Doremifaso...

I disagree with your post.

Aneek's tarana in the second song can clearly show what a fabulous grasp he has on sur taal ,notes and raaga.

Amanat's singing was simply great yesterday. The best thing about classical singing it is giving the song your own touch with the alaaps and taans. He did beautifully. That shows ones prowess and grasp.

Poonam was surely great ion the second song. The first one too she was good but after a while.

Raja was good in the ghazal, infact excellent may be second to Amanat.

In the second song, Raja could not bring out the punch of the song as effectively as this song required. He had a brilliant start, the alaap was good, the mukhda was also god, but then something happened. he slipped on sur little here and there. he reduced one murki in the word payaliya, and that sounded a little different.

This was the ghazal and semi classicalk round, you are supposed to show your grasp on it and not play safe...

Overall best performer of the night was Amanat.

SOmething to really remember :

Aneek's tarana in the second song.

Poonams Kuhu kuhu bole ...

Raja's first ghazal

Sorry but disagree with you.. Amanat did a great job yesterday and he was the best.. And regarding Raja, his low notes were not right.. His voice is not the one to suite semi-classical songs.. He was not good in Jhanak Jhanak.. He could have done it lot better and even Jagjit Singh said this to him and he was not in sur at some places which was also pointed out by Pandit Jasraj and JS.. Just because if someone sings with energy and emotion, they cannot be called as best singers.. A singer must be technically perfect along with emotion and energy they put in the songs..

Same thing happens with Raja.. As he sings with lot of energy and emotion, his technical aspects becomes unnoticed.. Yes, Amanat and Aneek may not have that powerful voice as Raja and Poonam - but they are technically perfect and being a musical lover, I enjoyed their performance.. The alaap Aneek sang was truly enjoyable and Amanat was best in both the songs with him getting the credit from Pandit Jasraj and JS that he is number 1.. 👏 👏

ya, raja's singing yesterday wasn't gud as amanat's. Raja's voice doesn't suit ghazal singing and any1 cud hear tht. His voice suits only 1 or 2 genres of singing (i'm not saying he's a bad singer, he's just not versatile)

Thats totally not true. He was excel;lent in the ghazal round. In fact he was told by the master himself that he should sing ghazals. he proved that he was very good in a different genre..

Dore.., u say u r not biased, but my dear u definitely r biased..Raja was very good in 'Awargi' but not that good in 'Jhanak Jhanak'. In fact the high notes in 'Jhanak Jhanak' if u hv noticed in the original, r in fact subtle..his voice didn't suit the song at all. For classical singing u need to hv a matured voice, but not hoarse. Raja's song was not crisp, it was hoarse, although he managed the surs, but it didn't sound impressive at all. Aneek, very cleverly had chosen a song where his voice quality didn't matter much as the taranas were apt for impressing the mass. Poonam's song choice was definitely the best; 'Kuhu Kuhu' is mesmerising as it is based on Sohini, and all the antaras are based on different ragas(Bahar, Jaunpuri and Yaman). So, if u can do some justice to the song, it'll be really captivating. Thats why though Poonam had some flaws, eg. voice was shaking at 'damke' and 'chamke' in the antara which goes like 'Kiran haar damkeeeeee.., Jal me chaand chamkeeee',one more thg was the original harquaten were lil bit changed at two other places..(I don't want to find out more flaws bcuz the song is really difficult and requires lots of guts to sing and I really appreciate to whatever extent she has justified the rendition, it is worth appreciating 👏 and it is by far her best perfomance, even better than Vande Mataram)
U said Amanat did quantity singing..If u hv classical base, I'm surprised how do u say so?? Hungama was a really tough song and though at the high notes his voice sounded husky, his harquaten were marvellous. And his Albena Sajan was truly out of the world. All the other three sang like byhearting the song and that is definitely not difficult if u hv 2-3 yrs of classical training and u practice any difficult song for ten times and reproduce the same thg..But Amanat sang the song in a new andaaz, Ismail ji had modified it, true, but I'm sure Amanat added his style to the song and he was completely engrossed in the surs so much that even the listeners will feel they r getting drawn somewhere..I wud say Amanat sang it like a 'Maestro in the making' whereas all others(including Poonam) sang just like any trained singer. (No offence meant)
