I disagree. we are comparing a 16 year old immaturity of Sumo to a 27 year old Sravan's behaviour and saying both are at par is not in my opinion correct.
from the time Shravan came back, Sumo is the one who is trying to be understanding with him.Sumo is also thinking in the same lines as you, trying to understand Shravan's problems and trying to get him out of his cynicism.but the issue here is, we can't go on understanding and analyzing their behaviourEven a sadistic person has some reason for his behaviour, like his parents are abusive,he sufferred a lot in his childhood which made him turn like this way. but do we condone his behaviour just because of these reasons? it is the same here (am not comparing Shravan here but just trying to make a point)it is not only your upbringing which makes you as the person you are but also the person you want to be. Pushkar has a good upbringing no doubt but at the same time, he has a mother who is manipulative and a father who does nothing. Pushkar is different to everyone of his family including Varun.so at the end, what I say is Pushkar chose to be what he is now (an understanding, upright, gentle natured individual) and Shravan chose to be what he is now (a cynical, only living in the past and who hates women)so yeah, in teens we like to read Mills and Boons type of heroes (brooding, dark, handsome etc) but in reality you would like to settle with a gentle, caring, supportive, understanding friend as your life long companion
Even hurt at the age of 16, just go back and think the situation in which he was insulted.
His mom left him, his dad refused to let him know anything clearly, he wasn't having anyone to share that to, to cry and express his pain to, except a "close" friend Sumo.
He somehow managed to go to her and wanted to tell her when she blasted him and insulted hik making him a laughing stock for the whole school.
He was already a nerdy introvert, and t b see kind of people don't get easily offended or hurt, but when they do, the stabs they get from the person hurting never heal so soon or so easily.
Then what happens...
He goes away from her... When he returns back what be sees... she says "itni badi baat bhi nahi thi.."
Then he sees his Chachi and Vandy are the kind of women who just can anything for their own good.
Then he sees a women like mami who pushes Sumo hard when she even slightly feels she isn't of any good to her... (that scene when he comes n catches her from falling when he had come to her place to discuss the Khosla case)
Then he must have seen girls like Urvashi everyday in the "high class" society he lives in!! Who want to manipulate and hitch to rich guys like him for the sake of a luxurious life.
Now what do u expect...
That is what makes him of the opinion that women are selfish and mean.
When every woman he comes across, unfortunately turns to be a kind of vamp what can he do.
I agree that after an age, we have to decide what kind of person we want to be, but the truth that u can't deny is we become what we see, we read, we learn from what is around us.
Pushkar... a guy who has a loving set of parents, a real elder brother Varun. A nice set of good friends, no painful past of scars, no mental stress of seeing his parents fighting daily with words no child should hear or seeing his family suffering coz of their financial needs, no seeing that his mom toils day and night for them coz his dad want able to work. Pushkar had a nice sorted out lifestyle.
Shravan... a guy with a broken family, parents who fought like snakes and mongoose, a life which had lots of mental and financial stress when he was young. A guy who left everyone in the family at the age of 16 and left for an alien country.
Then he stayed there for 10 years without anyone... but just visits from his "caring" dad.
A guy who immersed himself in studies and made of him what be is now... ruthless, kind of cynical, hard natured guy, knowing that innocent nerds are trampled under the feet of the world.
Sumo is an exception... he has started to realise it too. But then misunderstandings come and put then apart... now am just hoping all this gets sorted soon!!
