I feel that it is too early to judge on the Rudra adult. Gautam entree was very strong so there received an untoward reaction ... but versa entry was terrific as the days we will see how wonderful Gautam in performing personal Rudra ... so please to wait and see ๐Ÿ˜Š

Last week was truly remarkable and so is your post ๐Ÿ˜Š
I am in complete agreement with you over Rudra's transformation from a despairing young lad to a raging young man. The last scene of the last episode summed it up - He does not care about anyone/anything, but would burn down the entire Kaashi if Maimui is harmed. His protective streak can transform him into a ball of fury in no time.

The funeral scene was my favourite too. I feel, that episode was one of the best episodes of Mahakumbh.

Aunty, I happened to watch Siddarth in the promos of Ashoka. His fight sequence in that promo gave me goosebumps. As you said in your post, this boy is surely going to go places. And we will surely miss him on Mahakumbh. IMHO, Gautam has big shoes to fill!

Though Rudra's rage seems justified at this point, I was not able to connect with the scene when Gautam walks out of the jail and delivers a menacing goodbye to the daroga. I felt Gautam's expressions were OTT in that particular scene. I liked Gautam better in the fight scene. He portrayed the no holds barred, raging Rudra exceptionally well in the fight sequence.

Thank you for the post. I read other posts and saw that many did not understand the sudden change in character of Rudra, however your analysis would hopefully bring some light. Because of the leap in time, we should expect such changes especially if someone has been keeping all his emotions under control for so long. Will look forward to further posts from you.

A simple solution to this genetic goof up would have been to fit young Siddharth out with dark contact lenses. As Gautam will have the much longer role, this would have been more convenient than fitting him out with topaz contacts.I am surprised that they did not think of this.

Exactly, my dear Adiana, as the fair, round faced Salim at 9 became this scrawny dark Salim at (supposedly) 16! Details? Perish the thought!๐Ÿ˜‰

Michaelangelo would of course have said that, for his works rarely fell short of perfection.

Thank you, my dear Kiran. I am so pleased that you agree with my take on Rudra. Now this is a tightly scripted show, and if there is such a drastic change in characterisation, there has to be some valid reason for it, so I looked around for one such. A psychologist would perhaps not have been so surprised as some here were, perhaps.

My dear Shreya,

I am happy that you liked this one so much, and also that you agree with my take on Rudra.

I wrote that whole first section, which had not really been so much on my mind to begin with, solely for yurimehta11, for she had asked me about that. And that section grew and grew to well over a page! Which is why I often say that I have, at the beginning, no idea how the post is going to shape up, and I am always relieved when it comes out reasonably well!๐Ÿ˜‰

I agree with you about Rudra's exit from the police station, but it seems to be a carryover, or residue, of the insensate rage he feels towards that man. Also, it is most often the director's vision more than that of the actor, and if he insists that it be done that way, Gautam might not have had much of a choice. As it is, he is being asked to play this Rudra very close to going berserk almost all the time. Let us see how the character shapes up.

When is Asoka actually beginning telecasts? There is nothing about it in the Sunday papers. If you know anything definite, do let me know/

As you would have seen from my post, I have no complaints at all about Gautam's opening take on Rudra. That is the writer's and the director's vision that he has to execute, and he does very well in unfamiliar territory. People should take the whole backstory into account before making up their minds! Do also see my response to Shreya above.

My dear Ranou,

I agree completely with what you have said here.

I was not at all shocked at the adult Rudra, for the reasons that I have detailed in the post; and I would have expected the viewers to take the whole backstory into account before reacting to the transformation. In a well scripted story like this one, there has to be a good reason for something so drastic as this, and this is what I have ended up explaining at such length.I hope it helps.

Yes, we will have the gaps filled in bit by bit as the story proceeds. But I am going to have withdrawal symptoms for the young Rudra!

thank you madam for your analysis we look forward every week, I wanted to say one thing is that all viewers were shocked of behavior change of Rudra, but they forgot that the accumulation of the previous years from age of 14 to adulthood, Rudra had to hide many of his feelings towards his losses, all people he loved, and especially the last loss Udiya baba, this rage is simply the result of a heavy accumulation during these years and the developement of self defense against all enemis, and I think the script wanted with intent that emotional shock among viewers and thoses emotions of hatred from viewers against the new Rudra who has completely changed over time from child emotional Rudra (we can say cute on our eyes as viewers) . But I have an intuitive feeling and a presentiment that the reason of this changement will be developed in the coming episodes gradually to attract viewers, if all is revealed from the first moment with chained manner without attracting the curiosity, so for sure that is not a good show to follow and we couldn't be there to discuss and debate these circumstances. PS: I loved the little Rudra stunning, May, udiya baba mindblowing and I am sure Gautam rode will do well coz he's an experienced actor and I expected to see the role of Maya to appreciate it.thanks again

Thank you, my dear, and I am really pleased that you agree with my take on the adult Rudra.

Yes, while I made no specific mention of her, Bishu's mother was remarkable both in her forgiving her husband (above all for abandoning her to scoot off on his guilt trip, leaving her to fend for herself) and in her quiet dignity at the cremation. A lovely little cameo. But then this show abounds in them; think the teenage Charles and the jyotishi!

Yes again, the scenes of Udiya Baba's death and his funeral were outstanding in both concept and execution, which is why they have 2 of my 6 takes on this week!

Yes one last time! We are surely going to have a lot of fun in the weeks ahead. But if they stick us with yet more torture scenes with Shivanand, I am going to e-clobber Utkarsh!๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks Shyamala. Insightful as usual. I said to Ela earlier I have mixed emotions about adult Rudra but am sure he is going to grow on me. Your explanation of his transformation made me feel better about all the rage we saw in him. Was not too impressed by Maya. In any case I am in this for the story not the actors. That the casting has been so brilliant has been gravy for me.

Easily the most powerful scenes of the week were from Udiya Baba's death. Of course Rudra and Maimuyi were brilliant! But I couldn't help marvel how effective and moving the brief introduction of his wife was. I was unabashedly crying all the while. Brilliant direction!

I am really enjoying this story unfold. Can't wait for all 7 Rakhshaks. Also the the actual event of the Mahakumbh! Boy oh Boy it's going to be a visual treat.

Thanks once again. Happy, Healthy And a Pain free New year to you!
