Dear Janhvi,

The part in red is spot on. But for the PoA, she would by now have staged at least a couple of walkouts.

You might also have seen my factual response to Archana.

Arch, I am hoping the POA will help show Purvi in a positive light to everyone. Not as a golddigger if the messy truth comes out but as a principled working girl who has the good of the company and the employees at heart. Reasons for DK to love her more as a daughter in law who will follow in Ashna's footsteps.

I also think the POA already sort of served its purpose, it tied Purvi to her job, she cannot leave even if she wants to now as everyone will wonder why.

I just cant believe that on a perfectly good and promising Friday night in the US I am sitting here on IF reading the posts and writing about ARVI...this is truly scary. Thankfully I am going to be going out and enjoying the night in a little while but until then this is my obsession frankly speaking- and I wouldnt be surprised if I also check on IF from my cell phone too from time to time :))

Dear Archana - What is this addiction you speak of? 😆

I WAS OUT TO DINNER checking IF on my phone and saw your post. I almost fell out of my chair laughing at the quote above. Needless to say, I was succinctly told to put my phone away or else I'd get no coconut ice-cream. 😆 And I really do like coconut ice-cream - it reminds me of my grandmother. So, here I am in the wee hours of the morning coming back on IF to catch up with you all 🤣 Thank you for sharing my passion ❤️

You bring up a good angle about the POA as I too feel that it will play a part in upcoming events but haven't quite worked out the details just yet. When the truth comes to light, Punni might be the one to point it out and claim that Purvi is a gold digger as she seduced Arjun to signing over the POA of the company to her. Turning the tables so to speak by casting her intentions on Purvi - maybe to win Ovi's confidence?

She might gain support because Sulo always questioned why Purvi was at the office so much... even Tej now. I also had a feeling that Punni would let it slip to Ovi that she made the MMS after she saw Arjun/Purvi at the conference in Pune but I don't think Punni is that remiss 😆

That is a very well worked out and plausible scenario, but I feel that you are thinking on these complicated lines for the very good reason that Arjun-Purvi keep ricocheting from one crisis to another, and we are always on the lookout for yet another disaster.

I would like you to consider three points, all of which are a matter of fact and not of interpretation.

1) When DK gets that call from Manav about his wanting to fix the marriage date, the first thing they show him as thinking of is Arjun saying that he cannot marry Ovi as he loves someone else, adding a moment later, in response to the sharp question from his father ,"Purvi". He had agreed to Arjun's change of heart not only because he loves his son (after his own dry fashion, but very deeply nonetheless, as a precious gift from his beloved wife), but also because he thinks his wife would have wanted Arjun to marry the girl he loves. He does not come over as the heavy handed father despite his initial, and entirely understandable, burst of anger. He will not go back on this.

Lastly, Archana, as regards the sentence in red, Punni is not thinking of tackling Arjun-Purvi first and then turning her sights on Ovi. It is in fact the opposite. She thinks that once Ovi is told about Arjun having an "affair' with Purvi, she will break the engagement (she does not know what Ovi is like when she is crossed!). As for Purvi, Punni is confident that after Arjun has once got engaged to Ovi, Purvi will not touch him with a barge pole. Thus she thinks that her road will be clear. What self-delusion!

Dear Shyamala - I do love your posts. They are so well structured and thought provoking and really get me thinking outside the box.

In reference to DK, he concerns me. In another post, I referred to DK's reaction to Arjun rejecting Purvi at the first instance of a JUNOV union. Infact, DK rebukes Arjun quite vehemently for dismissing Ovi's feelings.

I even saw remnants of that when Arjun refused to marry Ovi a second time. Arjun did play his trump card, Aashana, to get through to DK about how earnest his feelings were for Purvi and DK connected the dots himself.

DK still loves OVI - loves her like a daughter and makes me nervous because of that. He wants to see his son happy and but is he really convinced that Purvi is the one? I think it will be up to Purvi to make him have a change of heart.

As for Ovi, I agree with you all - she's in it for the long haul. Until that light goes on above her head about Arjun's platonic feelings for her and her acceptance of those feelings, she will not relent.

She is Punni's cousin after all 😆

Archana I have had similar fears of DK . His love of Ovi is a bit strange. I feel he is totally in love with her beauty. However after Shyamala post I will heed to her points and stay optimistic. She's definitely logical and eloquent in her arguments. And as for being obsessed with PR it is 3;30 in the morning in Silicon Valley and I am up writing to you lovely ladies :))) until moro

Dear Laurie,

Thanks a lot. You and I are well on the way to setting up a duly registered Mutual Admiration Society.

POA has kind of tied Purvi to her job. I remember her telling Archana that there is too much work due to this new responsibility and she wants to leave the job and Archana didnt support her. She hushed it up by saying she very well can handle her work load. I do think POA has bigger play than just this reason. Savita/Punni may give hard time to Purvi due to this POA. I dont think DK would. Let's see.

Shyamala, your post was extremely well-written, logical and factual as always. Thank u for the factual analysis to help me assuage my fears. Much of what u say makes sense and it is calming me for now, however, I do agree with Laurie to an extent (**grins**love the part about u being ordered to put ur phone away to get coconut ice cream btw) I don't think the POA is over yet. I know Jhanvi that u think it served its purpose but I don't think so. See even if Purvi didn't get POA and had rejoined office in her normal capacity, she still couldn't have quit- she would have raised suspicions regardless. The POA isn't what keeps her there. She rejoined after she and Arjun realized their love for each other...with or without POA if she had quit for the 3rd time, especially after the engagement, it would have definitely raised suspicions for sure. As was pointed out in the previous post she tried to claim work stress-Archana didn't buy it.

I agree with Laurie...there is something more to this. And Punni is back now. That's what has my hackles raised so much.

Dear aviaanya,

Thanks a million for the kind words; they always do me good!

My dear, what I find strange is that you think DK's love for Ovi to be " a bit strange". On the contrary, it is the most natural thing in the world. Aashana had always wanted one of Archana's and Manav's daughters to marry her Arjun , and so did Archana. In fact, the first thing DK says when Ovi and Arjun return from the party and announce that they have decided to get married, is "Well, at least Aashana's and Archana's dearest wish has been fulfilled", while Savita expresses muted disapproval from the sidelines.

DK has watched Ovi grow up from her babyhood, and now that she is a pretty (I do NOT think she is beautiful in any way; she needs a nose augmentation job to begin with, and her pout looks silly) and stylish, as opposed to the gangling, tomboyish Teju, he will naturally want Ovi for Arjun. This idea must have taken root a long time ago, which is why the normally distant DK always calls Ovi beti. It is a deep affection that begins with his beloved Aashana's wish, and by now it must have become a rooted habit - to think of her not so much as a daughter-in-law to be but as the daughter he would have wanted to have. Powerful men often want daughters they can pamper and in whose unquestioning adoration they can bask, even more than a son and heir. For DK, Ovi is all this.

Shyamala, POA might not cause any kind of estrangement between DK and Purvi but now that the others have pointed out might raise doubt in Sulo's mind and maybe Teju's mind as well.
Not sure if anyone else has noticed or if it is only my over active imagination but Teju is getting a bit louder and almost obnoxious in her bossiness. Not today, not at the lunch, she was sweet and caring but when Purvi refused to come to the party, and a couple of other occasions, I just have not liked her over zealous behavior. I love Tej don't get me wrong, maybe I am too sensitive when it comes to Purvi.
