Hello YHMians...back with a new part!
Thoda matured theme hai [no no not the matured theme you wild minds think of...] SO kids stay away!
Not proof checked...so excuse any errors!
Your comments are my motivation to write more...so do like and comment if you like it and want to read more...
Its a little tight rope walking that i am doing with this story...so I am not sure if I did justice to the first step...
Part 3
He let a sigh of breath and spoke up, "Before anything else, we need to get used to each other. ...come..."
She couldn't understand what he meant by that or where they were heading to by this sudden turn but something chanted inside her heart and instructed her to obey him. His invite felt way too good to refuse.
He hadn't freed her hand and neither did she try to free away. She got up from the couch and he led her to the bed.
As they settled on two sides of the bed, their minds were restless and both wondered, "What next?"
*********************************************
She was feeling a little uneasy, partially because they were sleeping besides each other on the same bed without Ruhi in between for the first time while he was restless for a different reason altogether. Where and how would he start with her? It was all feeling a little odd.
His restless tossing up and down worried her, "was it because she was near him on his bed?"
She spoke up after a brief lull, "Raman, aap soye nahi?"
Raman turned his face to her direction and replied, "Neend nahi aa raha...aur tum?"
"Mujhe bhi neend..." her instant reply trailed off as she echoed his own words and he couldn't help a chuckle. He voiced slowly, "Ishita I was thinking about what the doctor said"
She wasn't even thinking on the lines of what he meant by that and replied, "maine kabhi nahi socha tha ke aap mere problem keliye itna kuch karenge Raman"
He spoke a little annoyed, "arre bas karo yaar...yeh kya meri problem meri problem laga rakha hai...your problem is also my problem yaar...hum pati patni hai...shaadi kiya hai humne"
As if that was news to her, she was stunned as the whole feeling of him being her husband and she being his wife needed time to sink inside her head. It was the first time, she was trying to come in terms with that. He had said it once before but that was amidst an emotional outburst. It felt good and she even had goosebumps while he said that now. But she wanted to hear more from him. Perhaps a confession was playing in her mind and she replied after a little thought, "haan shaadi toh kiya but Ruhi keliye..."
This wasn't going too well with him and he was annoyed more but then he calmed down and replied as patiently as possible, "humaare beech mein shaayad yahi sabse bada sacch hai but duniya keliye hum pehle husband and wife hai aur usske baadh Ruhi ke parents...Even if we want to, we cannot ignore that Ishita...aaj doctor ne bhi yahi assume karke yeh saare advice diya...She asked me a lot of questions about you, about me, about us!"
The last "about us" came after a pause and he stressed it more. She comprehended every single word from him and was also in agreement with all of it. It was true that the outside world would assume them to be normal husband and wife. They would never guess what the reality was. He continued, "thoda ajeeb tha unn sab sawaalon ka jawab dena but tumaare treatment keliye zaroori hai..."
Now she was a little puzzled about what treatment he was speaking about! What were the questions which he found weird? Was it about her monthly problems and pains? Probably yes, they are indeed odd for a guy to answer.
She was quick to reply, "You should have taken me along Raman? Main answer karlethi na?"
Now he was stunned and he couldn't understand if she really knew what the doctor asked him and he was left with no reply. He assumed that it was the doctor inside his wife who was confident of answering such questions. His Jhansi ki Rani was indeed more daring than he had imagined.
Both failed to notice that with each to and fro reply, their awkwardness of being on the same bed without Ruhi in between was slowly disappearing.
He tossed around and turned towards her and his eyes settled on her form. He realized that she was trying to sleep but for him, sleep was already long lost and now he didn't want this chat to end or perhaps, he didn't want to let her sleep.
Taking the first step was always difficult but he made up his mind and moved his hand casually over hers. Placing his hand on hers, he replied assuringly, "Next visit keliye saath mein chalenge...and before that we need to..."
He didn't finish his words but his assuring hand now nudged between her fingers. Slowly, her hands went into his and he entwined her fingers with his. But he could feel a tremble in her and she turned her face towards him whispering, "Raman...aap..."
Doubts and questions clouded her mind now. His actions and romantic gestures looked like a riddle now. "Was he trying to get close to her? Was it for Ruhi's sake?"
Ishita's mind replayed the incident when Ruhi had tried to bring them closer when they had a big fight. He had slept with his hands grabbing hers. But today, there was no fight or a situation like that. Ruhi was also not there with them. Then why?
His attraction for her wasn't hidden from both of them but even then his taunts and insults had kept them far apart as if they were born to fight and stay like friends forever. Tonight everything seemed new. His behaviour, his gestures and talks were new. Raavan looked more like Ram now but the reason and his intentions weren't clear to her.
He could feel her shiver vibrating through him. She voiced when her anxiety grew, "Raman, mujhe neend aa rahi hai...toh"
"toh?"
He was quick to enquire and she replied, "Aap ke haath"
She pointed to their entwined fingers as she tried to extract hers from him. He wasn't loosening the grip and he replied ignoring what she was trying to say, "toh so jao...What's bothering you? Koyi lori vori toh nahi expect kar rahi ho na?"
Raavan was back with his tacky one-liners, she thought to herself and then spoke up directly, "agar aap aise mere haath dabaavoge toh main kaise so sakthi hoom?"
He teased back naughtily, "kyun kuch kuch hota hai, huh?"
She was seriously in no mood for a nhok jhok but it was clear that he wanted her to fight back, "kuch kuch nahi bohat kuch ho raha hai Raman...but aap kabhi nahi samjhoge...Forget it! Aur filaal mujhe sona hai bas..."
Saying that, she pulled away her hand forcefully and turned to the opposite direction to sleep!
She was indeed fed up of his false acts of romance and pretense of love. Everything was a facade put up for some reason or the other, be it for Ruhi, the family, his ex wife Shagun, or any convenient reason of his. Then when she almost falls for his act, he pulls her leg and makes it all a joke. She would become an emotional fool all over again everytime. But not anymore!
He didn't even realize what went over her each time he did all such acts but this time around his act wasn't merely an act but she failed to understand it.
Meanwhile, anger only piled up inside him and he thought, "This is difficult than I thought! Aakir yeh madrasan chahthi kya hai? I am trying to help her and ulta mujhe hi sunaa rahi hai!"
He turned to the other side muttering a little loudly, "baad mein jaaye woh doctor aur unnke advice...If you dont want it, neither do I...understand?"
She violently stomped on the bed irritantly as if she was kicking him and he shouted back, "arre ho Jhansi ki Rani ab mere bed ko laat kyun maar rahi ho?"
She replied back, "aapko nahi maar sakthi toh bed hi sahi...aur waise bhi...tell me something, mere irregular periods aur dard kam karne mein aapka kya kaam? What do you mean that if you dont want then I dont want, haan? I mean I am thankful ke aap doctor se miley aur advice bhi liya but usske aage kya? What makes you so restless and irritated, haan?"
It just slipped from his mouth in fury, "of course mera kaam hai! Without me, how do you plan to have a baby? Tum dentist hi ho na? koyi magician toh nahi jo abracadabra kahogi toh baccha aa jaayega, huh?"
She was speechless and bewildered completely. What was he even saying? Is this what he was trying to tell her and also trying so far?
[To be continued]
