I dont get one thing- Can't people get the same idea? I watch very few Hollywood movies but what if I have an idea about a particular scene/subject of a movie that resemblesan existing film? Why should I give credit to that movie for something I thought on my own? It's not possible that only one person will have such an idea.
But when you genuinely are inspired by something, you should acknowledge. I was surprised when the director of 22 female kottayam actually credited Ek Hasina Thi in the credits. That's something people should so when you know that you are copying.

Well Barfi was blatantly picked from one of my most favourite movies and novel The Notebook and I watched Kramer vs Kramer after watching Akele Hum Akele Hum..the only two mentionable plagiarised work of Bollywood that I have liked from the ones I have watched..So..if the adaptation is done well..and the due credit is given..I think its fine..There is nothing wrong in getting inspired..If it is a good inspiration
