1. If the Balaji wardrobe department doesnt give Asha Negi any new clothes or styles to wear that is not her fault. She has to wear what director tells her to...

2. Onir and Purvi are poor right now so shes just wearing her old Kolkata clothes. How can she buy new clothes when they barely have the money for household expenses and baby Pari's needs. Every parent knows how much baby food, clothes, medicines can cost and they dont have any money now. I guess poverty is a crime where Purvi is concerned.

3. In all Ekta show or any other Bengali culture based show like Pratima, whenever they show Bengali characters or family, the women always wear traditional Bengali style saris with puffed sleeve blouses.
Modern women in South Kolkata dont wear sari that way, but some traditional households in ancient North Kolkata still do...Onir's house in the show is probably in North Kolkata as its an old house with stained glass windows mostly seen in old houses in North Kol..

This is a show and these people are not real, the character wears what she/he is given by the CVs so let us not pick any character apart for what they are shown wearing.

Remember Arjun was seen in the same jacket , night and day? Ovi too could have done with a different style in salwars, Purvi could definitely use new colorful saris. Even if she cannot afford more than two, they don't need to be drab and dull but if that is what the character is given, what choice does she have? Unless like Anki she starts wearing her own clothes on the set and that I am sure would be criticized as way too inappropriate, it would be asked - how could she squander Onir's money on such hep clothes, she could buy milk for Pari with that, she is a sanskari married girl, why is she sporting jeans and those tops, the complaint list would be endless, better these backless cholis she has had in her wardrobe than that.

Kools, why do you say Ovi does not have sanskars? If you don't mind, how do you define sanskars? To me sanskars just mean principles, they may vary from place to place but the basic ethics that govern them remain the same no matter India, Canada or Timbuktu.

Never saw Purvi travelling in a public bus in Kolkata. She was travelling by taxis or autos.

Same logic applies to Ovi...how can she wear those short dresses, halternecks in a Mumbai chawl? Will the residents accept it? Wont the chawl's young men be incited to comment?

Teju is wearing jeans and kurtis in the chawl and some men did heckle her in the market, but did that stop her from wearing those pants?

Actually I dont know abt Mumbai public but in Kolkata married women get more respect and few people ever pass comments on a married woman wearing saris or even backless blouses. I have seen moms taking kids to school wearing fancy cutout blouses, even a lady in a local grocery store with a strappy blouse, etc. Nobody bothered so much abt them. People/ men have better things to do...

Nope . Ovi does NOT have the sanskaars that Purvi has ...this is what the serial shows . It is the story . Odd way of showing it since Purvi has the unwed pregnancy and wears those blouses all the time .

About the maid . Precisely my point . Purvi as a character will NOT wear fancy dresses imitating any fashion ...a maid may . Purvi is NOT a maid .

@bold

Aren't maids human beings...? Or are they some special breed? As for copying fashion trends, so middle-class women sport original designer wear...? Do they not copy fashion trends? Where does it say that Purvi will or will not wear a particular kind of dress? What is so titillating about low cut backs? Sarees are possibly far more titillating as a costume than a shalwar suit or a dress. They bare the midriff which is considered an erogenous zone. Going by that yardstick and by the general understanding of Purvi's character on this forum, she should not even wear sarees. She should probably wear sackcloth and ashes although am sure people would have a problem with that too!

I hold no brief for Ovi or Purvi or any of these silly characters after a point...but the value judgments and generalizations being made here are rather disturbing...all in the name of upholding one silly fictional character against another!

Pallavi, she was shown in a public bus in one instance only when Onir had parked his car too far away and they had to go attend to some man's wife in a hurry on the Durga puja day. Onir was with her on the bus and that was an an exception, I presume.

OK I probably missed that scene. But Onir was with her and the married lady with sindoor still accords respect in buses even if travelling alone in Kolkata.
Like I said Ive ridden a taxi alone at 9 pm returning from a mall and didnt feel unsafe at all.

Pallavi, Onir had to get to the patient in a hurry and since he had parked his car far away, he suggests they go by bus with the patient's husband.

Purvi is bad because she wears backless blouses in Mumbai...what a logical reasoning!😆

Did we ever look at it this way? Purvi Onir dont have money to buy essential things. They are struggling daily, barely have money to buy Pari's milk or other necessities.
Purvi brought those blouses from Kolkata where she wore them on a daily basis. Now in Mumbai they are practically poverty stricken.
Yet nobody has pity on them but on that rich, snooty Ovi who leads a privileged life yet sobs all the time for her deprivations and drinks herself to death.

If Purvi Onir dont have the money how will they buy new blouses and saris for Purvi?
If Ekta doesnt supply good wigs and fancy dresses to Asha Negi then what can she do?🤔

She became poverty stricken now , according to PR calendar she has been around for 4 months or more
Are you telling me she had no money to make backless blouses all this time
Ovi can be blamed for a lot of things ; for obsessing over Arjun , for proposing a deal with Arjun , for drinking during pregnancy
But if Ovi dug her own grave , Purvi dug everyone's grave but hers
Arjun's, ovi's, ovi's still born's , Pari's, ,Onir's
In everything she has done , she has not suffered the least bit
Arjun has been tied to a loveless marriage
Ovi was not informed of her still born
Onir's career had been destroyed
Ovi's stillborn was not fortunate to even see their mom
Pari is shuffling like a toy
And among all this ? Purvi is happy , she blames Ovi for not living up to her vishwaas
Oh please.
Purvi is not ONLY blamed for her backless blouses , she is blamed for all the things she has done wrong
I know many people in forum has blamed her for accepting Arjun after she learned of his prior commitment to Ovi
But I don't , because she loved him and he loved her
I blame her for forcing Arjun into marrying Ovi

Sharadrocks, great posts. Agree, how could anyone blame any girl's attire for the indecency of the men that ogle her? Rolls of fat, muffin tops, yes, they may not look appealing but we sure can avert our eyes. It is the prerogative of the woman to dress how she pleases, tasteful dressing is admired but if not, we can always look away and who is to define tasteful anyway?

Precisely my point. If Purvi wants to wear low cut blouses or even micro minis, who is to stop her? What is this thing of going against a character? Was she shown to be a nun? Isn't she a normal twenty year old who probably likes to wear colourful and pretty clothes like any other. Maybe, she did not have the opportunity to do that while living with the stuffy Sulochana. Maybe Kolkatta gave her the opportunity to explore her repressed fashion sense?

Why are we hellbent on stereotyping people? And making value judgments?
