About how much we are affected by what we see and we rarely dig deep to see whether that person deserves censure/sympathy. Dev has been quite selfless in a lot of ways in so far as his family is concerned. To the extent that he destroyed his own life in the process. He was the only one managing the company for all practical purposes and its obvious he adores Golu and loves Soha. Yet at this point, Vicky and mami have created this illusion of being there for Dev and handling his business and home for all these years. While the truth is that they leached off Dev and screwed his life and he finally had enough of it, what is being perceived is the exact opposite.

Reality- Vicky was freeloading and destroyed Dev's life and Dev finally lost it
Perception- Vicky made mistakes. Big deal. He is trying to change himself but Dev is being a bully and abusing the reformed Mahatma Gandhi

Reality- He never cared for the kids and tried his best to get rid of Soha. Used Golu to get Dev's property while Dev loves Golu and Soha selflessly
Perception- Aww Vicky is amazing. He loves the kids and spends time with them. Bigcha/papa is a bully who cant see it and he needs to bow down to amazing Vicky😆

Reality- Dev did mistakes and screwed his own life. Half was instigated by mami and half was a result of his mom's emotional blackmailing and his blind love for his mom coupled with his impulsive nature. RR and Vicky took full advantage and enjoyed life to the fullest
Perception. Dev did mistakes. Vicky also did mistakes. Big deal. Dev is forgiven and he is super happy (😆) while poor Vicky is being tortured cos Dev gets his way and no one stands up to him.

Reality- Dev always managed the company. Even when he was depressed, he had an eye on it and made sure it was running on profits. Vicky got into the company using his mom and Ishwari, used company funds for his own personal needs, sold the office space without Dev's consent, was involved in tax scams, stole the software etc. etc.
Perception- Dev was depressed and ignored his life and family and company for 7 years while Vicky efficiently managed it all.

Point is you can be good and do all the good in the world yet if you are short tempered and suck at perception management, you'l always be screwed in life. But you can suck, plot and plan yet if you know how to create the right impression, half the battle is won. I saw that back in the day with Sona and Ishwari. Sona was always the quiet one who selflessly cared for Dev yet it was Ishwari who got most of the credit cos she knew what to say and what tantrum to throw to get Dev to dance to her tunes. Bijoy is similar in the sense that he has the best of intentions yet he ends up saying the wrong stuff at times or impulsively does something so ppl just don notice his good intentions. History is repeating with Dev and Vicky now and its not surprising that everyone is feeling sorry for Vicky and forcing Dev to give in😆 Though I really do hate the fact that the writers glorify the perceived good rather than the actual good in characters and validate every wrong action out there in the name of love.

Absolutely right perception management is an art and Vicky has done that really well, as for Dev even though his intentions are always right the ways turn out to be wrong due to his impulsive nature thus giving a perception that he is always wrong, I don't know how the CVs are glorifying wrong actions, absolutely ridiculous.

Conversely I used to think that Dev and Sonakshi were like Darcy and Elizabeth from the same book. But seeing them now, it feels they are more like Jane and Bingley who are too good and soft spoken at heart.

For those of you who haven't read Pride and Prejudice, and want, for some reason, to retain the suspense 200 years later...

SPOILER ALERT
Aw, I wouldn't write our leads off as Jane and Bingley. I think the comparison to Darcy-Elizabeth still works because Darcy took a long time to come around to Wickham's irreparable delinquency. He didn't disinherit him from the fortune his father had left Wickham until the latter did wrong by Georgiana and even then didn't breathe a negative word about Wickham even when he could see him growing closer to Lizzy. He only confessed the truth to Lizzy in the heat of the moment when she accused him after rejecting his proposal and his pride was hurt.

Finally, it was only when Wickham really crossed the line with Lydia, and threatened to ruin an entire family's reputation, that Darcy stepped up and made him responsible for his deeds. He even regrets not having revealed his true nature sooner so Lydia could be saved. Even after he does all that, he doesn't ask for any recognition, and people like Lydia and Mrs. Bennet are thrilled with the marriage and totally oblivious to the kind of man Wickham is. As the book says, Darcy never allows Wickham to visit Pemberly but Lydia does visit, and Lizzy often lends her money. If you ask me, the shoe still fits. 😆

In both cases, as many of you have rightly identified, it's a case if image management. Wickham is a very pleasang man to be around, always joking and easy with whomever he is talking to. Darcy is a much more difficult man to get along with -- he's sociall awkward and can be cold and condescending. So even though he has the superior character by far, it takes Lizzy the better part of the book to understand the difference -- partly thanks to Darcy's own realisations and transformations over the course of their aquaintance.

Dev is at a very similar crossroads. For him, Soha was the breaking point that Lydia was for Darcy. Like he told Ishwari, he has learned pyar nibhana from his daughter's arrival, and I think that is because he realises that she is a completely innocent life that depends on him and Sona completely for safety and protection, both physically and emotionally. When he married Sona, he assumed certain things that led him to believe she would be able to take care of herself -- he didn't realise that Mami and Vicky would affect her differently because she came from such a different background. Ideally, they should have treated their love like they are treating Soha now, something delicate and innocent, susceptible to attack and manipulation and in need of protection -- pyar nibhana.

I think what this will eventually lead up to is a realisation for Dev that his impulsiveness in anger is weakness that people take advantage of. I agree with DQ that Ishwari chose the worst possible instacnce of this (given that Dev's anger against Vicky is totally justified), but she had a point. Don't let these moments where you lose control erase all of the hard work you do and dictate how people think of you. All these years, I supported your intentions and didn't call you out on how they were expressed, but I am doing that now, because your relationship with your daughter is at stake. I don't think either Ishwari or Sona is saying his anger is wrong, but he has to learn how to stop allowing it to harm him, and through it, giving others a reason to point fingers at him.

It again comes down to Dev and Sona's complementary traits. He is all about the bigger picture and loses people when he ignores the details. Sona is all about the details and often track of the bigger picture. For him, the job has to get done but for her, how the job gets done matters. That is why they didn't resolve the issues of their previous fight -- they are carrying over into this plotline. Dev can be his own worst enemy, and in those times, Sona needs to be his friend. Yesterday showed so clearly that she doesn't need to support his actions to show solidarity with him in his time of need. She just needs to be there, and I am so happy that she is.

Hello everyone !!
Great discussions on some really ambigious episodes.Well,I'm not here to analyse anything today coz I think that every detail has already been dissected quite well by the other members of this thread.

I generally don't lose my cool while watching an episode but yesterday's episode just made my blood boil.I virtually had tears in my eyes watching the kind of treatment meted out to Dev yesterday. It was just infuriating to watch.

I genuinely hope that the writers will show Dev standing his ground and not succumbing to the demands of his "so called family" which has more sympathy for a sinner like Vickey and absolutely nothing for him.

I dread this possibility but if the writers show Dev apologising to Vickey then that would be the last time I would be watching the show.

The writers have already justified quite a few wrong things in the show and if the above mentioned possibility comes true then they will touch a new low.

Like so many of you (almost everyone) my anger and blood pressure went to the roof after watching Thursday, 08/03 Episode-374. I was really unable to concentrate on finding anything good/positive and refuse to go back and watch Dev reasoning his actions to undeserving people.

It is beyond my comprehension, understanding and acceptance on how everyone is behaving with Dev in favor of the snake, Vicky. Vicky is a worthless, poisonous snake that has only spit venom all his life in destroying Dev and can never (that's right NEVER) be redeemed, at least in my eyes.

Dev will be better off alone than fighting for the unworthy family who can never understand level of unconditional love and commitment the man has for his loved ones. I really do not want to think or write anything more except, I will be so disappointed and hurt if Dev gives in to anyone in this matter, including Soha.

Thanks.

Well I am almost sure that Dev will give into Soha's demands, firstly because Soha called him a bad father in front of Vicky & on top of that Ishwari also said that he was wrong and we all know how much he loves both of them. If we try to understand Dev's POV he was away from his daughter for seven years and even though he is not the only one at fault for that still he is very guilty. He is trying to give her all the love of those years but right now when Soha tells him of being a bad father it is obvious that to change her opinion he would definitely give into her demands, remember the time when Ishwari emotionally manipulated him and made him feel guilty for calling Asha as Maa and then he started calling her Aunty. Same is going to happen this time as well

Astrix and sp... if I may. I don't think the show is going off track at all. I will say I am on the phone and have caught up on the thread in a very patchy manner and I am so loved up after last night that I might be making assumptions here.

Dev is a master perception manager. His greatest strength in fact. He used to do so much backstage that ishwari had no clue how little control she in fact has. It's only with the arrival of sona that the perception management suffered because she helped his real person gain confidence. That perception management was thrown out of the window at the bu2. It was because if his excellent perception management skills that the Trixits had fooled themselves into thinking all is well in their world. Ishwari, post bu2, was the only person who was not mollycoddled into believing that she pulls the strings.

It's Vicky who is a complete idiot and has no skills even to steal. Even if sona was to never return, at some point in his life dev might have met a woman who he liked and who produced babies. If they had such little confidence in Dev's love for Golu, Vicky should have been more clever about syfoning off the wealth. Buy jewels, make a property portfolio. Small theft. Because dev would have over looked it. Vicky wanted what dev had (And mamaji wanted a dev!) . Without any soft skills. Let alone the conviction or hard work.

So the show is not glorifying any of it. Yesterday ishwari did not call him out for doing anything to Vicky. She called him out for doing it in front of Soha.

I think this is slapgate lite. It allows us (And sona) to see how Dev's implusiveness is not the be all, end all. However, it can undo a lot of his hard work. Dev has anger management issues and I would say it's time they are dealt with. No one is actually excusing Vicky except mami and Elena ofcourse.. kids are innocent and all soha said was chachu was playing with me. Why are you hitting him? Don't you trust me?

And I agree. Dev is the adult here. I want him to send Suhana this clear message that sometimes you might not agree with me. But as of now I am in charge. I have reasons to believe this is not safe for you. Do as told.

In fact as much as I don't agree with aggression in front of the kids... Vicky is a real threat and soha needs to be explained this in no uncertain terms.

Thanks @sp12. That is my fear too and I guess I will understand Dev's POV as well. But at present, after yesterday's episode, my heart just bleeds for our Dear Dev Dixit because no one understands him. Though I am glad to see Sonakshi by his side.

SP12, I am kind of torn on this one. I am not sure Dev will give in. More than that Vickky will not come back right now. Maami's greed was smaller compared to Vickky's greed. All she wanted was to live in IN and a share of Dev's wealth. But what he wants now after everything happened is to own both IN and Dev's property and in a way replace Dev. His stakes are much higher. And the higher the stakes, the bigger the game. Even if Dev says you can come back home, there is high probability that Vickky will pretend that he realizes his mistakes and hence doesn't want to come back till he has proven himself. Because he knows that the whole family is on alert and will be watching his every move. And he will have to show true remorse if he comes back to IN now. He will have no other choice with all the eyes on him. But by staying outside, he can play his cards very well. He can continue to act remorseful rather than truly feeling it. He can continue to be the "good guy" that he has shown himself to be and kind of keep that negative image on Dev continue. Keep that perception that what he did didn't deserve the punishment given to him by Dev. That Dev should have given him another chance.

We need the story to unfold to know what Vickky's plans really are. And my guess is it will be a big one that will shake not just maami's, but Ishwari's core beliefs too. That is when maami will finally open her eyes to the true face of who Vickky really is and what she has done.

Sam, I truly wish that Dev and Sonakshi remain as Elizabeth and Darcy and not become Jane and Bingley. Or maybe Dev becomes combination of Bingley and Darcy, while Sonakshi is both Jane and Elizabeth. Well one can dream right. . And everything about Lydia and Wickham having no entry to Pemberly come true.
The only person I feel bad in the Tripati lot is Golu. He is still at an age where with right guidance can be changed. But for that he needs to know some part of the truth and have to be given the understanding of right and wrong. And teach him to make the right choices. And I really wish that Golu has a chance. 😊

@DQ agree 100 % with you on @RedBOLD.

@Last2Paras: Hopefully Dev does just that with Soha and not give in to her demand in bringing Vicky back in to IN (per spoilers).

Thanks.
