Chapter 39

Abby crawled into the tent right after Madhu and closed the zipper behind her. "Sooo," she started, "Lets cut to the chase shall we? What's going on with the two of you."

"Yeah. I'm not sure what he wants. Sometimes it looks like he wants to say something and hardly I blink and the moment disappears." she sat on her sleeping bag and looked at Abby.

Abby raised her eyebrow while seating herself on the other sleeping bag. "Are we still beating around the same bush? Adam and I left the two of you alone so that you could talk and figure things out and what do you do with that time? Nothing!! This seriously sucks Madhu."

"Well.." Madhu started "We didn't talk much but it doesn't mean we didn't do nothing."

Abby stared at Madhu; she was stunned, shocked, excited, all at the same time. It was the first time her friend had experienced something physical with anybody and she was super excited to be discussing this stuff with her. It was always Abby discussing about her discretions with Madhu. "Oh God... Tell me everything!!!"

So Madhu started to give a thorough account of the events to Abby about how at first she was overcome with rage at Rishab for going after Deepali, not because it was Deepali per say but because she was petrified of the fact that he was at risk and something could happen to him. So they argued over silly things at first and then the silly things built up till they were full fledged fighting. How at one point she started tearing up.

"And then.." "And then what? What happened?" Abby squealed. Madhu laughed. "Relax the fun stuff is yet to come." Abby stuck her tongue out at Madhu like a 5 year old.

"Well we talked about how it was his responsibility and blah blah and how I felt watching him do what he was doing and blah blah. And how much he means to me. And then..." She paused. But this time Abby didn't show any enthusiasm because she thought Madhu was teasing her again.

Madhu smiled at Abby, knowing that she was purposely trying not to show how excited she truly was just in case it was a false alarm again. "And then one moment we found ourselves really close to each other gazing into each others eyes and the next moment he was kissing me."

Abby grinned. "How'd it feel?" How did it feel? "Incredible... like the most right thing in the world. Like every cell in my body was connected to every cell in his body. And there was this rush of heat..." She blushed. "The most amazing feeling in the world, Abby."

"And? Did he say anything about it? Did you go any further? I mean, did he get in your pants?" Abby sounded like a child having a sugar rush.

If Madhu turned pink while she blushed earlier, she turned completely crimson now. "Well... we did do some stuff around this area." She used her hand to point out her upper torso. "But didn't go all the way." She quickly clarified.

Abby looked at her with eyes wide open. "That's great, isn't it? I mean, isn't that what you want?"

"It's what I want, but it's not that simple." "Huh?" "We were interrupted by this call. That guide Kapoor had called to check up on Rishab." She said making a face.

Madhu went on to elaborate, "First it was Deepali and then this Kapoor. I know he is completely not interested in Deepali and I believe him when he says that whatever he had going on with Kapoor is over and that they are only friends now."

"But? I feel like a but coming on." "But I'm afraid that soon he will realise that I have nothing to offer. He is the master at the game and is holding all the cards, Abby."

"Uh-huh, but you have your own cards, Madhu." Madhu sat up and looked at her friend. "What cards?" "Well," Abby grinned and gestured at her friend, "your sexy body, the fact that Rishab feels threatened by any guy who shows remotely any interest in you, example Adam and Akash and you've got Adam and me, your best friends."

Madhu laughed "Score one for my sexy body 'cause he's already caved on that one. Score two for Rishab being jealous of the guys. Score three, lets not forget that no Deepali and no Kapoor for the rest of the climb."

"Yup!! That just leaves you... what're you gonna do?" "Well, I don't know. What do you think, oh wise one?"

"Um-hmm, I think you guys need to slow things down. Why don't you talk to him about taking it slow and getting to know each other first. Be friends first and lovers after. I have never been serious in any of my relationships before hence didn't find the need to be friends with any of them. But this thing you and Rishab have is different and it needs to be nurtured. You need to put in that time to get to know and understand each other. Think about it."

Madhu seemed to be thinking over what Abby said and finally after a while she nodded in agreement. "Um-hmm, Thanks for the everything." She grinned and turned the tables. "So, what's going on with you and Akash?"

Abby sighed dramatically. "I don't know. We are constantly playing this game around each other. But.." "He hasn't said anything yet", Madhu completed for Abby.

"What if he asks you out on a date when we get down?" "Umm I think I'm gonna go. I mean he's hot..." "You think?" Madhu snorted. "Every girl that comes up here - even a few guys - must want a piece of him."

"Yeah. I'm sure Adam would have called dibs if Akash didn't make a move on me first." Abby's comment left Madhu in splits. "Akash seems to be a pretty cool guy. Will see how the date goes at the time." "Bet it goes until the next morning..." Madhu teased.

"All jokes apart, why don't you take heed of your own advice and try being friends with Akash first this time around. He seems different from all the others you have dated so far. Genuine, like he will tell you as it is."

"Ok. Lets make a deal. If you follow through, I will too. What say?" Abby stretched out her hand to Madhu and Madhu shook on it.

"Think we should go outside again?", Abby asked.

Madhu sat up and unzipped the opening to glance outside. "Wouldn't you know it? The only people left out there is Adam and Rishab." Abby looked out as well. "And seems like they're getting along pretty well," she said when the guys laughed about something, looking all chummy.

"Well, isn't that just special," she muttered. "Maybe tomorrow they can climb together and me and you can work with Akash." She snickered. "Although Rishab is liable to have a coronary at the very suggestion."

Yayy!! Me first🥳..

Loved the bonding between Madhu n Abby.. Madhu is really lucky to have Abby n Adam on her side. They define true friendship. Waiting for Rishabh to join Madhu in the tent now 😳

It is nice to see Madhu having good friends who are always by her side giving her the best possible advice in dealing with new relationship in her life.
