EVENT HORIZON / Chapter 5



She greeted the students in the class room, before taking the board marker into her hands; She opened the cap and clasped it again as her mind is preoccupied with something else;


Ishita is aware of the thing that she is getting an extra attention from the students;It's because, for the first time after a very long time, she is wearing some bright color saree.

It's not that she is not beautiful in all those pale, light and faded colors that she usually wears but its only that she is looking some more beautiful today, and that is just a little more than ethereal.

The way how she handles herself, her confident movements, her soft yet dynamic voice and there is something very unique thing of her that could captivate anyone.

She was adjusting her micro phone to commence the lecture, And its when she listened the door knock and there was the Attender with a paper in his hands; this is the moment that she is anticipating and exited since the morning, as she already know, what was that notice about: She has to assist Mr. Raman Kumar Bhalla from next hour onwards.

Raman opened his laptop and clicked on a folder; his deft fingers tentatively pressed the keys, as his concentration is completely at the door step; he glanced at the
door for the umpteenth time in last five minutes and finally he saw her-- who is walking towards him, into the buzzing seminar hall, which suddenly became silent
witnessing the beautiful image of her:


She is wearing a saree which is in a beautiful shade of orange, a very thin strip of silver color border, clad in a gold and silver mixed shade blouse which was designed in such a way that its covering her hands up to her elbows;


She looked like a walking blur of sunshine, and moments later when she was almost nearer to him , Raman suddenly became conscious of how shamelessly he is ogling at her.



After some minutes of her introduction to the students she stood beside him. He handed a microphone to her before opening the power point presentation.


"I always used to get better grades than you, but, see now I'm assisting you and what should I do here.. handing you some water when you're thirsty, arranging those papers and standing beside you like a statue.." she was mumbling, while clasping her microphone to her saree.



"Shut up" she listened his sharp whisper. She unbelievably looked at him thinking that she misheard something or misinterpreted or.. otherwise how is it possible him saying shut up to her.This is something that never happened before, not even once.


She bited her lip in discomfort, feeling quite irritated as he commenced the lecture ignoring her. It took almost an hour for her to select a saree of his favorite color but here he is: who simply said shut up, well he only said that once but why is she rewinding it again and again.




For the next two hours, Ishita felt that she is just some object in the seminar hall, as Raman was completely indulged into the lecture. She was playing with the paper
weight on the table, fumbling with some pens, tearing a bit of paper which was kept on the table and its when Raman immediately took of his mic and whispered in her
ear, "What are you doing? It's a research paper" his warm breath tickled her ear lob as she moved a bit aside, away from him, almost instantly.



"Sorry" she whispered before leaving the papers, quite embarrassed, even flustered. He realized that she is feeling bored.


"And next session is some what familiar to you already, so Miss. Ishita will take up this" he announced, turning the laptop towards her, before grabbing a water bottle and gulping a bit hurriedly as the students attention alternately shifting from Raman to Ishita and then Ishita to Raman for some few seconds;There was already a discussion forum happening among the last bench students.


Some one saying that Raman and Ishita are looking great together, some one saying both of them are single and some one saying.. well that was some never boring , never ending discussion which is definitely better than listening about finance either about world's economical scenario or about procrastinating the recession of 2070, or else those so many other things that they're listening since two hours.

That was lunch time; Ishita was walking out of the Seminar hall, she suddenly felt someone walking beside her and a moment later felt some pressure on her wrist she
looked over her shoulder to see Raman. "Leave my hand" she gasped but his hand slipped into hers entwining their fingers. "Let's go for lunch together" but he got the
same response form her again "Leave my hand".


A teasing smile was about to cross his face but his expressions immediately changed into concern, seeing the distress in her face, for a second, he felt to leave her hand but he couldn't do that.



"My hold is not that strong that you couldn't let go of your hand yourself" he said as a matter of fact while his grip loosened a little bit yet not leaving her hand completely. "You can let go of your hand yourself,if you really want to" he added knowing that she couldn't do it either.

The ever crowded cafeteria looked no different today; Raman pulled a chair for Ishihta, saying that he will bring some thing to eat; he headed towards the food counter.



By the time when he was walking back to their table, with some french fries, noodles, a coke and some other favorite stuff of her; He saw her talking with some tall guy. And by the time Raman reached their table, that tall guy had already left the place.

"Who was he?" Raman asked Ishita placing the plates of food on the table.

"Ashok, A student" she laconically replied as Raman suddenly kept a forkful of noodles in front of her lips gesturing her to eat. But she moved a bit back before consciously looking around.

"This is not new to you, either to me" he said,force fully stuffing the noodles into her mouth."Why're you doing this" she asked as the food in her mouth choked out a bit ;he immediately handed her a glass of water.

"I'm not doing anything, I'm just being like I, that's it" he said before stuffing some more noodles into her mouth, this time a little gentle.


She gave up and let him do whatever he wanted to because she realized there is no point in resisting him."I'll come to your place, tonight, for dinner" he suddenly said making her surprised. but she hasn't started any argument like she usually does and he isn't any mood to face the one either.

Later in the night, some time around 8 pm.. Raman went to her place. He was about to press the door bell but the door automatically opened and the next thing happened
is a guy, well it was that same tall guy, whom Raman saw in the cafeteria is coming out. and followed by Ishita.



"Thank you ma'am" he said before extending his arm for a shake hand but that wasn't ended like a shake hand as Ashok's palm was pressed her hand for a moment more than what actually needed and that was enough to boil the blood of Raman.

The moment when Ashok left the place, Raman dragged her into the house, closed the door and yanked her to the door making her shiver in fear or hurt or may be a mix of both.



"Why was he here?"

"He came to clear his doubts about.." she was saying but cutted by him

"At this hour?"

"Why're you interrogating me"

"It's not about you, It's about him, I don't like that guy"

"Not every one in this world are meant to be liked by you"

"Not every one, but he is some one whom I'm seeing around you since the morning," He said before taking her in his arms." There is something wrong about him, I don't
like the way how he is trying to touch you always" he said.



"I don't think he is doing that, even if he did, how it's matter with you, in fact you're also doing the same, trying to touch me" she said struggling in his hold but stilled when she saw into his eyes, which were filled with anger veiled with hurt making her regret her words.


"I'm sorry.. I don't meant it.. I really don't.." she was panickly saying something but her remaining words never escaped from her lips as she felt his lips on hers , his one hand at the nape of her neck holding her firmly while the other one is en wrapped her form.


She felt completely limp in his arms as he relentlessly kissing her. After a moment of oblivion of the situation and then a moment of resisting him and then finally she felt, relaxing, or may be indulging, as the scorching sensation of his lips enveloped her senses.


Her hands which were hanging by her side limply, now made their way towards his neck, a second later raking through his hair and it's when she felt him shoving her hair aside, and nestling his face into the arc of her neck and placing a trail of feathery light kisses at the base of her throat.


She felt her legs are trembling and a sudden warmth of him engulfing her own self.
After a second or two, he captured her lips once again. delving deeper into her mouth , pouring the conflicting emotions of him abreast with the possessive touch.


His hands are moving up from hes waist,acquainting with her curves over the fabric of her blouse still kissing her restlessly; The pallu of her saree was almost on the
verge of slipping except a little bit of the hem of the fabric was carelessly hanging on her shoulder.



The cool breeze of the night which was washing over them made her trembling, and Its when, she felt him kissing all over her face lightly, this time only to calm her trembling form.After some moments later he reluctantly moved away but not before pecking on her lips one more time.



He stared into her eyes as his one hand still en wrapped her waist, engulfing her form ,"You're looking amazing in Saree" he said some thing that he wanted to say since
yesterday, since the very first time when he saw her in saree. She just blinked for a couple of times, her mind is still dazed and she even felt its hard to stand on her
knees if he isn't holding her like that.



He pushed the few tendrils of her hair behind her ear and adjusted the pallu of her saree before kissing her fore head making her close her eyes. And Its when he felt a
hot stream of tears pooling down from her closed eyes. "Ishita.." he groaned while trying to wipe her tears, but she immediately shrugged of his hand.



"Why don't you understand if I say, stay away from me, I can't resist you and I can't accept you either, this is suffocating" she lashed out at him.

That wasn't any unexpected reaction from her side, In fact he expected some more
He wiped her tears before hugging her more,earning an audible gasp from her.

"Then learn to endure this because I'm not going to stay away from you, not any more" his voice came as a hoarse whisper, he was blinking back the tears which were prickling in his eyes.

Damn the hell he is this chief economist of IMF who stepped into the goodie two shoes of strong and stable persona, how better other wise, he too can cry peacefully like her, though the reasons for tears are unknown or may be unsure.

"Four years back,I didn't understand, why you were hell bent on asking me to leave you, but today when I know that there wasn't any proper reason but your stupid
insecurities.. I can't leave you any more," he whispered against her hair."I'm not going to listen to you, and I'll be with you weather you accept me or not" he added.

"I don't want you"

"You don't even know what you really want, so just stop fussing, I'm going now, good night" he kissed her hair lightly before moving away.

"Dinner?" she suddenly said but immediately became silent, biting her lip and hitting herself mentally for asking that.

"You were asking me to stay away but now you're asking me about dinner?" he said as his lips pulled into a wide grin and his eyebrow raised, making her gulp nervously.

"I was just thinking about the food, It would be wasted otherwise"

"Oh! then you eat it on my behalf, I'm really feeling that you lost a lot of weight," his gaze shifted to her slender waist and then to her lips.


"I don't think its a good idea for me to stay some more time today,"-- "I'll come for dinner tomorrow" he said looking at her lips intently before averting his gaze
some other side. He was about to leave but turned back again, yet again.



He stared into her eyes for a second before talking "Whatever the thing that just happened between us is something, I don't have any control over.. and you don't need
to confuse about this, weather attraction or love.. I'm feeling that this is love,, but I can't prove to you because I don't know how to, "

he ran his fingers through his hair before talking again "I bloody don't care If you're going to name this as just an attraction,-- What I all care is this is mutual and too strong to be ignored," he left his talk in the middle before leaving--
