnerable; He is harsh, yet soft; He is quiet, yet talkative; He is hate-able, yet lovable; He is naive, yet smart; He is intelligent, yet stupid; He is patient, yet impulsive;

I don't think I can agree to this. A person who manipulates others, is oblivious to others' POV and thinks of ONLY his own family, sorry I can't call such person a beautiful human being.. Sona is lot better as a human being, be it honesty, sincerity and taking care of others' emotions, she does it all every time.. 😊 He does disregard people whenever someone comes in the way of him and his mom.. Like in the very first episode, he shouted at a poor cook when Ishwari was at fault.. How many times has he shouted at Sonakshi on impulse only to regret later.. Everyone loves his/her own family, nothing great in it.. But losing cool and venting out anger at wrong people is not sign of a good person.. Sona has merely spoke to Kichu/Bhola bhaiya without a smile one day, and has apologized immediately.. 😕 That's what a good person will do..

He is always giving away his credits to his mother and family, acknowledges even people like Radharani n Vicky as his own family while being fully aware of their intentions and flaws. This I totally agree with.. Specially the bold one.. 😃

Agree with everything except the bold part.. 😳 Neha was the most relatable character of the show after Sona and Bose Family 😃 She is also a victim of an unreasonably over-possessive sick mother who snatched her whole childhood just like that, and unlike Dev, tried her best to make her an under-confident low self-esteemed lady.. Neha just lost 1 generation of a time where girl children were started to give importance in education, but sadly Neha's mother brought Neha up in her ancient age style Neha is one victim of Dev-Ishwari relationship, just like now Sona is.. And agree, all 3 of them are ultimate pawns of Ishwari 🤢

I liked reading your post a lot .. But my points are enclosed within 😊

👏 Beautiful write-up 😃

Yes he is all of that and yet I have faith that upcoming events will show him the way to the revelations of his core to himself. He will have to grow to be the man who is not scared to overcome emotional entanglement with acknowledgement of the his hearts desire without guilt.
