Bye, kiddo. As you please, and not that you were there with me for the 5 weeks of Yudh either, though you could not have discovered any bete noire there!

Moreover, now, you should focus on your kid and his exams, and beyond his exams as well.

I agree, my poppet, both about Rudra's unnecessary OTT take on his predicament, and on the shadow of the admirable Siddharth that clouds one's mind all the time! Gautam, whose gentle, unworldly Saraswatichandra was a treat so long as he was not pushed into melodrama and I was forced to quit, is here being made to adopt these mannerisms that are not at all needed. Rather like a souped up version of my favourite boy's scrunched nose and bull about to charge take on anger, abandoning his understated but icy, fear-inducing rages in the early episodes.

But as for watching this show only for Maimuyi, why of course I could and would, for it is but rarely that one gets to watch such an expert at work for such a prolonged period of time. Just look at her as she watches Rudra and Maya together - her eyes are full of protective hope for her beloved bachuwa, and behind that hope is a lingering, corrosive fear of what will happen to this uncontrolled and uncontrollable boy if she is no longer there. Wonderful.

As for our other show, don't you dare say " horribler than he", which presumes that "he" too is horrible😉. I do not think you have read my longish response to you on Khushi's thread - which seems to have the gift of eternal life! - nor mine to Munni and some related posts. Take a look at them, you will enjoy them.

The best way to overcome your fear is to face it. Rudra seems to be now ready to face his fear than run away from it, his fear metamorphosing into blind protectiveness and anger.

Going to miss Siddharth a lot. In fact more than the story, it was the boy that pulled me into Mahakumbh. (Why does it happen always??😕). But thankfully Sidharth is given a neat exit and not made to look as though he hasn't slept for 10 days straight and call someone older and horribler than he- 'bachche'😡. Even Sanjeev Kumar inspite of the many older roles he donned was not made to do this. 😭

Anyway coming back to Mahakumbh, the Charles-Rudra bonding was typical filmy yet warm. The same old torn note, twin locket/ chain, etc. Good that the duo didn't pick up a 'Yaadon Ki Baarat'ish song to identify each other when they get old.😆

Sid was so deep, had an aura of mystery and aloofness and insecurity inspite of all his powers. The boy's eyes, agility and controlled expressions were a pleasure to view. All that is over.😭 . Now...😳...let us wait and see. Seeing the huge difference in the super-dive into the Ganges, I have less expectations only.😕

hats off shyamala, it's really very difficult to try to understand and reply to different ages of viewers, & above all to understand the vision of both teenage young& adult,

& all i can say that although we have all some reproof (and it's very healthy) this show is sure different, & already requires that viewers be prepared to receive it, simply coz (I am sure) that the way to tell the story like which we are used to is different here, very different from other shows, and its done intentionally from writers and the director (and Utkarsh can confirm that he's kind of person who talks cool with everyone), and this thing is the point that viewers cant understand right now, but they start to catch it slowly,
there is a debate on this show in all social media, it's imaginary but feel like common story with a normal guy we (viewers) can see in our street with his mum and a new love, but in the same time not at all easy To cutch up directely from the first epsdes with the story , it takes a lot to understand and follow the idea of writers and director and bring all parts of the story and come out with conclusion from every epsde and i think that's why it's a good show, viewers can finaly have show where they think and talk! not only stay like moron in front of idiot serial in tv.
in my mind i remeber from charles morgan who says: "the best tribute we can pay to a writer is not to remain attached reading his pages, but rather unconsciously stop reading, put the book, meditate on & see beyond its intentions with new eyes" hope someday we all stop being superficial & see beyond things

and my "beyond" of all this is to convince you to write sooon your reviews for this week 😉 really a lot are waiting for this. good day ahead

My dear Ranou,

The part @blue is very perceptive and true. I do not know how much of a new perspective on this show my posts are able to give my readers, but as for you, I am grateful for your patience and your appreciation of what is an acquired taste, ie my kind of writing.

I see that you have already seen my next post. I am sorry that I could not get it out any earlier and you had to wait for it. But my knee problems apart, the house is now inundated with teenage guests, and I am having to win guerilla battles to get at the laptop!😉

My dear Vishu,

Your very flattering comments on my writing leave me with nothing to say but thank you, thank you, thank you! They ought to have an emoticon for a deep bow, but consider that done!

What about your own prose, my dear?I have rarely seen a more telling quotation than "good prose is like a window pane". Lovely.

Do take a look at my next one, for last week, which is just up. It is more critical than any of the earlier 3, and I would like to see if you agree with me and if so, to what extent.

I am sorry that I could not get it out any earlier but my knee problems apart, the house is now inundated with teenage guests, and I am having to win guerilla battles to get at the laptop!😉

And no, Utkarsh does not write the lines. It is someone else. Yes, they are often very good

As the saying goes - 'good prose is like a window pane' and this is what your writing is, Shyamala ji. I was a fan of Arshics and OSJ write-ups since SC days and onto MK, you have won my heart.

On your post, while i agree with your analysis on Rudra's character graph and hence his present form, i feel the character portrayal was too aggressive in certain scenes for my liking. IMO, that seething violent looks, teeth gritting has been overdone. Like few others have stated in Arshics thread, i wish the character portrayal is toned down a bit. (I am curious to know, what GR thinks of this portrayal-he is usually practical, sensible with his views).

Your questions/takes are spot on (and witty). I think, Maya is crucial to the plot and is juxtaposed to Rudra's character. From the little we have seen her, i hope the actress can carry the intensity, poise required of Maya.

I am glued to MK plot and applaud the makers here - great package ! I like Utkarsh's writing (he was fabulous in SC) and Gautam Rode (an ardent admirer of him since SC days - I sat through thick and thin of SC, till its last episode).
And do you know, if Utkarsh is also writing the dialogues for MK ? Such deep thinking in those lines.

Look forward to your posts.

My dear Abhinaya,

I was all chuffed up by your lavish, and indeed extravagant praise on the previous page. Thank you so much, my dear.

Do take a look at my next one, for last week, which is just up. It is more critical than any of the earlier 3, and I would like to see if you agree with me and if so, to what extent. In detail, about all the areas I have touched on, mind!

I am sorry that I could not get it out any earlier but my knee problems apart, the house is now inundated with teenage guests, and I am having to win guerilla battles to get at the laptop!😉

Coming to the episode,as you said, there must have been lot that happened in those 12 years which have made Rudra this way. He must have become the product of the circumstances which he would have gone through during those years that were Not shown to us. So if he is gritting his teeth with anger underlining every line of his face,it must be the result of the same..And I agree Aunty,I do not understand Maya's sudden inclusion either 😕 Waiting to see how that pans out..

Gautam,I feel is doing what is required out of him.. If he is acting in a certain way,it is because he has been told to do so again I will wait to see some flashbacks or something of that kind to explain the changes that have occurred in the recent past..

Your takes on Udiya baba's funeral,Mai mui and Rudra's scenes, about Charles, the exemplary fight sequences, everything was bang on. As I said before,it is a pleasure to read your posts 😊 Thank you so much for the PM 🤗

My dear Arshi,

I am so pleased that you liked this one.

I agree with your @blue. Mahakunmbh is a work in progress, and I hope they will have some flashbacks to smoothen the transition to the adult Rudra.

Right now, I am seriousky worried about the prospect of their bumping off Maimuyi. I have touched on this in my latest post, and also tweeted Utkarsh protesting against the prospect,. not that it is going to change anything!

Shyamala,

Just read your very interesting analysis of the week gone by and all the reactions.

Well well, while the child Rudra was unanimously a fav, the adult Rudra has invoked a lot of mixed emotions.

That itself means that the the character of Rudra is difficult to interpret and understand, that the reasons behind his actions are yet to unravel!

The 12 year leap was it just a passage of time or are their events yet to be disclosed.

My dear Gargi,

I was really pleased to see not just one but three comments from you! I am glad you liked this one. And your two cents are always a candid delight!

I have mentioned Maitreyee's and your "Maya as a femme fatale" theory in my latest post, which is just up. Do take a look at it when you find the time.

It is more critical than any of the earlier 3, and I would like to see if you agree with me and if so, to what extent.

I am with you in toto re:Rudra, but I am not as gung ho as you are about Maya, alas! Shades of Jodha ?😉

I am sorry that I could not get it out any earlier but my knee problems apart, the house is now inundated with teenage guests, and I am having to win guerilla battles to get at the laptop!😉

What about your practicals, when are they due?

Also, copy pasting from another post in the forum, where I've wriitten my non-precious two cents about Rudra-ka-Rudrarup , so that I may get your precious two cents in some more detail as to what you think . 😳

As For Maya , I , again , found her beautiful n captivating n I found her interactions with GR not just ok, but HOT.

N let's say when at the end of the episode Rudra was sitting at the Ghat he wasn't fuming , with nostrils flared ,like a mad bull or any thing, was he ? No, just a normal guy, a bit sulky n brooding, other wise his turmoil was contained in his eyes only. So , we can safely see such hysteric fits of rage comes n goes in him n they come out only when he's too much afraid of losing some1 precious again n it brings back all those traumas in his childhood in a rush.
I immediately felt connection with Maya, she'll be the calm to Rudra's storm, his anchor, his light house in wavy stormy sea. She'll complete him.
Rudra is carrying lots of wounds inside, his trauma was not adequately counselled during childhood , it there fore renders him incapable of controlling his fury at times. In real life too I've seen lots of my patients who've been victim of deep childhood trauma n loss , or "battered child" , they do stuffs like that quite often. It's often because , their need for proper n scientific counselling is ignored as children show little outer manifestations of mental trauma , but nonetheless if not scooped n curetted out in time, they carry their wounds to adulthood some times with devastating reactions. Many even become easy prey to addictions. Here thank God becoz of Maimui's gentle guidance n loving tender care n calming soothing presence in his life Rudra has none of that at least.

Ela my dear,

What can I say but Thank you, thank you , thank you? There ought to be an emoticon for a deep bow to accompany that.

Charles has turned up again, as you said, but Ela, he is nothing like what I had thought he would be like, alas! I was interested to learn that the sub-inspector is a veteran actor. It was an excellent cameo. And yes, Maya gave her uncle the police chowki details, but she did not tell him about Rudra's arrest, which was why I wondered how he knew what to tell the SI.

My latest post, on the last week, is just up. Do take a look at it when you find the time.

It is more critical than any of the earlier 3, and I would like to see if you agree with me and if so, to what extent.
