She was the chaand, beautiful, pure, out of this world, like the moon and he the Chakor, the mystical indian sub continent bird, symbolizing intense and often unrequited love. It is said that the Chakor, (Chuker Partridge) stares at the moon constantly with a lot of wanting and longing, knowing its out of reach, yet unable to help himself.
Paro looked totally celestial, breathtakingly ethereal, standing in the Jharokha. And the moment he glances up, he is spell bound. His eyes drinking her in, her pure beauty, her innocent, cherubic smile, making his heart turn over.
The imli ka buta sequence, where the heart warming bromance, brought a cute smile to her face, he glances up for the first time and sees her happiness. Her smile lightening up the world. His eyes soften, his expression and stance become less stern, less aloof. You can sense that he likes her smile, her reaction to the brother bonding. He understands the importance of that tiny rare smile that was put on her lips by familial ties. Just for a moment he is happy to see her happy. Her appearance a constant distraction for him. Paro was busy enjoying the sangeet, while he was enjoying Paro. He couldn't take his eyes and mind off her. Rudra was more focused on his Chaand and less on the happenings around him.
The next was the Tujh mein Rab dikhta hai sequence, and what a subtle change of expressions in just a few seconds. Paro's satisfaction and gratitude reflected on her face, and his ever alert eyes noting every fleeting emotion on her visage. And then his eyes reflect a strange, haunting wistfulness. A momentary wish, a distant dream, a whisper of a desire to belong as he gazes at her. His heart in his eyes for a fleeing moment. And then she sees him and her smile disappears. Rudra schools his emotions, instantly the tiny glimpse of humanity squashed, back to his indifferent act. And he actually raises an eyebrow and give a slight shake of his head to communicate his disdain, his disbelief at such foolishness. And he swiftly sends the message across to her, wordlessly, such vows of love, such promises of faith...all nonsense, sheer crap!!
And the last sequence, their communication more profound, their understanding more direct. He orders and she obeys. The Major taking over once again, both back to their original positions.
And when she left, she took away his peace. Her absence left him totally restless, as if she had walked away with a part of him. He was on hot coals, his soul on pins, wanting to go seek her and yet unable to do so due to Laila. Rudra's impatience, his discomfort, a treat to behold. He was getting desperate with every passing minute...to get to her.
Chaand and Chakor...she high up there, pure, un reachable...he realizes he cant get her, yet he gazes, looking up, helplessly caught in a trance.
What stayed with me...Ashish and Sanaya...and their mind blowing usage of eyes. Its difficult but every moment brought a new shade. Every glance a new meaning...wonderful!! Ashish was fantabulous, his eyes definitely deserve a minute re watch...trust me you wont be disappointed!! His subtlety will leave you speechless...
Again what stayed was a contrast...he was standing with them...yet he didn't belong, not wanting to be a part of the family...she was standing afar, yet she was one with them.
Another contrast...he cant feel anything for any of them although they are his family while she puts aside her pains to smile at other's happiness. What selflessness...what a pure heart...indeed an innocent soul...we love you Paro Bai Sa!!
