PR Today: Purvi's Progress - Page 5

No, Jyoti, no thread, separate or otherwise. I have a day (or rather night) off and I now realise how I have got myself chained to this idiotic serial just because of a boy with a Chesire cat grin and a girl with a fine boned, elegant face. It is like being on a treadmill and unable to get off, and so a break of 3 days is sheer Heaven.

The Bihar apaharan (kidnapping) industry is well known, and it has queer variations, like kidnapping bridegrooms whose parents demand too much dowry, and getting them married to the original bride without any. Apparently many of these marriages turn out well to boot!

However, Ekta's team has given the apaharan mafia in Bihar a national reach that is non-existent. But who cares? So we have this moustachioed chap, who looks like a Chambal ka daku, sitting in a tabela (cattle shed) and organising kidnappings long distance all over the country! And his Vishnu beta (Soham) is a dyed in the wool thug who is now going to kidnap his own father for ransom. Neat, and this completes the troika of weird kids Manav and Archana have. Wonder where Varsha is, and whether she has also set up as a Godmother in another tabela.

I wonder how on earth even a CV team as zany as that of PR can rehabilitate a hard-boiled kidnapper (and often, kidnappings end up in murder, for fear that the victim might be able to recognise the criminals who snatched him) just because he is the son of the main leads. A pickpocket or a petty thief is one thing, this kind of hard core criminal is quite another. One thing is likely, that Arjun-Purvi will soon recede to the semi-background as Soham takes centre stage, unless of course Arjun saves Manav from him. Actually, kidnapping Manav would not be very difficult, as he seems to have zero consciousness of any threat of this kind and thus takes no precautions.

Well, there is going to be a stepped up demand for both Vicks and glycerine, that is for sure.

If anyone is interested in an entertaining spoof on the Bihar kidnapping mafias, I would recommend Phas gaya re Obama, with Rajat Kapoor. It is a totally black comedy, but very funny.

PS: It did not look as though Puru Chibber has quit PR after all, as he has had an image makeover that is at least partially successful. No one really wants of offend the queen bee of Balaji, for fear of ending up like poor Rajiv Khandelwal.

What a wasteful episode for a Friday !! The D-family drama is as predictable as always 😒. It lacks interest or punch in it..

For some reason, they seem to not include Ovi in these family get togethers.. Poor gal !! she only has appearances when it is high drama time !! Even Sachin got a chance.. :) Looks like he is reinstated iwth a clean shaven younger look.

The most ridiculous plot of NON-PR-1 drama is on now - of Manav's abduction. that should please some..
One possible silver lining for us in this, is that, Arjun might end up rescuing Manav from Vishnu, which would earn endless brownie points from the Queen Mother. The sure way to her heart is Manav, remember !!! If Arjun can do that, then "Sab khoon maaf"..from Dear archana aunty.. This could also be the reason why Vishnu (Soham), will hate Arjun and create problems for ARVi as it has been claimed today.

I am going to have a nice stress-free weekend where I dont have to worry about ARVI...you guys have one too..

I am glad you enjoy my efforts with PR.

No, my dear, there is no question of Bappa handing over Arjun, trussed up hand and foot, to Ovi just because she walked a few kilometres barefoot to his temple. He would be far too sensible to do so.

I was only speculating about whether Bappa can be shown, in such a devout TV serial, as refusing to oblige a bhakt like Ovi, who seems to have met all the necessary conditions for wish-fulfillment. It is a little like the akhand soubhagyawati (eternally blessed wife) concept; if the wife is declared to have the akhand soubhagyawati lakshan in her horoscope (these serials are far more superstitious than even the most backward villager in India),her husband can never be shown as popping off.

Well, I am glad to know that if we do have to set up a Save DK Group, we can count on at least 3 members, Archana, you and me. Did you know that Naved Aslam, the actor who plays DK, had a fairly good role as Patrick, the right hand man of the Mumbai don, Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgan), in the successful 2011 film, Once upon a time in Mumbaii, incidentally also produced by Balaji? It was a good film noir, about the rise of Dawood Ibrahim. He also played an Indian intelligence officer in the excellent Ketan Mehta directed thriller, Time Bomb, made in 2005. He is invariably very competent, but even so, DK is a dream role for him.

You are welcome to join the Appreciate Purvi Program (APP); Jyoti has already invited you, and I would like to second her invitation. APP and PAP work in tandem to look after both their young charges, and there is bound to be a substantial overlap in the membership of both.

With that said... I would like to join with u and say that no matter what Dk says, Ovi will not understand and will not accept. Time and Distance is what she needs. So if you will start a support DK group, please know that I will be the 1st on the band wagon. I truly think DK is a good father. Ovi has her own father that is there supporting her along with the whole "Ovi is our Princess" fan club. So, it is only fair that Arjun has HIS dad to support him as well. Was it wrong what Arjun and DK did, with holding the truth so long - YES. But do I need to "hang, drawn and quartered" them? Certainly NOT!!!

lastly, I prob missed it or cant recall. But what is APP? I know PAP is Protect Arjun Project, of which i have always been a silent supporter.

1. I can also feel the storm coming... lovely description by Laurie, and for that I'm can only hope and pray that ArVi weathers it together and not Arjun and Purvi.

2. I really really really miss Arjun Kirloskar and hope to see him again soon. Actually, i want some of the boss mixed with the naughty and jovial chawl guy and he is pretty much perfect 😳

Like all of you, I know this is not the thread to comment on, but i find myself coming here because i find the conversations much more appealing than elsewhere. I honestly do not see what all the excitement is about Soham.

I have watched the show from the 1st episode and have always liked Manav and Archu. But there is just something about Arjun and Purvi that has captivated me even more so than the old ArMan. Maybe its the boy with a Chesire cat grin and a girl with a fine boned, elegant face that Miss Shyamala spoke of 😊.

I'm very sad by this new development, for I fear the CVs will make the HORRID mistake of neglecting ArVi and like u you Miss Shyalama said "Arjun-Purvi will soon recede to the semi-background as Soham takes centre stage".

If the CVs knows whats good for the show and the TRPs, they would try to maintain a balance. But... maybe equilibrium is a thought and a process that is still foreign to them. One can pray, hope and beg that this will not happen.

Maybe I should join Purvi and Ovi on their walk to Bhappa and ask for this.

But her extrapolation from this, and her asserting that whatever Archana might say to the contrary, subconsciously she wants Arjun to win, is quite dubious, and looks like nothing so much as wishful thinking on Sulochana's part. Wishful thinking seems to be a family trait, for Purvi perks up immediately, undoubtedly seeing a shaadi ka mandap (wedding pavilion) on the horizon already. She proceeds to hug her aaji, exulting over how well her aaji understands her aai, while I was lamenting this sudden fit of self-delusion.

Purvi's progress
This has the (to my mind) unfortunate effect of strengthening Sulochana's belief, which she had inculcated in Purvi as well the day before, that Archana has, in her heart of hearts, accepted the Arjun-Purvi relationship, even if she does not acknowledge it

Yes many of us think that Archana may not accept Arjun-Purvi's relationship.
But just like Purvi, I am being very optimistic about their relationship due to Sulochana's encouragement and acceptance.
You dont seem to think that way.."unforunate effect", "Self-Delusion" in the above parts are very discouraging..Can you explain why you think so? 😲

It is one thing for Purvi to realise that Archana has very strong objections to her marrying Arjun, and to try to tackle them, always with the knowledge that she might not succeed, since the determining factor, Ovi's misery, is beyond her control.

It is another for her, encouraged by Sulochana effectively doing to her what DK had done to Ovi earlier (which turned out to be the catalyst for the present mess, by giving Ovi delusions that Arjun had come to love her), to start interpreting every word that Archana utters in the light of this mistaken belief. When it turns out in the end that Archana has not budged, and will not budge an inch till Ovi recovers from her deewanapan for Arjun, the shock and disappointment for Purvi will be that much greater.

The other negative effect of such a wrong reading of Archana's intentions will be that Purvi will, in turn, mislead Arjun. Already, to judge from the way he reacted after she bailed him out despite her mother's fatwa, I feel that he has been infected by the sanskaari virus, a dangerous development. Any reinforcements of such tendencies would be most undesirable. It will merely reinforce the tendency to mathrubhakti in Purvi, which is a tad less now but might very well reappear, and then who knows where that will end?

PS: Every time I write a post analysing PR or replying to a query like the one above, I laugh at myself for what I am doing: spending valuable and non-retrievable time, so much of it, on such meaningless exercises that do no one any good, and not me for sure! We had a memorable get together of my folks (my college guys) and one of my friend who is doing theaters is soon to enter Balaji's new show pretty soon next year..He will be signing his contract with them by year end..Man engineers do make their mark..😆..

First Sushant, (Old Manav an engineer himself though he left it half way for acting), now my friend (my college mate) who worked in TCS India after his engineering ,left TCS ,into theaters and very soon with Balaji...God knows what will Balaji do with him 😆 ...Guess I should try my hand into this unknown waters too ,bored with the IT life here in US..😆 at least I will get some beautiful girls to interact with 😆

Well Arch/Shymala sorry my dears 😉 ,you are quite valid in ur points on DK-Ovi scenario but my point is there not even a iota of concern shown by DK at least a call to MAnav or Archu to ask how Ovi is doing or even to Tej to just inquire about her..His total negligence gets on my nerves. Well DK is responsible for the mess that is ,moral responsibility comes in here for knowing someone so long and you dont even bother to at least make a call inquiry of that disturbed/depressed soul. Hell she needs help ,good medical help.

But there is something called as courtesy which I don't see DK seems to be considering here. He does not have to visit here at least think about the situation she might be and make a inquiry to D's to show you care. Well the day DK shows some concern or does something to help Ovi direct/indirect way like getting a good doc or something else, I can be his fan once again.

DK was a cool dude in PR 1 and heck I was a fan of him right from that time as he was one of the sane characters apart from Satish present. But right now this indifference is not allowing me to recognize this DK anymore. Sorry I agree to disagree as usual on this case and I hope DK turns me his fan again soon..

I am so looking forward to this Manav kidnap track. Heck at least this I hope bridges some long lost gap between Archu n lot many folks.

I am sure Soham is not getting involved in Arvi unless he wants to take revenge on Arjun or something which is idiotic. Soham entry I hope focuses on him and Armam and that 18 year old long lasting wound and not deviate to create props for Arvi which is ridiculous.(First of all why Soham has to be negative infact why all Arman kids have to be either grey, obsessed or stupid is beyond me...It is really sad to see Arman kids being shown in such a pathetic way...😡...For the wonderful persons Arman are, at least Arman kids should have been shown to be sane at least..Guess too much to ask..With Soham shown to be a kidnapper ,its pathetic to say the least ,just hope this track at least brings something good )

One thing for we old school PR/Arman fans, we so missed that cutie young Soham and I am happy at least they got a good looking guy as Soham. Damn I miss that little Soham n Sachu..

Hope this track turns to be interesting and not a fiasco.And hope this challenge fiasco ends soon n Arjun gets back to his work rather than being a mechanic and they unite Arvi n move on rather than getting stuck n moving no where. This kidnap track is giving me some hope ,I hope CV's provide some thing good of the mess that exits!!!

Sorry for not getting to this earlier...have to admit got distracted by the weekend and then the Gold Awards!! I agree that it is too sad to see Soham in this type of light. It just seems so wrong that after the injustice of being shoved back and forth like a yo-yo between Archana and Varsha...this is the fate he grows up to. Balaji's Facebook message is really cryptic though...it seems like it is Soham but not Soham?? 😕...Not quite sure what to make of it...
