Rupali wants a Valentine kiss! Any takers?

What memories of Valentine's Day do our TV actors cherish? BT finds out

GITA HARI

It is believed that it was on February 14 that St Valentine, who was in favour of uniting lovers in marital bonds, was executed by the king. And hence it is observed as Valentine's Day by the lovers all over the world. On this day, they meet, gift each other and make it memorable. But Valentine's Day has also come to mean not just romantically inclined relationships but even those who are close like parents, siblings or just best friends.
Mrinal Kulkarni can never miss a single Valentine's Day because it was on this day, that her husband had proposed a few years back. Her eyes light up as she reminisces the day, "I was in college and everyone from my group of friends knew that he was going to propose except me. My friends put up this attitude of 'Aaj kuch honewalla hai' and it was on Valentine's Day that he proposed to me, which I can never forget! After that for every V Day, he gifts me a ring."
This couple sure can be voted the most romantic. Poonam Joshi who is single says, "Valentine's Day is a special day and since I have always been by myself, I make it a point to go out for dinner with my group of friends. Once it so happened that we got stuck without a decent place to dine as all the restaurants we frequent were packed and we had to wait for nearly three hours before we could get a table." Sandhya Shetty, Kareena Modi of Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, has a really funny experience to relate, "On one of my dates on Valentine's Day, I had taken flowers and gifts but to my dismay I found that my boyfriend did not get anything for me and I had to literally tell him to go get me some flowers. Of course, he was embarrassed and apologised." She says even her niece presents her with special greeting cards and chocolates. This one should be an eye opener for all you guys who go empty handed on a Valentine's Day date! When coaxed about how Rahil spent his Valentine's Days, with Kashmera Shah or Ashka Goradia, with whom he is rumoured to have had affairs, Rahil steers clear of the topic and says, "My mom has always been my Valentine. Now that I
am far away from her, she SMSes me," says the hunk who is a momma's boy in toto.
Shveta Salve hopes that at least this year her boyfriend Rodney is here to spend the day with her as she says ruefully, "For the past three years, we have been away from each other on Valentine's Day. This year, I have already got his gift in advance — it's a cute little pup." One person who regrets not having someone in her life is Rupali Ganguly, whose mother is on a groomhunting spree and according to Rupali, "I have been waiting for so long to celebrate Valentine's Day. I would love to be wined, dined and even given a kiss, but unfortunately there's no one." We are sure there will be a queue of prospective Valentines after reading this!
Ayub Khan reminisces about the earlier days of his career, "In those days, our purse strings were tight. Once on V Day, when Niharika was pregnant, we hung out on Marine Drive but they were nonetheless special days for us."

What's Ghazal Rai crazy about?

Apparently Ghazal Rai aka Pooja of SAB's Left Right Left is crazy about something. No, it's not some secret boyfriend that she has been secretly seeing. But her cell phone. The actor is apparently quite tech-savy. Ghazal has her handset for company for all the time that she spends on the sets of the serial. With so many actors on the sets, wonder how she finds time to chat on the cell as well? In fact, the curly haired girl also keeps changing her handset every six months. Well, change is after all the spice of life. What say, Ghazal?

Rajeev Khandelwal and Aamna Sharif breaking up is old news, but the latest news doing the rounds is that he has fallen for his Left Right Left co-star Priyanka Bassi. Apparently Rajeev hit it off with her from day one and soon realised he was attracted to her. Real life seems to be aping reel life here because in the serial too Rajeev gradually realises he is in love with her. So where does this leave Vikas Manakatla. In reel life Priyanka has taken an immense dislike to him. Wonder what the scene is in real life because it was alleged that earlier these two used to be quite fond of each other.

A Valentine wedding?

I wouldn't want to
get married on Valentine's Day, as it would be a complete waste!

Instead, I would choose a date closer to V-day so that I have more than just one day to celebrate.

Rakshanda Khan

Rakshanda Khan

I wouldn't really wait for Valentine's Day.

I think the day I get married to my man will be the most special day of my life.

Why wait till February 14 to do that?

Shveta Salve

I have no problems with others getting married on Valentine's Day as I think it's a great day to tie the knot.

But personally, I wouldn't wait for a specific day to come to get married.

I would love to get married on V-day. I think the idea is quite romantic!

Well, it is the day of love, so I would definitely love to settle down with that special someone on Valentine's Day.

Eijaz Khan

I think we should ban Valentine's Day.

We don't need phirangs to tell us which day to profess love to one another.

I find that Archie's Teddy Bear the most annoying thing in the world!

Rupali Ganguly

I really don't believe in Valentine's Day.

It's just another day and marriage can happen any time of the year!

Shveta spies on Left Right Left!

We have seen Shveta Salve playing the lissome psychiatrist on Left Right Left and now she's all set to play a negative character for the first time on the show. The show goes for a track change with Captain Rajveer ( Rajeev

Shveta: From sugar sweet to turning sour!

Khandelwal) looking out for the spy, the search for whom has been on since the past three months now.
This would be Shveta Salve's first act in a negative role and the actor seems to be quite comfortable doing it. She says, "The best part about being an actor is that one can fit in to a variety of characters. I have always craved to do a range of roles. Being able to play a negative character is just another facet of acting. It's both challenging and exciting."
The show's ongoing track has Captain Rajveer on a secret mission to the academy to uncover the identity of the spy. There have been suspects that were under the scanner and eventually the identity of the spy is revealed (who turns out to be Shveta Salve).
With the show going for a season break soon and the psychiatrist in the show going negative, do we see the show going far from the Right track?

Aamna-Rajeev to be together this valentine!

Are Rajeev Khandelwal and Aamna Shariff a couple? The more they deny their affair as friendship, the fans get more curious about their status. A little birdie told us that on Valentine's day, the hot couple will be talking to their fans together on Star News; in the afternoon show Saas Bahu aur Saazish.

The show has specially organized this for their die hard fans. And this is not the first time that they're being seen together as a couple on this show. Now, we wonder when both continue to deny their love for each other, why would they decide to make an appearance on this special lovers day. Looks like the couple wants to continue to cash on their popularity as Sujal and Kashish. Co-incidently, the super duper hit show, Kahiin Toh Hoga is going off air on 19th and perhaps this would be their last effort to re-inforce their fan following.

Meanwhile, we wish the hot couple a happy valentine's day!

Valentine's Day is a day of and for lovers - an occasion when affection, love, care, fondness….is openly exhibited. But what about those individuals who harbour reverse feelings for someone, who just can't get along with each other?

Let's have look at those television celebs who simply aren't eligible to go on a date on V-Day!

Shweta Tiwari - Ronit Roy:

This hit on screen jodi, in spite of being associated with each other since donkey's years for Kasautii…., have mostly made news for their squabbles off screen. Shweta and Ronit have locked horns on many an issues. For instance, during a holi scene Roy stuffed her mouth and ears with gulal and a vexed Shweta pushed him. There have also been times when she was made to wait for hours till Ronit rehearsed. And so all the credit goes to their acting skills due to which this duo can conceal their real life not-so-happening chemistry.

Rajeev Khandelwal - Ekta Kapoor

He was the best thing to have happened to Balaji Telefilms almost three years back. And the effect was vice-versa. Overnight Rajeev became a sensation and his show Kahin To Hoga enjoyed a good spell at the TRPs. But then, started the constant clashes due to his interference with the script, especially the way his character was shaping up. But Ekta being Ekta, did not budge and showed Rajeev the door. Result: Casualty to his stardom and the show's ratings! Now with Rajeev trying to get into her camp by giving statements, "I don't mind working with Ekta", you never know if his status of being Ekta's blue-eyed-boy will be retrieved.

Eijaz Khan - Sanjeeda

Known for his reserved temperament, Eijaz shared cold vibes with his co-actor Sanjeeda during the days of Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka. He's even stormed out of the sets when Sanjeeda got officious during his rehearsals. In fact, Khan went on record to quote, "I wouldn't like to comment on unimportant people and unimportant issues." But now as the only link (Nimmo) that bonded them is no longer in being, Eijaz and Sanjeeda are breathing easy.

Aamna Shariff - Gurpreet Singh

Imagine being accused of ruining someone's career! Yes, gossip mills have been churning tales that Gurpreet (Sujal - Part 2 of Kahin To Hoga) impeached his co-star Aamna with this blame. On the other hand, insiders believe that Aamna couldn't stand him for replacing Rajeev (her original Sujal). So fireworks were bound to happen. But now as its curtains for this long running show, we doubt if we'll ever get to see this pairing on screen again!

Bobby Darling - Salil Ankola

Now this is a casting coup of sorts. If one has been following Sony's Bigg Boss, it can be recalled how Bobby was snubbed by the handsome Ankola for his gender. Not only was this 'woman trapped in the man's body' royally ignored by Salil, Bobby was also hurled with sarcastic remarks! And what happened next was the very obvious melodrama by Bobby which didn't last long as Salil soon had to leave BB due to his contractual commitments. One wonders, if his stay had been prolonged, this friction would have definitely set the BB's house on fire!

Catch Captain Rajveer crack the code tonight!

The serial Left Right Left portrays the pre-NDA Academy set-up that lays the foundation of truth, honesty and solidarity amongst the cadets and prepares these youngsters to dawn the responsibility of future armed forces. Words like betrayal, deception and treason are forbidden at the Kanchenjunga Military Academy. But when a spy enters the academy in disguise, things are pretty different. He wins the trust of all and then betrays them, thus betraying his motherland. Speaking about his role in this serial, protagonist, Rajeev Khandelwal states, "This is very different from the romantic roles I've played earlier. Though I come from an army background, I've done my fair share of homework. It helps me deliver better on the sets and gives my character that extra edge."
Going by the storyline, Captain Rajveer visits KMA on a secret mission to uncover the identity of the spy. Suspects like Huda, Naina and Ali are under the scanner. Suddenly, Colonel Shakti Chandra pays a surprise visit to the academy. Satisfied with the security measures adapted by Captain Rajveer, he leaves for the Head Office. Later Capt. Rajveer receives a phone call from the Col. Shakti Chandra about the activity that has been spotted in the nuclear trigger room. Meanwhile Rajveer has also misplaced the swipe card that will lead him to the trigger room, or the spy may have stolen it!
Discussing the concept of the show, producer-director, Tony and Deeya Singh quote, "The uniqueness of the show is — it depicts real life situations faced in the pre-NDA Academy. Spies and agents are bound to find their way through in a place where national security is topmost priority. But the determination to fight such anti social elements like these only gives a boost to the patriotic feeling. We wanted to portray a similar situation in reel life."
Priya Mishra, Programming Head, SAB, shares, "Left Right Left has always had a storyline with a lot of twists and turns and had managed to capture the interest of the audience for the same reasons. The suspense built around the plot to uncover the spy will get the audience thinking. Rather, the excitement only soars as we come closer towards solving the mystery of the spy."
Aired on Mondays, catch the spy being revealed today on Left Right Left at 9.30 pm on SAB.

WHO IS IT? Is it Priyanka Bassi or Shveta Salve, wonders Rajeev Khandelwal

V-day, celeb style

Celebrities too shy away from attaching the Valentine tag to their celebrations. But it may not have anything to do with the Sena wrath. Some just do not like to be seen as someone who believes in Valentine's Day celebrations, while few others want to keep the identity of their dates under wraps.

Heartthrob of the millions, TV actor Rajeev Khandelwal, currently seen as Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat in Left Right Left, will have no dearth of admirers but he does not have anyone special to romance with. "Honestly I am not a very V-day kind of guy. Even when I was dating someone (won't disclose name) I did not do anything overtly special, except for giving her flowers. But I have no issues with others celebrating the day. For me, it's like any other day. Rajeev will spend the day replying to his fan mails.

His co star Arjun Bijlani (Alekh in Left Right Left) said he would be working and later take his mother out for dinner; hard to believe on the last one. He has no dearth of female fans gunning for him though. "They write sweet messages to me. And I am really touched by their words. But I do not have any specific plan for the V-day, as I am not seeing anyone," he replies shyly.
