I very much agree and can see what he's saying. People that young tend to take hasty decisions, it's the parents' responsibility to see they move in a right track.. I'd feel the same if I had a daughter and she said she wanted to do something that'd affect her college! Without a solid degree, it's as good as you are dead in today's world. Ofcourse, finding employment is another issue, but degree helps gain some employment somewhere. If she's so interested in acting, she can wait for 2 years, if she doesnt find success in Bollywood, she might as well 'act' in theatrical plays, if that is what her 'passion' is.. in such cases, acting can be a part-time job as well.

Besides, the time till 20-21 is the age where one needs to build his character, grow up, widen their horizons by gaining knowledge etc. And he's actually quite liberal, saying that she's free to do anything she wants after 2 years - for a girl to have financial security, a very volatile industry like bollywood is quite insecure imo...

Let her do what she wants. A degree is imp but it doesn't ensure much. You need contacts. I have seen post graduates from London School Of Economics begging to get a job.
