I have stuck with this show since the very beginning, so I have witnessed the ups and downs in Raman's behaviour, and the forum members responses to it accordingly. First was the entire DNA incident, then the holi and apology, the list goes on. We heartily give Raman Bhalla star of the day when he is nice, like he has been for a while now. He has stood by Ishita and her family through everything, except now. So how do we easily forget all the good in him, when he fumbles? Sometimes he is Ravan sometimes he is Ram, but what is he always? Human, just human. I just want to clarify, that by no means am I supporting his behaviour in any of the aforementioned scenarios. He was wrong, and there is nothing that could undo that. But I think whatever it is, he is real. He is not amongst those heroes who seem to always make the right decisions, he is also not among those who suspect their wives of everything petty. He is somewhere in the middle; just a human being who makes bad decisions from time to time.

I DON'T like his behaviour towards Ruhi, and a lot of people have pointed to his apparent favourtism to his oldest. For me its simply that he has taken Ruhi for granted. He knows she isn't going anywhere so long as she has Ishita, there is nothing that could harm her. Aditya he is worried for. There is also the classic case of wanting what you do not already have more. That is how things stand with regards to his children. That being said, I feel bad for Ruhi, she shouldn't go through this, especially now that she is finally coming out of her shell, and for that I am happy Ishita gave her a piece of her mind. 👏

Coming to the whole Shagun fiasco. My whole outlook on life based largely on personal experiences, and from what I have learnt vicariously, is that too often, people trust the right people for the wrong reasons or the wrong people for the right reasons. We get swayed by emotions and instinct so often, that we rarely stop to consider out choices until the consequences come to bite us in the back. It happens to the best of us, its classic psychology. Raman too has made a mistake, he is swayed by his want of Adi's love, and has chosen to trust Shagun for his sake. He is torn completely, and is being manipulated by a petty woman in his angst. Another mistake people make. They let their anger and their hurt get the better of them, and people who know how to use this to their advantage, will pull your strings. It has happened to me, and I am sure it has happened to so many of you.

We are all human, and we make our mistakes then suffer the consequences, we are selfish, we hurt people, we love irrationally and make bad decisions. That is what life is right, and I feel that is what they are portraying in the show. It would be nice to see Ishita make some mistakes too thought, because I think the reason why we punish Raman so harshly is because Ishita comes across as pretty perfect. I hope soon we see her back story, and I hope that she makes her share of mistakes too, because that is what makes you better and wiser.

Coming back to Raman, I think he has improved so so much. We only get upset when he seems to be doing so well, then inadvertently does something stupid right after it. But I like to think of him through this allegory. He hit rock bottom when Shagun left him for Ashok and took Aditya with him. He sat at the bottom of his dark pit, crying and kicking and screaming. He was frustrated and would throw pieces of hard rock at anyone who tried to help him from the top. It hurt those people, but eventually the rock fell back and hurt him. This kept going till Ishita came, and threw down a rope and coaxed him to climb, or at least attempt. He still kicked and screamed but eventually saw her logic and grabbed the rope. He is climbing, slowly and steadily, but you cannot expect him to do so in one swift motion. He will have his share of slips, fumbles and regress a few steps. This is expected. As I said its basic human nature to do stupid things in the name of love and hate then regret it.

This is not to absolve him of what he has done to hurt others, but what normal human being doesn't act selfish once in a while? And being selfish always comes with a cost. This is a realistic show about realistic people, we have all met a Raman or Ishita or Shagun or Romi. These people exist. So let's lay off on bashing anyone, and see what lessons these characters take away from their mistakes.

I probably haven't done anything to change people's bad moods on the forums, but its just my opinion, feel free to concur or defer!

I don't have anything to add because you put everything into perspective beautifully.initially, I was disappointed in him for what he did today, raman is digging himself into a bigger hole by not telling ishita. it's crazy how a smart man can be manipulated for loving his son unconditionally.

Yea ! Ur right somehow ! We r all human beings afterall and all these r bound to happen : the ups n downs of life; the good n bad decision we take. Its not as if Raman doesnt care for Ishita, he does care for her, a lot. But being in this frustration n depressive mood is sending him in a pool of confusion.
Yes favouritism does exist in family and no one can change that : i have witnessed it ! There will always be that one child which ur parent will be more caring n loving. But in our situation the saddess part is.. Ruhi.. Since her birth she had to endure the lack of a father's affection, until Ishima came to her life, no, ishima came to their life and changes everything. With Ishita, Raman has started to live a stable life, Ishita was the light in that dark room.

Yes, we have to give Raman the benefit of the doubt : he has successfully proved to be a kind person recently. But kind doesnt mean perfect.

However i still hold the view that Ishita must stop behaving like a wife (for a brief moment) and act only as Ruhi's mum, to touch Raman.

You are absolutely right. I agree with each and every word that u just said and I too wish to see Ishita make some mistakes. She never gets angry or even if she does , you say sorry and she easily gives in. What is this . i want her to get angry, upset, feel betrayed at times, get hurt and react . Why is it always only Raman that makes mistakes and we always run after HIM. No one is perfect and we as humans can never be and should not be perfect , if we are then sorry to say that we are not humans but GOD. I want her to feel the pinch this time and leave him and go so that they both realize that they need each other and cannot take each other for granted like always.

Reina, thank you for writing this. it is a much needed post and you have expressed it very beautifully.
Raman can never make people happy. He is the most misunderstood guy. I almost feel as if one likes to see him happy but the moment he falters or becomes a human he becomes raavan kumar. Raman is a human being that has been through ups and downs in life and the past that he has went through- no one deserves to go through that. It is nice to see him throw one-liners and show attitude but he is a human being. He is not perfect and never claims to be perfect so I don't understand why he is bashed for being a human being. A hero does not mean he has to be perfect. I think that is why i relate to Raman so much because he is not perfect. He is your everyday father, husband, boyfriend, son and that is what makes his character appealable to me.

I have a slightly different view about Ruhi and Raman. I don't think he takes her for granted. He does know the value of her but that poor child gets caught in the middle of things. Like today Raman did not yell at her because she was being bad but he yelled at her because he was displacing his anger and then soon enough he realized it. Other than that like you said he is a human being that makes bad decisions from time to time and we all have done that because we are human. I don't agree with few of the things he has done in the past few days but I attribute that to him being human. I wanna be there to hug him cheer him and tell him everything will be ok rather than tell him he is a pathetic and horrible. You can't turn from being the caring husband to horrible husband over night and he never will.

I think another thing as a viewer we get to see all sides of the story. We know Shagun plotted this but does Raman know that? He is not in a state to know that so we can't judge him based on what we know when he is not aware of that.

We are all human, and we make our mistakes then suffer the consequences, we are selfish, we hurt people, we love irrationally and make bad decisions. That is what life is right

you have said it all with this line. I hope people stop placing their unattainable expectations on him and judge him based on that as he is human. he is not a supergod and just like any of us he is bound to make mistakes and he will regain from it.

Nice post 😊
I would agree that everyone makes mistakes but I have also come across people like Ishita who are really selfless and put their loved ones before themselves . Maybe that's why I relate to her. She makes choices in situations to do the right thing. When the time comes to stand up for herself she does. She is a calm person but has got a lot of inner strength. She hasn't become bitter because of her experiences and sees the glass half full. She is a positive person and dies not fun away from her problems. She faces them full on. For example Raman got scared to get the DNA test she just did it! In the latest situation she will face the issue full on making the right choices but it seems Raman will face the problem but by making choices that maybe Ishita would not make.

That doesn't make him bad and her good. Just two different people with two different personalities and ways of going things. Just humans as you say...

Lovely post and agree.
But preferring boy child, it's a wrong message to the society esp. when this though has been vanished from many people around the world. It's a real show. Raman as a real character, shouldn't he be a bit open minded? He is educated and a CEO. His actions regarding Adi makes me think whether he really is educated in a true sense. Did he get degrees just to earn money, not to purify his mind? I sometimes feel he prefers Adi as he is a boy child, not he is the first born.
And, everytime we try to defend Raman saying he is a real man, he does mistakes, he covers for his mistakes etc. But, how many time did we go through the pain of Ishita because of him? I guess only 20% of the times may be. And, we defend Raman 100% times. Why we are discriminating? Cos, he is hero and a male and Ishita is a female??? I always found this weird. Everyone mentions yup Ishita might be hurt, but very few can see that she is hurt. Raman's continuous mistakes make her hurt. There are women like her who accepts manythings around her because of their thinking uniqueness. But, does it mean torture them mentally everytime as they will not create a scene? If being good means being tortured, then I won't be this good with my husband or his family. Cos, this man powered world find women's goodness as her weakness. People learn from mistakes, at least sensible, matured, educated people. But, Raman acts exactly contrary to that. He never learns from mistakes. He just finds that he has done mistake and he has to cover it. But, he never realized that he shouldn't do any such mistake again. What are the CVs trying to teach us with this thought???? I am not fedup of Raman's character. He is a sweet one, infact my favourite hero of all time. But, defending him everytime for all his grave mistakes is like giving him another chance to do mistakes.

It's cos fans focus more on Raman, but not on Ishita. And, that's why CVs get more chances to focus on him and make him real. I don't want to say it, but sometimes I feel Ekta is a bit biased towards her friends in terms of giving scopes.

Thank you!! I am extremely upset with his behaviour as well, because even I thought he was smarter than that. But so many times, I have done things that if I look back on, I wonder what the hell I was even thinking. It happens, his biggest mistake is not telling Ishita, that is something he is going to suffer for, because he has broken her trust by hiding that. It's like a child sneaking out to a party, but doesn't want to tell their parents because something happened that would implicate them. We do it and regret it later. I know he will too, because Ishita though a lovely woman, values her trust.

You know the problem is there are very less people like Ishita. You came across with one, I too have an aunty like her. That's why we can understand that in reality such people exist. But, most of us here may have not seen one like her, so they are all fida over only Raman as a real character. But, Ishita exists. May be later in the life some will meet someone like Ishita. Then, they will know how difficult it is to live like Ishita and how easier is it to live like Ishita.
