"Chalein Miss Kashyap?"

"Par kaha? Aur woh bhi iss andhere mein? Hume toh aage ka raasta bhi nahi dikhayi dega"

"Miss Kashyap hum log yaha nahin ruk sakte. Agar yeh log humein dhundte huye wapas aa gaye toh bachna mushkil hoga. Isliye chalte rahiye. Raat bhar chalte rahe toh ho sakta hai hum subhah tak main road tak pahunch jaye, ya phir usse pehle hi pahunch jaye"

It is not that Ananya didn't trust Kabir's judgement, but she cringed at the idea of having to walk all the night. Still she stopped herself from arguing and started walking behind him. It's pitch dark now, specially with all the trees around and even the moonlight isnt visible to show them the way. Ananya could only hear Kabir's footsteps on the dried leaves.

"Sir !"

"Yes Miss Kashyap?"

"Kuch nahi. Bas yuhi"

Kabir could sense the worry in her voice. The usually talkative Ananya Kashyap has fallen silent. His own condition was no better. When Ananya insisted on interviewing MadhoNath all alone, he had manipulated circumstances in his favor so that he could follow her, partly coz of the awesome story he would get and partly coz he was concerned about her safety. But now in the current scenario, he was himself skeptical of what the immediate future had in store for them.

"Sir plz thoda ruk jaiye na"

Kabir stopped immediately... "Kya hua Miss Kashyap?"

"Mera pair , bahut zyada dard ho raha hai"

Kabir mentally cursed himself for forgetting about her injury. And now there's nothing he can do about it, in the dark.

"Miss Kashyap plz apna hausla banaye rakhiye" ,trying to assure her. Had there been even a bit of light, Ananya could have seen the worry and concern on his face.

" I'm sure hum yaha se jaldi nikal jayenge. Accha chaliye, apna haath dijiye mujhe".

"Ji"

Both tried to search in the dark for each other's hands. And then the unexpected happened. As both stretched their hands to find each other, Ananya's palm touched Kabir's cheek and his hand caught her arm in such a way that he could feel her soft bosom. Kabir's breath got stuck in his throat as he realized what has happened. Unknown emotions were raging within him and it took him all the self-control he could muster to prevent him from losing his sanity. He managed to get hold of her hand and started leading the way. Together they kept bumping into stones and trees but their entwined fingers never loosened hold. Finally after what seemed like ages, Providence took pity on them. The dense forest gave way to a small clearing, that led to a pond. The soft moonight washed over the place. Kabir and Ananya heaved a sigh of relief. Finally they could see the sky, finally they could see each other and finally they could sit and rest.

Ananya immediately left Kabir's hand and ran towards the pond, limping on the way. Kabir watched her amused.

"Itna khus hone ki zaroorat nahi hai Miss Kashyap"

"Kyun? Aapko accha nahi lag raha hai ki ab hume thoda rest mil jayega?"

"Bilkul bhi nahi "

Ananya stared at him, trying to understand the reason of his words.

"Miss Kashyap, shayad aap bhul gaye hai, par hume main road ka direction batate waqt Desu ne iss talab ke baare mein nahi bataya tha"

"Toh isska matlab..."

"Isska matlab yeh hai ki hum galat disha mein aa gaye hain. Shaayad main road ka raasta kisi aur taraf tha, par hum andhere mein samajh nahi sake. Aur main road jaane ke badle hum jungle ke aur andar aa gaye hai"

"Toh ab hum kya karenge?"

"Rest Miss Kashyap ! Aapko chot lagi hai aur sach kahu toh main bhi kafi thak gaya hu. Aur waise bhi, iss andhere ghane jungle itni raat ko chalne ka risk nahi le sakta."

"Thank you so much "

Without wasting another moment, Ananya opened her heavy boots and immersed her tired feet into the cool water.
