Dear bee5,
Thanks a lot for setting out in detail, and so comprehensively and clearly, all those instances that bear out what I had written above, that " It is not a question of mixed signals from Manav, Ash, as I have tried to explain above. It is rather a question of Purvi not being able to, or rather not wanting to pick up perfectly clear signals".
@red. You are spot on here, and I too had repeatedly stressed the need for greater sensitivity on the part of both Arjun and Purvi. They are very nice and truly loveable kids, but they seem to have zero ability to think themselves into Manav's shoes, especially Arjun.
Manav went out on a limb both at the time of the MMS scandal and again when Punni created that scene at the birthday party, to defend them both unquestioningly and very strongly. When the truth came out, he must have felt as though he had been punched in the solar plexus.
As you have noted here, by now, Arjun should have at least tried to explain the sequence of events to Manav, seeing that it was his footdragging (for whatever reasons, mostly ill-considered) that prolonged the impression, especially on the side of Ovi and her family, of a perfectly normal and happy engagement, and made matters that much worse now.
Anyhow, I suppose it will all drag on, and Punni the Plotter and/or Vishnu the Villain will win the next round, leading to our lovebirds going back to the old days of misunderstandings or sacrifice or whatever. Arjun will sigh soulfully as he looks at Aashana's photo, and Purvi will shed plenty of not so photogenic tears (she should take a crash course from Archana on How to Cry Profusely and Still Look Pretty). Plus we will have Aahatein or Hai Rabba back on the soundtrack.
Shyamala
OTE=bee5]Jyo & Ash,
Manav did promise that he would be there for Purvi for her good-times and bad-times. But back then the situation was different than it is now. Now when his bad-times are due to that same girl to whom he promised to be there for, then he definitely will not be expected to fulfill his promise.
Ever since Manav came to know about Arjun-Purvi, I don't think Manav has even talked to Purvi properly. If I remember correctly these are encounters they have had:
1. When Sulo is hospitalized, Manav did not talk to Purvi.
2. When Purvi got kidnapped and he went to pay the ransom, he did not talk to her, Arjun was already there with Purvi.
3. During Dahi-Handi she tried to take his blessings, at that time he was being courteous. I should actually not even mention this encounter bcos it was more for Vishnu to get to know that Purvi is Manav's daughter too so that he could later extract ransom out of Manav than anything else. CVs could come up with only that idea at that time!
4. When Arjun was brought to the hospital, Purvi in a panic state pleads Manav to do anything to save him. All he did was try and comfort her as any other person in his place at that time would've done. Here again there was no more conversation.
5. When SP Rane wanted Purvi's statement, Manav calls up Purvi and informs her. After he has given the information, he disconnects the phone, but it is Purvi who wants to continue to talk.
6. Manav sending gift to Purvi on her engagement was more bcos Archana kept pestering (almost begging) Manav telling stories of how Purvi regards him as his baba and all ... As a courtesy he sent a gift. On receiving the gift Purvi calls Manav to thank. All Manav says is Hmmm... as if to say 'All Right' and that is it. Purvi is still crying and expected him to talk more and he doesn't.
So, where in all this is Manav giving wrong signals to Purvi?
As I see it, it is Purvi who is expecting Manav to forgive, forget and be there for her for her happiness. Purvi is happy, but what about Manav? Isn't he hurt by what has happened? Manav doesn't know what really happened between Arjun and Purvi. Should he have known? Arjun came and declared that he loves Purvi, but till date, he hasn't clarified to Manav, Ovi or Archana.
The day Purvi gets slapped by Archana and is walking on the roads, she calls up Arjun and tells him to clarify to Archana that when she fell in love with Arjun, she wasn't aware of anything between Arjun and Ovi. Arjun did not clarify or rather he did not get a chance to clarify that day. But even Purvi hasn't clarified it to either Archana or Manav.
What happened was not a mistake of Arjun or Purvi, but when both of them haven't clarified what really happened, then how can they expect others to forgive them, when those people got hurt due to that?
Now, Arjun got Purvi and Purvi got Arjun. Arjun and Purvi are happy. Even I am happy, but what about Manav who trusted both Purvi and Arjun? After Arjun declared his love, they both had so much of time. If they couldn't tell, they could've have emailed, or even written a letter.
Both Arjun and Purvi in their happiness seem to forget there are other people who are hurt, especially Manav, whom Arjun keeps referring as his idol.
Both Arjun and Purvi haven't committed any mistake, so, there is no need to ask for forgiveness, but atleast clarify and explain what really happened to the other party involved. Instead they seem to be in a bubble of their own and expect everyone to be present for their happy occasion.
If today Manav did not say the words he did, that, "I am here for my daughter Ovi's sake and not for Purvi", he is right and it was good he said so. Otherwise these 2 giddy in love, would be under the false impression that Manav was there for their sake. It was good their bubble was burst.
I do not expect Purvi to sacrifice Arjun for any reason, but when she got what she wanted (Arjun), I expect her to think about other's now, at least her baba, who accepted her without a single question asked, when he had no reason to do so (Archana had already accepted that it was she who infact sent the divorce papers.). He is the one who is in need. I at least expect her to be a little sensitive about Manav's grief in all this. If she cannot do that, then at least she should back off a little and let him grieve and not expect him to forget his sadness and be happy for her, just bcos she is happy.
