As for Changing name or naming their children<<<<<< following religious practices and i don't see any of these converted souls offering namaz 5 times a day but i see them doing all the pujas , celebrate holi, diwali etc along with their muslim husbands/wives .

Celebs don't care about rituals. They are liberal. Dharam and Hema follow Hindu rituals even though they converted to Islam. Celebs never take religion seriously at all.

In my opinion one should have freedom of faith. No need to follow spouse or parent religion compulsorily.

I don't mind if someone doesn't even follow either parent's religion at all and becomes an atheist.

But if one party is forced to convert or follow a certain faith then it's debatable. It could be an issue with ordinary people who aren't celebs and aren't that liberal either.
Marriages are still not just based on love. Lot of politics based on caste, religion, financial status and whatnot goes into fixing an alliance. Real life of ordinary people is very different from idealistic notions. (Not stereotyping Muslims here. People of all religions have been involved in using marriage for other agenda.)

As far as Khans are concerned, they get bashed by staunch Muslim leaders also and have fatwas against them. Their liberal lifestyle is detested by orthodox people from all sides.

Exactly !!!!
This conversion and all hindu/muslim/love jihad debate is bullshit in relation to these celebs and some people fall pray to it and start digging things like naming children and their faith etc which goes on to show that whatever this fanatic is saying is actually doing what it should do - i.e stirring.

Bechara shahrukh gets bashed from both side hindu fanatics and muslim mullahs in a secular country . I love the fact that he is the only one who , without being labelled something, still uses his muslim identiity openly by using islamic words like allah, mashallah etc and he didn't even name his children as proper muslim names .
