In tamil therati means collect or gather. What our mothers and grandmas used to do was boil milk & sugar for hours, all the while stirring to bring it near-solid consistency- this is therati paal.

Thanks Giri....its clear now. What other delicacies can they do with this therati paal? Very interesting...we had seem paal earlier and now therati paal..!!👏

Kavitha, I have a favorto ask of you. When I was in Malaysia, I used to make some malaysian cookies for Deepavali and other festivals. One of my favorites is Biskut Semprit or Biskut Custard. I hav lost the recipe, if it is at all possible and if you have, could you please post the recipe here.

Thanks in advance.

Recipe request:

To Pat/Kavitha/Caryn (and those with Singapore/Malaysian roots 😉 )

I earlier requested some of these, but could've missed it and so posting it again.

* Do any of you have recipe for Vege Lo Mein (like they have in the restaurants)?

* We all love "Broccoli in Garlic sauce" at home. When I saw a few recipes, it says it requires Oyster sauce, which we don't eat. Is there any way of making this taste like restaurant's without adding oyster sauce. Any recipe ideas?

* There seems to be a egg kuzhambu which one can make without using boiled eggs (which I really dislike). Like by directly breaking the egg into kuzhambu and let it cook there. This is all the tip that I got from my husband who likes this a lot. Do you have a similar recipe?

Thank you.
