Sara Arjun rumoured for Imtiaz Ali’s Heer Ranjha, casting director Mukesh Chhabra reacts

Rumours about actor Sara Arjun joining the cast of the upcoming film Heer Ranjha recently gained attention online. Several reports claimed that the Dhurandhar actor might be considered for the female lead in the project presented by Imtiaz Ali. However, casting director Mukesh Chhabra has now stepped in to dismiss the speculation and clarify the actor’s current status.

Sara Arjun drew attention for her role as Yalina Jamali Mazari in the Dhurandhar franchise, which stars Ranveer Singh in the lead. The actor is also set to appear in the sequel, Dhurandhar The Revenge. With the release of the second part approaching, conversations around her future projects have begun circulating across entertainment portals and social media platforms.

Addressing the speculation, Mukesh Chhabra shared a note on X, formerly known as Twitter, on March 7. Posting a picture of Sara Arjun, he clarified that the actor has not taken up any new project at the moment. “Sara Arjun has not signed any other film. We are just waiting for D 2. She has not signed any film and has not met anyone regarding any project. So please relax, guys. I will personally update you about her next project. Just wait all the other news is only rumours,” he wrote.

The clarification came shortly after a media report suggested that Sara was among the leading names being considered for Heer Ranjha. The project is being directed by Sajid Ali and is backed by producers Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Preety Ali under Pi Films Pvt Ltd. According to the report, the makers were exploring a relatively new face for the female lead. A source quoted in the report had claimed, “The team is looking for a relatively fresh face. After ‘Dhurandhar’, Sara has emerged as one of the most promising young actors today. She is among the strongest names being evaluated for Heer.”

Earlier, producer Ekta Kapoor also reacted to reports circulating online about the casting of Heer Ranjha. Sharing a screenshot of a news article that claimed Sara Arjun and Rohit Saraf had already been finalised for the film, she posted a brief response. “Need great scriptwriters in fiction. Wanna join? You all write great fiction.”

Her remark added to the discussion around the casting rumours. For now, no official announcement has been made regarding the lead pair of Heer Ranjha, leaving the speculation open.
