Naagin 7: Priyanka Chahar Choudhary unfit as snake maiden? Fans of older TV Naagins call out casting decision

Priyanka Chahar Choudhary has reportedly been finalised as the lead for Naagin 7. The Ekta Kapoor show saw its first season in 2015 with Mouni Roy as the OG Naagin whose name was Shivanya. She was the second season too before she exited TV for films. Some of the TV’s most popular actresses like Surbhi Jyoti, Nia Sharma/Jasmin Bhasin, Surbhi Chandna, Tejasswi Prakash have played the snake maiden.

The first three seasons were most successful TRP-wise. Many felt season 5 with Surbhi Chandna and Sharad Malhotra had a lot of potential but was marred due to a weak villain. Sudha Chandran as Yamini still remains the best baddie in the series.

People call out the casting of Priyanka Chahar Choudhary

Unfortunately, the fans of older ITV Naagins have been mocking the makers for casting Priyanka Chahar Choudhary. Some even said it was a complete downgrade, and would lead the franchise to disaster. Many said Isha Malviya was a better option.

It is normal tendency for ITV fans to troll rival actresses but it is hard to fathom this level of dislike for Priyanka Chahar Choudhary. People could have arrived at a judgement after seeing her on Naagin 7.

Unfair criticism of Priyanka Chahar Choudhary

Some of the online hate could be because of the recent separation from beau Ankit Gupta. There is no doubt that Mouni Roy was incomparable as Naagin. She had the looks, charisma and acting chops to stand up to Sudha Chandran’s powerful character. She was also a great dancer, which was like a plus point for the makers.

Naagin 7 will also have Donal Bisht as the second Naagin. It is rumoured that Avinash Mishra will step in as the leading man. Priyanka Chahar Choudhary has not done a daily soap after her stint on Bigg Boss 16. She finished as the third-runner up on the show after MC Stan (winner) and Shiv Thakare.
