S: Here is why I am not trying to touch those lotuses
Saying this, she plucked one of the lotuses from the pond, and it instantly turned char black.
V: Why don't you try plucking it w/ more devotion
Shurpi tried it again, w/ sentiments that she only knew, and the same thing happened. Vaidehi's flowery friends charred again
V: Okay, hand it over to me
Shurpi handed that flower over to her, and the power of Vaidehi's devotion and chastity instantly turned her flowery friend pink - like it was about to get married 😆
V: Btw, you seem like a very beautiful woman. How come you are not married?
S: Actually, I was, but my husband cheated me & left. After that, I tried several men, but none of them loved me for who I am. So right now, I don't trust any men, except for one particular man
V: The issue is not their reaction, but yours. If you're waiting to be loved, you'll wait forever. Instead, you need to know how to unconditionally love. If you do it, you will be loved back.
S: Will you show me how to do it?
V: Sure. It starts w/ the surrender of the self to the almighty, which happens to be one's... husband. Or the one you want to make your husband...
After that, Sita went into a marathon pravachan to Shurpanakha about love, devotion, marriage, pativrata, satitva, the role of the soul, how a woman's soul merges w/ her husband's after marriage and a whole barrage of topics.
S: Devi, after hearing your wisdom and witnessing your miracle, I'm convinced that you are divine. Can I witness your divine form?
V: It requires a special type of devotion to witness it. I'll grant that to you
Sita then granted Shurpi the vision to witness her divine form. She took the form of an eternal being (think Krishna's vishwarupa, but done by Sita), in which all the gods could be witnessed. Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Saraswati, Lakshmi, Kali, and then RBLS, as well as Urmila & Shrutakirti (no Mandavi), the various other devas - Indra, Surya, Pavan, Agni, Vishwakarma, et al. Shurpi bowed to Sita in adoration
S: Devi, I have found what I wanted in you
V: You have?
S: Yeah. I noticed Rama in that pantheon that you displayed right now. You just demonstrated to me that he resides within you. Earlier, I was planning to seduce him, but now, I've realized that I was searching the wrong place: the place to search was you. So I've instead decided to dedicate my shringhar to you
V: WHAT? 😲
S: Yeah, you just showed me that Rama resides in your being. So instead of going after your husband, I'll get him by getting you. I really must thank you for showing me the way.
Saying this, Shurpanakha grabbed Sita and took her back to her tent w/ the flowers, put Sita on her bed and began worshiping her right there. Sita was totally dumbstruck!
