Nach Baliye couple's joint birthday

Nach Baliye 4 couple Shaleen Bhanot and Daljeet Kaur share their birthday and they celebrated it together on Saturday, November 15. Scorpios are supposed to be passionate and Daljeet threw a surprise party for beau Shaleen, sending him into rapture. Daljeet also invited his parents over.

"I am extremely excited to see my family," an elated Shaleen said, "that made my day."
So how old was the couple? "Age toh nahin bata sakti," Daljeet said, "all I can say is that he's just two hours older than I am."

The invitees included the fellow jodis from Nach Baliye and other TV stars. Jasveer Kaur and husband, and designer Rohit Verma were also present.

For his part, Shaleen gifted Daljeet a puppy. "I wanted one for the last two years but my dad wasn't allowing me to," she said, "now I've got one finally."

They have not yet decided on a name for the critter.

The couple say they are deeply in love and Shaleen says he finds Daljeet "absolutely perfect and mind-blowing."

Daljeet was more circumspect and laughingly offered this as her reason for loving him: "I am happy about the fact that I can understand his jokes when everyone else fails to."

She says to her the word love means 'Shaleen' as she has discovered love in him. Shaleen says that love "always grows with time."

The two met earlier this year on a shoot. So when did love happen?

Shaleen fell for her at sight. Daljeet says for her it happened after they began going out. "Normally he would never call me after 10 but one day he called me at 2," she said, "luckily I had just wrapped up my shoot for Sultan. I love the coffee you get that late at night sold by cyclewallahs and so when he asked me out for that I agreed. We chatted for four hours that night..."

The couple say they have no plans for marriage now but will give it a thought when they wrap up the show.

TV stars in timepass trauma

With the television industry's strike dragging on its second week, actors have been sitting at home with nothing to do. Most of them have very hectic work lives, with long shifts and rarely getting a day off. So what have they been doing for the last 10 days with no work? We spoke to a few.

Paul Chauhan (Ragini in Bidaai): I was unwell and laid up in bed with an illness last week. This week, I'm bored! I've been used to shooting through the day and I miss my shoots terribly.
Avika Gor (Anandi of Balika Vadhu): I attended school regularly last week. My time off was spent studying and playing with friends. If the strike doesn't end this week, I'll get to do a little more of that. But I hope it does end soon. I'm missing my co-actors and the masti we do on sets.

Shaleen Bhanot (Nach Baliye and Sangam in Grihasthi): I've been doing rehearsals for Nach Baliye. We have been rehearsing for six hours every day. I also got the chance to spent quality time with (girlfriend) Daljit. We celebrated our common birthday last Saturday with our friends. But I want this thing to end and get back to real work!

Avinash Wadhawa (Vashu Rajvansh of Bidaai): I went out of town last week. Now I'm spending time in gym, watching movies which I never would have seen, and also hanging out with friends. My wife is saying she is sick of watching me at home every day. I am also bored of doing nothing, so I wish this strike ends soon. If it doesn't end this week, I'm leaving town again.

Seema Kapoor (Vasundhara Rajvansh of Bidaai): I did pending household work last week, cleaning and all that sort of thing. I also went shopping, finished reading a few books, watched movies. Basically, chilling out. Now I'm missing my shoot and want to get back to work: we've become habituated to working day and night!

It seems, just like the audience, telly stars are bored of sitting at home with no work and no shows to watch - except Bigg Boss.

Shaleen-Daljeet together again

After Nach Baliye 4, Love birds Shaleen Bhanot and Daljeet Kaur will be soon seen together in a daily serial.

The duo has been signed up for the serial, which will be shot in Lucknow, and work on it immediately after they wind up at Nach Baliye.
"We've been offered roles together so I really hope it works out," said Daljeet, "Nach Baliye has been a good excuse for us to be together and a daily soap will be just great."

The couple share a birthday and celebrated it together on November 15.

After the dance reality show Saas Vs Bahu wrapped up, Daljeet has done only Nach Baliye, but says that is deliberate: "I just want to concentrate on Nach since it's a very tough contest". Daljeet's first show was Kulvadhu (Sony) and she also did roles in Santaan and Chhoona Hai Aasman where she played a negative character.

Boyfriend Shaleen first appeared in Saat Phere (Zee) and Kulvadhu (Sony) where he had a negative role. After this, he did a cameo in Kaajal (Sony) and is currently in a full length role in Sangam (Star Plus). Of late, he's also been seen in Naagin and Grihasti.

Shaleen will soon be seen in Rang, a new series on Zee. "Rang is a romantic comedy and I am playing a very sweet character," says Shaleen, "itna sweet ki mujhe lag raha tha ki mujhe diabetes ho jayegi…" he laughs.

Daljit's request to all MySpace users!!!

Bruno, Rocky, Tommy, Pluto, Snowy, Happy... guess you know what we're talking about right? Yup, Daljit just has a puppy gifted by Shaleen and she is confused on what name should she give her pet. She wants it to be sweet, yet not the usual ones, and definitely not the one listed above. Surely, you can help her out. Give suggestions on what she should call her puppy. And who knows, you might very well be the one to guide her.

Strike Called Off

After 10 days the producers' strike has finally been called off. And all telly fans can heave a sigh of relief as the production houses will resume filming tonight itself so that fresh episodes can be aired from Monday onwards. We spoke to the vice president of the producer's association Dheeraj Kumar who heads Creative Eye a production house.

"For us the first good news is that the strike has been called off with appropriate decision. There were two worker unions involved in this issue. And now everyone have agreed over two things - job security meaning they will get insurance facilities as well as the fact that they will be under a one month contract which was not the case initially. Earlier they used to loose their jobs in 4-5 days without any notice or anything. However this will not happen after they will sign the contract," informs Dheeraj.

"Second thing is the hike issue. Now we have spoken to them about the current economical situation and they have agreed on a small rise in the percentage of hikes which will be 10 to 15 %," adds Kumar.

"The next issue was that the producers wanted a hike in their contract price from channels as well. So now an agreement has been brought about where they will first reduce their production cost ? like if one episode was taking 3 days to shoot now the production house will try to finish that episode in one and half day so that is how they themselves will not face any burden and they will not ask for more money to broadcasters also."

The shooting for all the shows will start from tomorrow (Thursday November 20, 2008) and the channels will air new episodes from Monday (November 24, 2008).
