Nope , this logic alone fails to explain the high degree of negative ethno-centrism prevailing among todays jat as they ain't the only farming class.. It is their inherent martial spirit 'outletting through a junked channel now' with no one to check it which has filled the nerves of many (if not all) of them with neanderthal ostentation especially of power..
And I don't need to quote the social chemistry of Jatt/Jaat populated areas..

Well I am Sikh Punjabi and don't know much about Jatts.

Not everyone from the Punjab identifies with Jatt but I know what you are talking about. There are Muslim punjabi from Pakistan that like to use the term Jatt aswell.

To my knowledge they are farming classes.

No not at all. I'm a Hindu and I like Aamir Khan(onscreen),Nawaz ,I'm a fan of Mohd Rafi's voice(from the golden era). And I like Hrithik,Deepika,AdityaRoy Kapoor I.e punjabis and South Indian though I'm a Marathi. There is a long list... but it's all because of their talent or the looks or both😆

Say, liking the Khans mainly because they are Muslims or liking Akshay and Hrithik mainly because they are Hindu?

Or liking Madhuri because she's Marathi? Or Deols because they're Punjabi?

Or disliking Atif and Fawad because they are Pakistanis?

Just quoted for examples.

Does religion or regional background of an artiste influence your liking?

Does background matter? Consciously or subconsciously?

No to everything. But I will admit if a star or Cricketer hails from Gujarat, I wud be lil more prouder. Bus. And religion has nothing do with my liking/disliking of a celeb or human being
