Comedian Kunal Kamra has criticised YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia over his recent remarks on the India’s Got Latent controversy, accusing him of benefiting from the situation and misrepresenting its impact.

The reaction came after Ranveer shared a detailed note on X, reflecting on the fallout of the controversy. He wrote, “It took my team and me 10 years to build BeerBiceps and The Ranveer Show to where they were.” Referring to the incident, he added, “And in one incident, a large part of it was shaken. When the team looked to me for next steps, I found myself going back to Sant Kabir’s doha: ????-???? ?? ???, ???? ?? ??? ???, ???? ????? ?? ????, ??? ?? ?? ???? A simple reminder that growth takes time, and so does rebuilding.”

Responding to this, Kamra posted a sharp critique on social media. “30+ artists, including me, were summoned by authorities for being on Latent. The whole comedy fraternity took a hit because of how stupid you are. Shows were cancelled, venues pulled out, judgements made, and the pathetic shadow of your stupidity still continues to make the lives of comedians difficult. You didn’t even care to understand that side,” he wrote.

Kamra further questioned Ranveer’s public image, stating, “Stop pretending to be the nice guy you’re not. Take your cheques, lower your gaze, and be very ashamed. You’re a contraceptive for creativity, stop milking this and go back to what you do best, which is being a hurdle for upward social change while fraudcasting and clout chasing…”

The controversy traces back to a 2025 episode of India’s Got Latent, where Ranveer posed a question that drew widespread criticism. “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?” he had asked a contestant during the show.

The remark, though laughed off by others on the panel, led to strong backlash online and resulted in multiple FIRs against Ranveer and the show’s makers. The matter escalated further when the National Commission for Women intervened, following which Ranveer submitted a written apology.
