According to some opinions, backless blouses are absolutely taboo in a modern city like Mumbai, also Bengali style saris. Well, thats certainly news to me...I had different ideas abt Mumbai nagari...😕
My sister just moved to Mumbai last week, I shd probably advise her to be covered from head to toe if she ever visits Dombivli or other such "middle class" areas. Covered fully even in the midst of summer?😲...NAAAHHH...Not happening! 😆
Purvi is a married lady now and its perfectly normal for her to wear saris, whether regular style or Bengali style. Or for that matter Gujju style or Marathi style. People wont look at her back the same way as they would look at Ovi's exposed legs or shoulders and upper chest. 😉

Pallavi Di tell your sister not to worry, people wear backless blouses in India all the time , especially Mumbai. When I went last December, I went for my mama's wedding. I was wearing a saree and obviously I chose one that is in fashion right now, which is the net saree and it is very common there, now with that, my blouse WAS backless, but it was not bad or unconservative, its common . Now I dont know about you all, but im young, and I love wearing sarees, I am not going to wear a fancy saree than a blouse like Savita wears.

I dont wear backless blouses myself because I no longer have the age or figure to wear it. But of course young women like you or Purvi can wear them anywhere and anytime. Purvi's blouse is not really backless by the way, I was watching her vdo with baby Zoya for mother's day and the blouse just has a low cut back with a string on top. Really backless blouses are like the chaniya choli where the entire back is attached only with strings and theres no cloth part with hooks.

I'm watching the episode as we speak as it is just now airing here and it is fine, Archana has worn a lower one than that when she wore her anarkalis, and people are making a big deal out of this!! 😆 People like that make me laugh.

Just watched Friday's episode repeat on zee...Purvi has 2 new saris! HIP HIP HOORAY! 😆
And shes wearing the saris regular style, not Bengali style anymore...so one objection is gone! 😆
And definitely her blouse is not backless but a deep U cut with a cloth piece attached by hooks at the bottom.

At least recently she has been tying the sarin the traditional Bengali way, but neatly. When she was pregnant then she tied her sari very untidily. Now she looks elegant although she is still using the traditional style.

Ok guys , the whole debate on Purvi's blouse has gone a bit too far now with questions being asked on culture and stuffs which r a bit too sensitive .. only reason we hv kept it opened for so long is because we dont want to curtail the freedom of our members out here but now that the whole debate over it has almost ended , I m closing it now .. Also this is to let everyone know that necessary action has been taken against the members who hv broken some rules in this post
