Ghazal Rai, the bubbly and garrulous Pooja of SAB's Left Right Left, is not just a mobile freak on screen. This mania has rubbed on her even in real life, though she admits, "I am not that crazy to use mobile jargon in every sentence".

This full of beans Punjabi kudi, who made her TV debut last year with Happy Go Lucky (Star One), currently has two handsets - the high end Nokia N70 and 6230i limited edition series. "I keep changing my handset mobile every six months, for there are many new babies coming out in the market every other day, and being a gizmo freak, I must have the latest".

"I've never misplaced my cell; otherwise I would be like a fish out of water"

Keep in touch

I've stored over 500 contacts in my instrument, not just the industry people, but also my old school and college pals. Hence if I ever lose my phone, I will be out of contact with the whole word literally. Thank God, I've never misplaced my cell; otherwise I would be like a fish out of water.

Picture perfect

My new cell's resolution (3.4 mega pixel) is so precise that I don't need to carry my digi cam. I love to capture funny moments with friends and various places that I visit. It really hurts to see people misusing this wonderful technology for voyeuristic purpose. Even if the government bans the use of camera phone, a lot ultimately depends on the individual; for every invention has two sides, use or abuse!

"I am eagerly waiting for 3G (GSM) services to be rolled out in India"

Music masti

Being a serious music buff, I have transferred most of my collection from my Ipod to my cell as it get difficult and risky to carry both around when I'm shooting. The huge external memory cards (up 5 GB) are God send for people like me who also often use the video recorder as well.

Futuristic indulgence

I am eagerly waiting for 3G (GSM) services to be rolled out in India, which will allow faster data transfers, quicker downloads and above all open avenues for a mobile TV. I will be able to check out the latest show on air while on move. Being a gaming freak, this new technology will also allow me to challenge friends to a virtual dual even on the phone.

Word of caution

Before selling your phones, please delete all your contacts, smses, MMS's and video \ audio files, lest u fall into the poor Kareena-Shahid trap!

What's Ghazal Rai crazy about?

Apparently Ghazal Rai aka Pooja of SAB's Left Right Left is crazy about something. No, it's not some secret boyfriend that she has been secretly seeing. But her cell phone. The actor is apparently quite tech-savy. Ghazal has her handset for company for all the time that she spends on the sets of the serial. With so many actors on the sets, wonder how she finds time to chat on the cell as well? In fact, the curly haired girl also keeps changing her handset every six months. Well, change is after all the spice of life. What say, Ghazal?

Left Right Left to complete 125 episodes

Sony Sab's Left Right Left, a serial based on a military academy, is soon completing their 125th episode and news is that the show will take a season break during the World Cup.

Some of the show's actors are expecting a celebration, others are oblivious. Dr Ritu, Shveta Salve said, "Completing 125 episodes in any show is a good feeling. It is a kind of milestone of your success."

The 125th episode is packed with excitement. The captain Rajveer (Rajeev Khandelwal) discovers the identity of a spy at the military academy.

Priyanka Bassi (Naina) said, "We will be celebrating Dr Ritu and Rajveer's engagement in the 125th episode. I don't know anything about off-screen celebrations. There will be high drama in the episode. You will come to know whether this engagement will or will not happen. It was a journey and kind of learning experience for me. We will be taking a season break in March. We will come back as a fully charged team. This break is necessary so we can come back with more energy."

Rajeev Khandelwal said, "I don't think there will any kind of celebration. I don't even know which is the 125th episode. However it is nice for a serial on such a different subject which comes on such a small channel to complete 125 episodes."

"Yes, we will be taking leaps but not like the typical saas-bahu soaps, where gray hairs are added. There will be a leap story wise. The story has to go further and the change in my character. There will not be any new entry in the show."

Soon Rajeev is debuting in Bollywood with a DJ's romantic thriller. Rajeev said, "I have been associated with love for so many years that my first film had to be a romance. Since I share such a good rapport with the DJ's, I would like to do films with them."

Deeya (DJ's creative) said, "Yes we'll be going out with the cast and crew. All the cast, crew and team of the channel will go out of Mumbai. We have not decided on the place yet. There will be change in the story as we are taking season break for World Cup. In the next season there will be more youth and energy. Some new teachers will join the show. However, the old characters will remain in the serial as they have become icons. There will be more interesting and exciting characters in season two."

C aptain Rajveer (Rajeev Khandelwal) of Left Right Left has finally solved the mys- tery about the identity of the spy who has infiltrated the Acade- my. It is none other than Dr Ritu Mishra aka Shveta Salve. On her first nega- tive role, she says, "The best part about being an actor is that one can fit in to a vari- ety of characters. Being a negative char- acter is just another facet of acting."

    Rajiv Khandelwal

I had to change my cellphone number when it was put up on the Net and I started to receive several calls from my women fans. But I know it's not me that the women have fallen in love with, but the image that I portray on the screen. There are times when while performing women come up to me and say 'Rajiv I want to kiss you' or 'Rajiv I want to hug you'. If it's a peck then I do not mind. But I abstain from anything else though; ultimately the loss is mine. However, I never found them cheap. I love their adulation and women are very transparent. So I never had any real problems with them.

Revamps and season breaks are not alien to shows on Lo Kal Lo Baat and Sab TV. Not long ago were Twinkle Beautysupposedtak- Parlour en off air for a break. This time, few shows and sitcoms that are aired in prime time will wind up for a month and a half during the cricket World Cup 2007. Priya Mishra, programming head of Sab TV, confirms the buzz, "Yes, the new sitcoms (Yes Boss, FIR) and shows (Left Right Left, Mohalla Mohabbat Wala) will take a break. It's a seasonal break for the simple reason that the World Cup will begin shortly." Are the shows being revamped? "Since we have the time, we are certainly going to make all efforts to revamp and make the shows look fresh. There will be many new things to look forward to," she remarks. Deeya and Tony Singh's Left Right Left is a channel driver. Tony, the producer of the show, is happy with this development, "It's great news. The actors get a break and second, we get time to prepare a bank of episodes. And when we return, it's going to be with a new look." Priyanka Bassi, who acts as Naina, says, "I am very happy that we are getting a break for nearly two months. We desperately need it."

    Shveta wants a role!

    Shveta Salve

You've seen the sober side to Shveta Salve, so here's the actress getting downright sassy and sexy in swimwear.

With this picture, it is obvious Shveta is sending out signals to B-Town biggies to offer her a meaty role in films.

We're guessing Sanjay Leela Bhansali has not kept his promise of working with the actress (after Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa), eh?

    SAB shuts shop!
    By: Shaheen Parkar
    February 21, 2007

Here's a peculiar scenario. For nearly two months, SAB channel will cease to function as it is pulling all its shows off air.

On the hitlist are shows like Yes Boss, Mohalla Mohabbat Wallah, FIR and Left Right Left.

The producers of these soaps have been told to take, as they say in telly jargon, a season's break. Some of the shows may be back for a second innings post the hiatus.

The channel has taken this step thanks to the World Cup Cricket series in West Indies through March and April.

SAB will turn into a cricket-only channel during this period and will relay all the World Cup action in Hindi, while MAX will air the English version.

    Time to kill

So what will do the SAB folks and the production houses do during this period? Take off for a holiday?

Or sit back and watch the matches round-the-clock? "We will spend time thinking of new concepts.

As it is, the daily television grind does not provide much time to think. There are many things that we want to do but have no time.

Now is the right time to do all that," points out Priya Mishra, programming head, SAB.

    High points

(clockwise from left to right) Stills from Left Right Left, Yes Boss, Mohalla Mohabbat Wallah and FIR

The affected producers include Deeya and Tony Singh (Left Right Left), Adhikari Brothers (Yes Boss), Tigmanshu Dhulia (Mohalla Mohabbat Wallah) and Sanjay and Benaifer Kohli (FIR).

Mishra claims that producers have agreed to pull off their shows during the period. "They will have high points and end their serials.

This break will also provide the producers with time to put on their thinking caps and come up with fresh, innovative concepts," adds Mishra.

Post the World Cup, SAB also has on offer two new shows, Anurag Basu's Love Story and another show from Sanjay and Benaifer Kohli.
