"..Vaishampayana said, O descendant of the Bharata lineage! When the king addressed Pandu's great-souled sons, the evil-hearted Duryodhana was extremely happy. O bull among the Bharatas! He privately summoned Purochana, grasped the adviser by the right hand and told him these words. "O Purochana! This world, with all its riches, is mine. But with me, it is also yours. You should protect it. I have no other ally who is as trustworthy. I have to consult with you. O father! 44 Keep these consultations 45 and destroy my enemies cleverly. Skilfully accomplish what I ask you to do. Dhritarashtra has sent the Pandavas to Varanavata. On Dhritarashtra's command, they will sport themselves in the festival there. Ensure that you reach Varanavata today on a cart drawn by swift asses. On reaching there, build an excellent house with four halls on the outskirts of the city" large and full of riches and near the store where weapons are kept. Use hemp, resin and other inflammable materials that can be obtained in the construction. Mix the clay with ghee, oil from seeds and a large quantity of lac and plaster the walls with this. Also place carefully in the house hemp, cane, ghee, lac, wood and wooden tools, but in such a way that the Pandavas or other men are not suspicious on scrutiny and do not deduce that the house has been constructed with inflammable materials. After constructing the house in this way, reverently pay homage to the Pandavas and get them to live there, with Kunti and her attendants. For the sons of Pandu, place beautiful conveyances, seats and beds there, so as to satisfy my father. Do it in such a way that no one in the city of Varanavata gets to know, until our time arrives. Knowing that they are asleep in their beds, completely assured and without suspecting danger from anywhere, set fire to it, beginning at the gate.."

Karna is not involved here.

yup thats what my dad told too..that karna was nt involved..he received injustice..

so i see no reason y draupadi wd reject karna except that sum hw d plot needs to be built up like sikhandi said that a woman wd b responsible 4 wiping d clan out totally

Yes, please no more discussions on Lakshagriha or Karna for that matter.
By the way, do u know Anu, that I read it once that Draupadi was probably not one woman.
Draupadi, Panchali and Yagnaseni were different daughters of Drupad, who were married off to the Pandavas. 😕
So, basically, the Draupadi who was won by Arjun, is not the same woman who was disrobed. The one that was disrobed was only Yudisthir's wife. 😕
Interesting, isn't it?

I am imagining how India and other country get a chance of independence after the world war 2 since British had become weak after war.

Similarly Karna had subjugated the whole Bharat in the favor of Duryodhan. So for them it is like freedom fight.

Vyas intelligently didn't tell how good Duryodhan was as a ruler. We can suppose Yudi is a better ruler than Dury.

No no dear...my knowledge on Mahabharat is nothing compared to some other members here...😊
I learn something or the other everyday from India Forums about Mahabharat.
Anyway, this article is one that I read once. Sorry, don't have the link.
But it was an interesting research done by a man, who says that Drupad had many daughters who married the Pandavas. One of them was won by Arjun, and another was disrobed.
However, with modifications down the ages, those women got clubbed into one, whom we call Draupadi, a woman having 5 husbands.
Or, maybe Ved Vyas did it himself, to make the story less complicated with only one heroine.
Well, there is nothing like in the epic. This is just a theory.

Wow. Great discussion going on guys. I loved reading every reply posted here. Here are my two cents.

I don't know much about how good ruler Yudhishtira was. But Duryodhana was not a bad ruler. Of course he was a nightmare to Pandavas, but he was very kind and caring towards his subjects. That is why he managed to get eleven akhauhini troups for the war, unlike what did they show in the show.

There is this incident that once severe drought affected the kingdom, which was followed by severe poverty. And Duryodhan did spend even the last penny he had to make sure that no one sleeps hungry in his kingdom. Also he managed to visit every single house to make sure that no one is worried. I don't know how much of this is true. My dad has told me this story. But he also cited the illicit means in which Duryodhana tried to satisfy his greed for the throne. He also said that the ration system for supplying daily needed food etc for everyone, organised by civil supplies department of Kerala State has loosely adopted this idea of Duryodhana. And still, Kerala is the no.1 state in all over India in case food security for past 50-60 years...

Except for his treatment towards Pandavas, Dury was a good person. I've no idea about Yudhi.
