Episode 1: The Life That I Can Never Dream Off
Before talking about the episode, I wanted to mention the theme tune for this show. I listened to it repeatedly last night because it is just that awesome. I love Palak and Shaan's voices. The words and the tune itself is beautiful and light. I am going to try to embed a video here, I do not know if it will work but I am hoping it does so you can hear it for yourself. ๐ I wish I could find the full length version. As a side note, I love theme tunes for TV shows, some of them are so nice that I would rather listen to them than Bollywood songs. ๐

^ Isn't that just a really nice tune?๐
Now coming onto the episode, where I made notes. Yes, I actually did make notes.๐ณ๐
A full two pages on my tablet. But that's because the page is small and my handwriting using the stylus is too big. ๐คฃ
The first thing I love about this show is the cinematography. It's so clear and bright - HD happyโญ๏ธ. The next is Paris, which is such a pretty city. The thing that caught my attention the most was the architecture of the Paris University Amaya Mathur attends. It's my kind of architecture: old and grand๐๐ผ. It shows that the producers and makers have put a lot of effort into this show and I will elaborate on that more a bit later. This makes it different from what I have already seen. ๐
So now coming on the various characters. First, kudos for making the family look like a family and they are a pretty sweet (if slightly unrealistic - for dramatic purposes) family. Amaya had a quintessential entry riding a bike with no care in the world attitude. I would love to be in her place like that. I got too much worry. I like this coral/peach/orange (I have issues discerning colours) that she was wearing. It suits her. She's a very pretty girl but I think I am going to have to get used to her fashion sense/styling and her hair style. It looks better to me out than in the design she was wearing. By the way I have zero fashion sense so can only comment on how it appeals to me. But everything is done to show us her personality.
There is this subtle play on making Amaya seem obsessed with shopping and also caring for her friends/selfless. I mean when she was making a bet with Ritika, I was like are you mad? The entire collection. Do you know how much that costs? If you are worried about your friend's attire then help her out with a few pieces - not the whole thing! The actress herself is not bad, and it's still initial days so expression wise and everything (which I don't really want to talk about as I have zero acting experience) will get better I suppose. Someone better than me can talk about that.
The emphasis on looks and style - which a serious shopaholic like her has, is important to the story but I know from experience that looks can be misleading and should not be the prime focus of anything. The second is this idea that money is always going to be there and is the solution to everything. Amaya does not check her balances and whips out her credit card (or her dad's) like it is nothing. Myself, and I am sure others, have to carefully check that I have enough money to spend on necessities before I can buy gifts for myself let alone everyone else. Also those thousand of euros for a gig was shocking to me ๐ฒ since I have issues having enough money to buy a bus ticket at times! (yeah I am no Amaya Mathur)
Her introduction of her family was interesting. I am going to point out here that my favourite characters are Sneha, Hari Chachu and Jazz! ๐ I also like Matthew but he does not say anything interestingly ๐
Rachita (who is very pretty and has an OCD personality disorder) is someone I think I may have to learn to like. The father, who seems really nice and sweet, is a tad unrealistic and I am wondering how he became a businessman? I don't know how established he is, I would say like quite newly self made man, whose solution for any disaster is to refuse it exists and think of tomorrow. Yes we earn money to spend, but as their mom says money doesn't grow on trees and is not going to be in supply all the time. Some time or another it will disappear and that's why you need a healthy attitude towards money. Also all those gifts and holidays are something very little people can dream off. Unlike Amaya, I can't walk into a Parisian Store and just buy stuff - I feel totally guilty. I have a strange guilt complex too. Told you I was odd. ๐
The three sisters are so cute, and together they make a great family but if we live life queen sized all the time, then what happens when our reign comes to an end? Money is such a necessity in this world and managing it should be a skill everyone should learn. It does not mean being a miser, but careful. Some investing, some saving and you can be Amaya Mathur on a budget.
The acting is really good especially for all the older actors. It does not seem forced. Hari Chachu, Sneha and The Dad, whose name I have now completely forgotten, are really good. Jazz is so cute in her glasses and fringe and Rachita is doing well with her icy personality. Amaya suits her role, but I will have to learn to like her more than I already do. Maybe that's what they meant when they called her the Alia Bhatt of TV. I have no idea.
So that is my thoughts on episode 1. I'll watch episode 2 tonight hopefully and come back with another essay ๐. Hope I haven't sent you to sleep.
Live Long and Prosper
