Jyoti,

I agree completely with your views on all these points.

It is strange that all those who want DK and/or Arjun to try and talk Ovi into being sensible do not realise that this would be like a red rag to a bull.

It is even stranger that they have no similar advice to offer Archana. Yes, it would be tough for her to try and get close to Ovi without getting Purvi to abandon Arjun (now a non-starter), but she should at least try. Why does she not tell the girls the truth about why she did not accompany Manav to Canada? Maybe not the whole truth, but at least what she knows and believes in? That kind of heart to heart is essential for clearing the air, and only then will she be able to make any progress with Ovi on the Arjun issue.

@red. The worst and most incomprehensible thing to me is that she does NOT tell Manav that it was Arjun who saved Sulochana's life. That is to say, it was incomprehensible till I read your explanation about her single-minded concentration on not displeasing Manav. It is a great pity she did not have the same single-mindedness at the time of the chawl demolition affair, or when she handed Soham over to Varsha at the birthday party, in clear defiance of Manav's express warning,

"Our Arjun and Purvi are now a real, true blue couple, comfortable with each other and with their love, which no longer needs any of the traditional props: repeated affirmations that "I love you", or hugs and kisses. It has outgrown all this, and can survive and thrive on just a glance from across the street. It is this, and even more so the swift emergence of the newly confident Purvi - ready to stand up for her love and her lover, without yielding an inch, even when confronted unexpectedly by Ovi, and in defiance of her aai's diktats - that gives me, and should give us all, fresh hope. Hope that when the chips are down and they have their back to the wall, Purvi will not be Arjun's weakness, his Achilles' heel, but his strength, and that together as one, they will prevail. "

Shyamala,

What you said above gladdens my heart like nothing else does. The way Purvi is emerging really boosts our confidence for our boy because I do foresee a refusal from the QM/WSM even with the 10K deposit from Arjun. She reaffirms it in the pre-cap,,"I do not want your family to be unhappy because of my family"...or something to that extent. So, if she gives approval to ARVI, this is not possible. Hence, she will not.

I have always maintained that Archana is doing it more for Manav than for Ovi. Archana's narrow thought process always revolves around not displeasing Manav even at the expense of her own children. I had written on another post yesterday about this. After she came back from the hospital, in her infamous dialogue with Manav ("I do not want to hide anything from you"..) she is almost apologetic that Purvi bailed Arjun out. Why?? She could have said it as a matter of fact. Getting arjun out has nothing to do with his approval.

Have you seen Archana till now trying to deal with Ovi's unhappiness? She has not even attempted to talk to either Ovi or Manav about it till now. Which still surprises me..If she spends half the time trying to work on that, rather than the time she spends policing Purvi at the K house..that would be useful.

Such is the sad state of Ovi, in addition to losing her love, she is not getting any help from both her parents regarding this.

Well, now that our boy is all set to break the hundi ( a la Manav style, as they all claim !!), let us root for him now that he doesnt fall and break that precious Kirloskar back !! He is getting too overzealous in this mechanic avtaar 😊...

Yes, Glad to see that the Arjun Kirloskar still exists in him...maybe not the khadoos anymore..as he claims..but AK prevails..!! Hallelujah !!!

Dear Nomad and Malathi,

As you know from experience, words rarely fail me, but this is one of those very unusual situations when I am left with nothing to say, but thanks and thanks again.

I was intrigued to see that nomad has actually made out a case, based on solid research, for my being able to either read or influence the minds of the CVs. And here I was thinking that my record in this respect was abysmal! The thumping sound you both hear is me patting myself on the back.

It is amazingly kind of you both to say that after reading my posts, you feel that you can do without both the written updates (how unfailingly painstaking and thorough Tanyaz is with them; it is truly admirable!) and the telecasts. I beg to differ. Please do not miss the telecasts, for nothing can fully convey the nuance of a glance or a smile or a dreaming face as the telecast can. I do my best, but it is the result of an individual and selective perception, and it cannot beat the visuals. Actually the two supplement and complement each other.

What I am happiest about in my latest post is the heart-rending quotation from Aeschylus. The Greeks knew more about the deep recesses of the human heart than any other people, and then they were inured to tragedy.

Dear Jai,

Thank you so much for being so kind about my latest post.

There are so many things in your post with which I agree, and so many others with which I don't, that it would take up too much of your time to read them even were I to list them out!

I feel very bad for Ovi, and can only hope that the solution suggested by Aeschylus works for her. The Greeks were wiser in the matters of the heart than any other people, especially about the tragedies that rend it, for they were inured to tragedy and afraid of too much happiness.

I too was delighted to see a flash, albeit a very brief one, of Arjun Kirloskar yesterday. At least he is still there somewhere under that loud and undoubtedly grubby checked shirt!

Hi Shymala wonderful post as usual..I am sorry you may call me a relentless one but for me DK negligence towards Ovi after all the mess he created and not even caring to even see her knowing her how obsessed she can turn out (especially in the absence of motherly love as he himself knows about it) makes me no fan of his for sure. I was once his great fan but not now for his negligence of people.
Today epi clearly proved that Archu is not blocking Arvi for Ovi's sake as she herself wants Ovi to come out of Arjun's state. The thing that is blocking her is Arjun's two timing aspect which is correct.Any concerned parent will do the same thing when they see a guy getting engaged to a girl and later says that he is in love with another girl.It does not matter if it's Ovi or someone else, even if it was someone else apart from Ovi any parent would be skeptic to believe a guy who after his engagement says he loves another girl and this is a fact.
How will any parent trust such a guy. Now all this mess has been done due to DK-Arjun not opening their mouth when it mattered. This has created a major MU for MAnav n Archu. Had DK opened his mouth right then instantly after engagement at least instead of going to Australia things could have been little different.
Arjun also kept shut. Its fact that both DK n Arjun have created this mess by just keeping quiet. So Archu has every right on that aspect to be angry on Arjun and doubt him no matter how good he is. Archu knows Arjun is a good boy but his 2 timing aspect misrepresentation is hard for any parent to go by.
And Archu is right on her stand there. Its going to take time for Archu to come out of that 2 timing aspect of Arjun n accept him. DK has not taken any step to show his concern over Ovi. When the other side is not showing concern on Ovi,things wont help either.
DK should be the person to interact with Ovi along with Manav. DK needs to accompany Archu n Manav to talk to Ovi.
Ovi in short needs medical help. She has become mentally unstable. This incident has shocked her pretty bad.For the mess DK has created ,I firmly believe DK should show some concern over Ovi if he truly considered Ovi as his barbie doll once.
Manav really now needs to pack up Ovi back to Canada or some other place. She needs major help. She may be obsessed with Arjun but the fact is she loves Arjun madly and the idea of not being with him has made her go mad n hence she is obsessed and is not able to accept the fact Arjun does not love her. She needs good medical help or otherwise she is going to end up in Asylum.
I hope before Soham track they end this challenge fiasco unite Arvi ,make ovi come out of this mess and move with other tracks. They are going no where.
And now this dahi -aandi stuff. This is ridiculous. Trying to copy old story and make Arjun follow like Manav is stupid .Certain aspects suite certain characters and the story that time was made for Manav ,now trying to make Arjun follow Manav is spoiling Arjun's character and loose his originality. They need to bring back the MBA Arjun and not mechanic Arjun. This is surely loosing originality. And its degrading /depressing to show a MBA guy working as mechanic whereas he could be shown to work in say at least a small office. Manav was not well read ,he sacrificed his education for his family ,why the equation is being made between that scenario n this. There is no comparison .Arjun is well read and he needs to be shown working in some office at least and not loose the originality n show him follow like Manav. I just hope once this challenge fiasco is over ,Arjun is back to his work soon. This pathetic story track has made all characters to loose their originality.

Yes, Laurie dear, the APP should rejoice, but cautiously, so as not to rile the jealous CVs. I too feel the approaching shadow of uncertainty and even loss, like the shadows cast by the black wings of the Nazguls' mounts in The Lord of the Rings.

We can take a lesson or two from Aeschylus & Co in this respect, for the Greeks were accustomed to tragedy, taking it almost as an inevitable part of the human condition, and were apprehensive of too much happiness. The Arjun-Purvi track is going so well of late that I am beginning to have Greek-style presentiments. Incidentally, I loved that "
the tendrils of presentiment are slowly snaking its bony, maleficent fingers around the ankles of these two stargazing lovers".

Let us hope that whatever lies ahead is not too bad, and let us not permit our fears about it to cloud the present.

Shyamala Aunty.

So very proud of my beautiful butterfly Purvi today! 👏
We, of the A.P.P., are very much enjoying the 'spolis of war' at this juncture. 😎
Confidence in her love is very becoming on her 😃
I, too, felt bad for Ovi and I hope with time and a very good dose of realism that she begins to heal. Archana has to be a big part of that and I have a feeling that Archana will only truly accept Arjun as the best choice for Purvi after she has a REAL heart to heart with Ovi (or overhears from Ovi that Arjun never loved her before or something to that effect) but I have no hopes of it being that clear cut.
Unfortunately, love can be the biggest boon or the worst pitfall - the worst of them being unrequited love. Ovi has a very bad case of the latter. Hopefully Romil (or someone else) makes an appearance soon and saves Ovi from this downward spiral. She deserves to be happy too 😃
I miss the khadoos boss, Arjun Kirloskar, and one can only hope that he reappears sometime in the future. Arjun, 'the common man', still does not gel with me but I like looking at his mug so it doesn't hurt that much 😆
One thing is for certain though, the tendrils of presentiment are slowly snaking its bony, maleficent fingers around the ankles of these two stargazing lovers.
This pernicious disease promises brutal maladies of the spirit but I am eternally confident that they both can survive it all as each other's strength. 😍
All tracks now are ramping up in intensity for some big drama to happen soon... very exciting times ahead. 👍🏼

Dear Rachel,

Your comments, amplifying those in my post, are very interesting, and if I were to comment in turn on your comments, I would try your patience and my fingers alike, so I shall desist. Some of my responses to others in this thread relate to the some of the points you have raised here, and you might find them of interest.

As for "
WHY couldnt the creative team do with the same Arjun who had an MBA with the same post ?", why, my dear, is the answer not obvious? What would happen then to the virtues of chawl life that are relentlessly pushed down our throats, so much so that any attempt to move out of the stranglehold of the chawl, or even to improve it in situ, as Manav tried to do in PR I, is seen as tantamount to treason ? PR with a naughty, breezy upper middle class strand grafted on to it? Horror!

About the DK-Manav-Ovi suggestions, I do not agree with them, for reasons that I have set out at length many times, including in this thread, but carrying conviction to others is not in my hands, of course.

Lastly, I was delighted to have at least one person react to that heartrending quotation from Aeschylus as I do. I get a lump in my throat every time I read it. A very special pat on the back from me to you for that!!

Shyamala

My dear Shyamala,
Yet again, a good post updating Purvi's progress...all well said...Loved the interaction between Arjun Purvi and yes, glimpes of our very own AK, very well done by the CVs...it was very touching when Arjun said to Purvi that their road was separate from that point...and quickly added only FOR NOW...
Loved Sulo yet again confronting Archana, and yet again, alas! Sulo getting mislead, as in her mind its the reaffirmation of the growing acceptance of ARVI love in Archana's mind somewhere...but as you have rightly pointed out that that is not the case with Archana and she is no where close to accepting Arjun-Purvi's love for each other. Still cannot believe Archana, professes to have Purvi's best interest at heart, still has not had a heart to heart about the whole thing with Purvi and got her perspective on this...as JD points out and have others, Archana is all too consumed by trying to please Manav and be in his good books!
Me too, loved that line in Laurie's post that you commended her on...what a beautiful way to warn us unsuspecting fans...of the impending gloom and the dark clouds circling over our Arjun-Purvi...
The quote was brilliant too, and you and Laurie have this brilliant knack- and Janhvi too- miss her too (Janhvi will be immensely pleased at the last couple of updates you have had on her ladli Purvi😳😉)- gosh when is she returning from India- of quoting the right people at the very right points...

You see, the 10K credit to the Archana fund is not going to help Arjun. As long as Manav is unhappy about ARVI, Archana will not agree to their union so try not to have too many hopes on it. They have been showing so much of the lovey dovey stuff for ARVI, that makes me nervous. nazar lag jayegi...crossing my fingers for any impending problems...As long as they stick to each other, they will survive...

Abhi,
It WAS very touching when Arjun says our their road was separate from that point, and Purvi's reaction to it. You can see the joy go out of her, and Arjun immediately rallies back saying "just for now" but keeps looking at her to make sure she is ok and tries to revive her spirits. She tries bravely to give him a reassuring smile...not too successfully..but just to satisfy him.
That few seconds were beautifully done by both of them. In all their scenes, atleast recently, you see these small nuances that are so beautifully done without any words, that really touch your heart and makes you go awww...😳.. It makes you feel so protective of them, isnt it !!
