Sultan Advance Booking Report: Terrific response!

The advance booking of Sultan has opened across the country on Sunday and the response is TERRIFIC. Some shows have been sold out in a matter of minutes.

From the initial reports that are coming in from various exhibitors, the tickets sold in advance in a few hours is more than all films this year. And we are comparing the entire duration (until Thursday night for films that release on Friday) to a few hours of Sultan.

By the time the film releases on Wednesday, Sultan would probably sell 2 to 3 times more tickets in advance, as compared to all other film releases this year. Some are already calling it the best ever advance booking'.

Sultan will also be playing on a record number of shows at multiplexes, with some multiplexes only' playing Sultan - Wednesday onwards. At most 3-screen multiplexes, all older films like Housefull 3, Udta Punjab, Raman Raghav 2.0 will stop playing after Tuesday, to make way for Sultan. At multiplexes with higher capacity, Sultan will be playing on a record number of shows.

The response, in just a matter of a few hours, is unprecedented. We don't usually do advance booking reports so early, but never before has our inbox been literally bombarded with messages expressing euphoria over the response to the advance booking of a film.

There hasn't been a film that has really set the box office on fire at smaller centres this year. At quite a few of these centres, Sultan could be setting lifetime 2016 records on its first day itself - i.e more people watching the film on Day 1 as compared to lifetime of other films.

Even if movie is trash, by end of holidays, it'll have broken a few records and others will go just to watch what the hype is all about.

Sultan Advance Only Plus This Weekend

The advance of Sultan opened to and excellent response on Sunday but it will be sometime tomorrow that it will be known where it stands with the likes of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Dhoom 3 and Happy New Year as its been just one day so far. The sort of advance collection it has taken in one day is more than any other release has taken in a week this year but Sultan is not really competing with anything in thae past six months as there has been no big opening.

The poor first half of 2016 with business failing to beat the first half of 2015 despite a better flow of films means any chance of a half decent year is dependent on Sultan becoming a big hit.

The weekend was one of the worst of the year as Shorgul had a very poor weekend as it collected just 1.25 crore nett in its first weekend. Udta Punjab was still was the best collecting Hindi film at around 1.75-2 crore nett taking its total to around 58.25 crore nett plus.

The Legend Of Tarzan was below the mark with around 7.25 crore nett over the weekend and is probably looking to close at around 10 crore nett as will not collect much from Wednesday onwards.

Housefull 3 was still running at places in its fifth week and is closing on 108 crore nett apprx.

I have wasted too much money in theaters for his crappy movies.

'Sultan' box office: Advance booking of Salman-starrer gets phenomenal response; tickets worth Rs. 1 lakh sold out in hours

The advance booking of Salman Khan's Eid release "Sultan" has finally kicked off in India and as expected, the response is terrific. The excitement over the release of "Sultan" can be witnessed from its opening day and five-day long weekend advance booking status.

The advance booking counter opened in India on July 3 (Sunday) and within hours the tickets at several multiplexes and single screens sold out instantly. Not only opening day, weekend tickets are also getting sold out fast. In less than a day, the opening day registered 50 percent occupancy, thanks to the advance booking.

"Sultan" has started breaking records with its opening day advance booking. The "Sultan" mania is so huge that tickets worth Rs. 1 lakh are sold out within hours of opening the advance counter.

Distributors, exhibitor and trade experts are positive that Salman's "Sultan" will have a terrific opening and will do phenomenal business in India. Trade experts have also predicted that "Sultan" first week tickets will be sold out soon if the hype continues to grow.

"Advance booking of #Sultan excellent. 1,700 tickets at Maya, Gorakhpur sold in 3 hours!! History all set to be written," trade expert Komal Nahta tweeted, adding: "#Sultan tickets worth Rs. 1 lakh sold within 2 hours at Smruti (Nagpur)! Madness at the advance booking counters."

Earlier, advance booking of "Sultan" opened to phenomenal response in Pakistan and now in India. It looks like "Sultan" is all set to rewrite history at the box office worldwide.

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film features Salman and Anushka Sharma as wrestlers. The film, produced by Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films, also features Randeep Hooda and Amit Sadh in the pivotal roles. "Sultan" is slated to release on July 6.
