This place will be the thread I use to post imaginary extensions to this serial. I'd like to imagine it as the Ramayan from the unique point of view of Manthara, while she sits in heaven/hell and watches this serial 😈

Update: I've renamed this thread after the deer whose demise coincided w/ Dasharath's. The deer chronicled its own record of Sita to kaagbhushandi, who gave it to his fan Jayant, who recorded it for posterity

Sadanand's predicament: the origins


This story starts after Ahalya got delivered by Rama of her curse. After she fell @ his feet and thanked him, she was blessed and rejoined her husband Rishi Gautama in heaven.

Gautama welcomed her and told her, 'Priye, this curse that you underwent was a part of a leela. It was really a blessing in disguise, since you got to be touched by the feet of Rama, who is really Vishnu'

Ahalya: "Thank you, swami. I'm glad that this misunderstanding b/w us is over, as is my test"

Gautama: "Yeah, now we can both sit and watch the divya leela of Vishnu & Lakshmi marrying on earth. This is the first time Lakshmi takes part in an avatar, so this will be a first. I'm glad you could join me in time."

Ahalya: "That's relaxing, Swami. I'm more than happy to follow the proceedings from here. Glad that my ordeal is over"

Just then, Indra arrived to dampen the mood

Indra: Your ordeal may be over, Devi, but not the tests. But now, you get to witness them, rather than experience them

A: Witness whose tests?

I: Your son's. Sadanand's.

G: HIS tests? Why, what did he do wrong?

I: Nothing, except that he's the head priest of the bridal kingdom, which is a more lowly kingdom as well. As a result, he'll get tortured. Both by the queen's brothers, as well as by Raja Dasharath's personal staff.

Both rishi Gautama & Ahalya groan. Indra disappears. Rishi Gautama telepathically contacts Vashistha.

G: Brahmarshi, can you please do me a favor?

V: Anything, rishivar. Btw, glad that you are reunited w/ Ahalya.

G: So am I. Can you have Dasharath and Rama both do my son a favor?

V: Sure. What is it?

G: Have Dasharath discipline his staffers if they belittle my son's efforts in arranging their comforts during their visits. And have Rama straighten out the queen's tiresome brothers.

V: Don't worry, Rishivar, that'll be done.

Gautam & Ahalya then resume watching the proceedings

Will Mandavi dump Ravan for Bharat?


When Maharani Sunaina gave them the news that Dasharath won't be seeing Sita until the wedding, Mandavi was thrilled. Sunaina was shocked.

S: Putri, what are you so happy about?

M: Bari ma, you were so nervous about Sita didi making a false move!!! Now, she doesn't have to. Thanks to the Raghukul parampara, they don't get to see her until she's their bahu. Rahukul parampara ka jai ho!!!!

Sita smiles, and Mandavi continues

M: Bari ma, can we take Sita didi out? Once she is gone, we'll never get to do that again?

S: Yeah, you may.

So the 4 sisters leave the palace, and are soon in the garden. After that, they start picking the flowers

In the meantime, RLBS are walking in the backyard of the garden, after those ceremonies involving the determination of the dates. Lakshman spots them and doesn't want to bump into Urmila again, so takes the rear, hoping that if the girls want to leave Rama & Sita together, they can take Bharat or Shatrughan this time. Urmila too spots them and realizes that Rama would only have to loan ONE of his brothers, and that still wouldn't leave him alone w/ Sita.

So Urmila asks SITA to approach Rama w/ a request to send his brothers on 3 separate assignments, one w/ each of them. Sita comes to Rama.

S: Rajkumar, my sister Urmila asked me to get each of your brothers to do her a favor. Is that okay w/ you?

R: Certainly, they will be happy too.

Lakshman is hissing, and seething w/ anger, but a stern stare from Rama silences him.

S: My sister Shrutakirti is out there fishing. Can one of your brothers go and make sure that she's not attacked by any nagas?

R: Shatrughan, please go to where Shrutakirti is, and make sure that she's not attacked

S: Certainly, bhaiya

S: My other sister Mandavi is there making haldi statues of Lankesh Ravan. Can someone else go and make sure that she's not attacked by any Rakshasha who thinks that she's doing a 3D caricature of him?

R: Bharat, please go and keep an eye on Mandavi.

B: Bhaiya, your wish is my command

S: Urmila is very thankful to Lakshman, and is preparing a fruit basket for him. She wishes Lakshman to join her so that she can thank her w/ something she prepared herself

L: Bhabi, uska koi avashakta nahi. It was my kartavya!!!

R: Lakshman, don't hurt the feelings of someone who wants to thank you. GO!!!

Lakshman, grumpily leaves for Urmila.

R: Btw, Rajkumari Sita, I was really impressed by your mamas today.

S: Tell me about them.

So Rama and Sita sat down and had a long bhashan exchange about their mamas and their thought processes.

In the meantime, Mandavi is sitting gathering a thali of haldi, when Bharat joins her.

B: Rajkumari, I heard that you were making haldi statues of Lankesh Ravan?

M: Who told you that?

B: Your didi Sita?

M: She was bluffing

B: She told me how you were a big fan of his, and were in fact rooting for him to win the swayamvara?

Mandavi glares at him angrily, and tosses the haldi thali at him. He flicks it w/ his fist, and the thali goes flying, and all the haldi ends up landing on the 2 of them.

Just then, the other 3 brothers & sisters rejoin them, and are amused at the scene, and cheer them.

Will Mandavi replace Ravan w/ Bharat in her world view? 😈😆
