Abhijeet & Shilpa charm NB judges

Nach couple Abhijeet Sawant and wife Shilpa performed the lezim portraying the Marathi culture this week on Nach Baliye 4. Their performance so impressed the judges that Karisma Kapoor actually came up on the dancing floor and performed on it as well.

"We performed on Malhaar wari which is a regional song. I was dressed in an orange nawaari. According to Marathi culture, it is believed that aapki wish poori hone ke baad jab aap bhagwan ke paas jaate ho tab uss bhagwaan ka ek roop aapmein kuch samay ke liye aa jaata hai. So that is what I had become," says Shilpa.

The producers of the show, Wizcraft International Entertainment , had set the theme as Celebration and by the end of their act Abhijeet and Shilpa were definitely celebrating! Their performance was loved by the audience and the thanks to the high energy level and immense enthusiasm the duo maintained in their act.

"All the judges including the jodis praised our performance. Arjun and Karisma kept praising us. Farah how ever felt that my energy level was comparatively low. I too felt the same," she adds.


Blown away by their performance, gorgeous Karisma switched from a judge to a dancer. "Karisma simply loved our performance as she recalled the time when she had performed lezim for the first time when she was in the 6th standard. She was wearing a saree that day but still she actually came up and performed it," says an impressed Shilpa.

Shilpa informs that neither she nor hubby Abhijeet had done lezim before but still they didn't have any problem having learnt it for the first time "We just followed our choreographers. Problem as such toh kuch bhi nahi hui. Par haan Abhi ka lezim toh toot hi gaya tha par still he continued swirling," praises the wife.

The episode will be on-aired tonight on Star Plus.

Kasturi's Jatin Shah's dad passes away

Jatin Shah, famous for being Ronak in Kasturi, has lost his father in Bhopal.

The actor rushed home on hearing of the news and we spoke to his friend Ali Merchant for details.

"His father had a heart attack last week," said Ali. Previously his father had not had a major problem with his health, Ali said, but this first attack was very severe. "Jatin was in Mumbai when it happened," said Ali, "he is here alone and his family is in Bhopal." Ali said Jatin was close to his family. "It was a huge shock to him and he left immediately when he heard the bad news," said Ali, "he is still with them." Jatin lived with a joint family there, he said. Ali said he had not been able to go with him when the event happened but "we will surely go and meet him as soon as he comes back."

Jatin got this painful blow in the same week that he got some good news. Over the weekend, he received his first award for acting, for his role in Kasturi in the Indian Telly Awards. Ali received the award on his behalf. Jatin and his girlfriend Priya Bhatija participated in Nach Baliye 4 but were eliminated after three weeks. Jatin debuted in television via Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, then he did Kasturi, Mahabharat and many other shows with Balaji.

Hiten-Gauri to host Nach Baliye

Popular small screen couple Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan will now be hosting Nach Baliye 4. What will interest their fans is that the couple is thinking of taking up hosting as a permanent thing.

"Yes, we will be hosting Nach for 2 episodes and we might even continue further" confirms Gauri, saying that she had been approached in the past as well but then had not had the time to spare from the shooting of serials.

This is the second time the couple will be seen as hosts; Tyohaar Dhamaka was the first time they hosted a reality show. So how comfortable are they with hosting, where they must behave naturally, as opposed to acting, where they must be melodramatic? We asked Gauri, who admitted: "I wasn't comfortable with hosting at all when I did those Diwali episodes but that went out pretty well. Now I am pretty fine with it, although I've some doubts which remain…" She concedes that her partner Hiten is "any time better than me when it comes to hosting." Hmmm, so she's not conceding his superiority in acting, then..."Hiten is more spontaneous and prominent," she explains, "I am a bit of a perfectionist, but at the same time I'm more conscious. He is much better."

Who is her favourite host? Rakshanda Khan, she says, her friend cum costar.

Aamir and Sanjeeda earlier hosted the dance show. They were followed by another couple, lovebirds Ali and Sara, who were special hosts for two episodes. After them came Aishwarya Majumdar (the winner of Chhote Ustad) and Fanaa's Ali Haji, who hosted four episodes. Gauri and Hiten might now see it through the end. They shot their first episode on Monday and it will be aired this Friday.
