But am trying to figure out how it will be an "equal relationship" if Sonakshi doesn't realize her flaws and faults and admit them both to herself and others. I also don't feel that there is anything left for Dev to prove, I mean prove himself. I don't think there is any need for that. He doesn't need to put any effort towards convincing Bijoy too. The ball is in Sonakshi's court. If there is any future for Dev and Sonakshi and for them to be together, it should be from Sonakshi. She needs to be honest and speak up in front of Bijoy.

Only then there will be an equal partnership relationship between Dev and Sonakshi.

Hi I am new to this forum ,actually a silent reader sorry to budge in but this is just my POV not to hurt anyone.
Let explain my point with my example ...when I was in my school I was very obedient ,very calm...far more than a normal child of that age ...but in my heart I wanted to be naughty, wanted to make fun ,just wanted to sit in back bench and silently pass comments on my dear teachers but I never couldn't do that...the reason is myself not being true ...but was it my fault not really because of the pressure and circumstances I changed myself one example : I have a elder brother studying in the same school when I was in grade 8th principal called me for head girl selection after a few rounds of questions I was asked to meet a senior teacher the first thing she said after the interview was " I hope you are not as naughty as ur brother" this what I feared that is reason I stayed calm I know my family doesn't take naughtiness or some fun as any offense but take it in a light her way and would say if not now when will you fun but I myself created the boundaries I myself put into limitations rnot expressing my desires I crushed myself in order to reach the unkept & unasked expectations... ( it may not be valid for others but it was more than important for me because I wanted to reach and be a dotting daughter which really nobody expected for me),
Similarly sona never was herself though she had a caring and loving family .she created boundaries for her ,she wanted to be flawed but was not ready to see the unexpectance even in the eyes of her dad probably bijoy would never compel sona to be a doting daughter because he had accepted all the flaws of his son so why not sona even she knows it but she had boundried herself ...she became conservative for no one but herself in this process she crushed herself. Yesterday in some post they said why can't sona express her fears openly ,express her fears and flaws will not reduce her respect in dev ' s eyes...ya she expressed her fears to him when they were truly in love ...she expressed the fear of losing him ...she argued with him openly ,discussed her opinion small or big with him ...because she wanted to be flawed with Dev as Dev never expected anything from her( even in her imagination ...that is like as she kept unnecessarily expectations of the family which she didn't wanted or never kept with Dev ) so she always was flawed and imperfect for Dev till his family had come into picture coming of family into picture she now wanted to be doting dil where she tried hard crushing herself in this mere the one who got was herself due to her irrational thoughts of expectancy from family ...coming to 24 th may episode sona expressed her fear and immediately said no not so much she did not completely deny her fear but was not expressing as freely due to the benam ristha or bitter past ...the day she again trust herself she will be again flawed sona only for Dev due to his love ...even Dev in this mere process trying to uncurl that only from sona that side of sona is only known to Dev not even her family members as in yesterday's epi when they played hide and seek DRV kept close to him knowing her fears and she knowing her fear of dark also suggested to play h&s covering herself in front of family ...Dev is the only one who can bring her out of her shell and she can be herself only with him
Sorry for the long rant I hope I made some sense

The way Bijoy sees Dev that Dev is someone who first gains a person's trust by showing goodness, and then hurts them. In the car too that is what he tells Asha, that Dev is trying to fool his daughter.

The jhoola example is the perfect example. This is just a spinoff from today's episode. In today's episode, it is Sonakshi who suggested that they hide in the garden and hurting herself was an accident. Something that Dev could no way prevent it. Here imagine that Bijoy was close by when Sona got hurt, was about to scream and Dev closed her mouth. Bijoy would definitely have held Dev responsible for Sonakshi's hurt. He would have questioned him and said that it was Dev's plan all along. He would also say since Dev was close by why didn't he prevent Sonakshi from getting hurt. But is Dev really responsible for Sonakshi's hurt. Was it possible for Dev to prevent it. I don't think so. In this case the only person who can end this misunderstanding is Sonakshi. By admitting that coming to the garden was her idea and she did not notice the jhoola there. But is Sonakshi going to say something like this in front of Bijoy and protect Dev. Hmm. I have not seen Sonakshi do that. Cause saying the above is accepting a mistake, of being less than perfect and also the above answer is not perfect.

As much as Dev needed to be the bridge between Ishwari and Sonakshi, Sona needed to be the bridge between Dev and Bijoy. This is something that she has not realized yet. Unless she realizes this and corrects Bijoy's misconceptions, nothing that Dev will do will be of real help. Sonakshi has to face herself if there is to be any future for Devakshi.

Beautiful post Shaavi. I'll try to put forth my point of view too.

My mum told me that during the early days of her marriage, my dad's family ill-treated her pretty much to the same extent Dixits did with Sona, with Dev being mostly completely unaware of whatever was happening. The day my maternal grandparents came to know about it, they went and talked to my Dad. This did cause some misunderstanding between my parents and their families initially, but after that talk, my dad was a changed man, He shifted to a new home so that my mum wouldn't be facing any problems. Slowly and steadily, the relationship between the families started improving. After few years, my mum went out of the country to meet her siblings and their families. My maternal grandparents came to stay with us at that point of time (which was 4 months). The talks that happened between them was what really bridged the gap between my dad and his in-laws, On the other hand, my paternal grandparents never really made an effort to have a healthy relationship with my mum. Instead, they constantly tried to break my parent's marriage. But after shifting, I and my sister literally stopped having the conversation with them and both of us moved outside the country. It's been 10 years since I have seen my dad's family. My parents keep visiting them, and my dad can now never stop praising my mum in front of his family.

In fact, I actually find Devakshi's story very similar to what my parents have gone through. When Asha locked Bijoy and Dev in the room, I was really glad as that was the first time Dev and Bijoy really had a conversation. That was really the point Dev started respecting Bijoy, I am not talking about the little khitpit that keeps happening in every family, Even Bioy sorts of enjoys it. The warmth between Asha and Dev is what I see between and my maternal grandmother and my dad. Dev has now started taking a stand for Sona. He has even expressed himself in a number of ways. The only real problem at this point is Sona not venting out and her belief that her silence will set everything right. Now, either of the two has to happen in order for them to come together, Dev has to shft to a new house so that the trio (Sona, Soha and Dev) can spread their wings and live freely. Or Sona has to open up in front of Dev so that he knows what exactly she feels and has gone through.

To add to this, remember the first time Devakshi fought after confession? It was because Dev had given a job to Ranveer. I really loved how Dev realised he was at fault and came to Sona's place to accept his mistake, ask for forgiveness. He also told that they will have differences and arguments. The thing with Dev is, once he realises his mistake, he goes to any extent to rectify it. However, with Sona, she has trapped herself with the idea of perfection which will be broken by Dev only.

Wow Sona. I am glad that you exactly knows where you went wrong. I hope to see your efforts to correct those mistakes the way dev is doing now.

Personal space - This is exactly where she failed. After her marriage she was so busy in winning best bahu race in between she forgot the importance of weaving her own happy world with dev. Eventhough he tried for this so many times, she always dragged either ishwari or bijoy or some one else in to that circle. As a husband and wife, the first and foremost thing they should have done is creating their own inner circle where only these two are allowed. Every one that includes his mom, her dad and even their kids should not be allowed in to that inner circle. That solely belongs to them where every silly and serious thing they can share with each other. I hope this is her baby steps towards her realization. Would like to see more of it.

@ Rekha

As much as Dev needed to be the bridge between Ishwari and Sonakshi, Sona needed to be the bridge between Dev and Bijoy. This is something that she has not realized yet. Unless she realizes this and corrects Bijoy's misconceptions, nothing that Dev will do will be of real help. Sonakshi has to face herself if there is to be any future for Devakshi.

Totally agree with you Rekha. I also feel the same. As long as Sona won't remove Bijoy's misconceptions, nothing will work in favour of Dev I feel. I am not including Sonakshi here because till now she did nothing to clear his mind leave alone resurrecting their broken marriage

. Yes she did help Iswari get rid of her gruesome torture that she endured since a long time. Sonakshi always held Iswari in high esteem. Though she blamed Dev for being a mama's boy she is the one who loved his mama as intensely as Dev himself.

Sonakshi always desired a place in Iswari's heart and ironically she achieved it not as her Bahu but just as Sonakshi Bose.

To my surprise Sonakshi who always tried to clear Iswari's misconceptions and win her goodwill never really bothered about her father who is also nourishing his prolonged grudge towards Dev. She should address Bijoy's misconceptions about everything that went sour in her relationship with Dev. She should enlighten him that Dev only is not responsible for her broken marriage.

Even when Bijoy asked her to ascertain that nothing exists between her and Dev,she chose to keep mum and assure him of no such bonding between them. I feel Bijoy would definitely listen to her explanation even though he may have his own take after listening to her. But Sonakshi should try it atleast in my view.

Otherwise every time a get together happens Bijoy will look like the odd man out spoiling the fun and grumbling under his breath. I don't hold Bijoy completely responsible for the situation. Sonakshi needs to rise up to the occasion.

We know Iswari and Bijoy are responsible for the break up and nothing will fall in place till both of them change their outlook towards Dev and Sona.

I am happy Dev is doing it with his mother what Sonakshi could not do with her father. He is discussing Sonakshi with Iswari and helping her understand her own perspective . He is driving her slowly towards realising what Sonakshi meant to her ,to him and to Dixit family.

I hope Sonakshi pools up her courage, yes I say so because she looks apprehensive before Bijoy to discuss her heartfelt feelings towards Dev. I am not saying that she should convince him for their remarriage but I definitely would like Sonakshi to redeem Dev from the misconceptions that Bijoy held towards him.

I hope to see such things happen. Nothing wrong in wishing for the best to happen.

Inspite of the busy weekend time, came here as I couldn't resist myself from giving my views or comments, especially to the following.
@dlavanya - When many pro-Ishwari people like me were finding it a lil bit difficult to accept this FF mode of Ishwari's realisation, you have explained it wonderfully. And this coming from a person who I felt was pro-Sona, makes it more beautiful. Thank you dear for this post.

@sweetyidiot - We have already conversed outside this thread already. However, welcome to this thread and 👍🏼 for sharing your own experiences to help us understand Sona more. But, would like to disagree on the Bijoy part, as it is clearly shown many times that Bijoy always wanted his daughter to be in the perfect zone & only adored by everyone.

@Shaavi - Aap aajkal Sona ke peeche pade ho. I am getting your thoughts on you want to see Sona expressing herself. But, what I would say is that, in the process of getting her pour out her feelings, we are missing the changes that has happened already in her thought process. In Monday episode, we already saw one such change, when she tells Dev that she now understands that, whenever he tries to divert a topic by insulting her or by shouting at her, that means he was hiding something and he didn't want to share it with anyone. Secondly, the way she was dealing with Bijoy through out the whole week, I don't think puraana Sona would have done. She joined with others when they were pulling his leg and literally teasing him. To be frank, though Bijoy's behaviour was irritating, I didn't like the fact that nobody thought of him, not even Sona, when they were about to enter IN. Also, the way she was asking Bijoy (in a sarcastic way) in front of others, whether she can go or does he have more questions is not something a papa's girl would do. Thirdly, the way yesterday she was making Elena understand the need of personal space between partners is another progress in Sona's character. So, in wake of all these, I feel Sona's realisation & acceptance of her faults will be showed only slowly by the makers. And regarding she not agreeing to Dev about her fear of darkness can't be equated to her hiding the business or Soha thing. It was something like she wanted to get pampered by Dev; but wanted Dev himself understand it. I myself use to do it with my hubby. So I can identify with Sona here.😊

Thanks for jelifying with my rantings. Cya later. Bye.

When we like someone or something whatever we do, see we try to associate with them. Yesterday I watched movie "Sachin a billion dreams, it goes without saying fantabulous story about the legend we all love. But the reason for the post it not that. Throughout the movie Sachin couldn't thank enough his brother who according to him is his greatest strength/inspiration and summed up his gratitude by saying "we saw the dream together and achieved it also. I could connect Sachin's gratitude to his brother to Dev-Ishwari. Ishwari always reminded (read it as emotionally blackmailed) Dev the role played by his family in his success and he has to be grateful for the help rendered. I being a democratic and spiritual person used to get miffed with that. Because I always believe if someone achieves success it's their hard work and determination, if someone helps you in that process, they have been instrumental in getting us to achieve, if not them someone else would have helped. Because I believe success and failure are pre-determined and it is based on our past karma. Except a few, majority of the people expects others to remember their "ehsan. So yesterday's movie reinstated my belief that this is an accepted norm in the society hence defying it will be looked down by the society. In every walk of his life Dev is bound by the ehsaan done by his family members to reach where he is today. It is well accepted in society if that person looses his personal happiness and joyful life to show his gratitude. This is the reason why people like Dev wouldn't mind to be called as "mumma's boy rather than "jhoru ka gulam. This is why I don't expect Dev to retaliate to RR and her Red even if their misdeeds are exposed. They are bound by their responsibilities and their hands are tied, unless the person/s who have captivated them free them, they will live with their self-imposed restrictions.

Whereas Sona's situation is different. She has defied her parents once for Dev. By doing so she brought shame for the family in spite of which they approved her choice and granted her wish. Being an intelligent girl she understood unless she is been accepted by Ishwari, her stake in Dixit household is very shaky. She has accepted Dev with all his flaws, and was well aware that Dev cannot openly support her. So it wasn't a mission to achieve "best bahu ka pageant as a young smart girl who was a "go-getter" throughout her life she thought this mission can also be well accomplished. Alas she wasn't aware of the opponents' strength and convolutedness as well as the reticence of her ally (Dev) whom she expected to support her in difficulties. We act according to our beliefs and perceptions, if she had been in Neha's situation, if Ranveer comes to talk to her, she would have readily sorted out the misunderstandings. (This is what precisely Sohana told Dev that if you called mumma she must have told you everything about us). When her intrusion in Neh-Ranveer issue utterly failed she accepted her folly, though the failure was more because of Neha's stubbornness or lack of moral suasion given out to Neha by the elders in the family. She was either blocked by others in all her acts or taunted by the family members. The impact was so palpable when she was completely broken by a small act by Ishwari when she asked Sona to decide menu on Dev's birthday. Alas the poor girl wasn't aware that her MIL is giving her the privilege as a return gift because her husband has confided to his mom how incapable he is in managing his own wardrobe and sought her help and asked her to keep it a secret from his wife. This act kind of gave assurance to Ishwari that still she holds a pivotal position in her son's life. The insults and humiliation she faced at Diixt's reached to its culmination during the infertility track. Even at that juncture her soulmate couldn't give her the care/concern what is normally expected. (I absolutely understand Dev here, Im not blaming him at all, because what assurance he gave to her in their privacy this is the maximum he can give) In spite of all these coupled with the recent humiliation like locking her up in the office, tying her to the door etc...(there are many more as I don't watch the S2 episodes more than once I am unable to remember) she absolved Ishwari from her sin. If you think this is not a noble act then what could be a definition for noble and generous act?

Coming to hiding her real-self, it's not to keep up the perfection stature it is more to get the pampering from the other party as rightly pointed out by Grace and Charu. I believe if Dev can give her a conclusive proof and restore confidence in her that she will not be thrown out from his life second time, she will easily free herself from the promise given to her father. Because she knows her father will understand her if she is sure about what she does. Right now she is denying a second chance to Dev keeping her promise to her father as an excuse only, the moment Dev wins her trust and confidence, just like what she did on her engagement day, she will free herself and run into his arms.

But on the other hand I do want to see that sometimes Sona can meet Dev where he is at. That if sometimes he can't be a bridge between his mother and her.. she isn't going to hold it against him. Or if he doesn't want to live the life that she wants him to live.. she respects his right to a choice.

I am so happy that Sona bumped into her swing today... because I think she should realize too that dealing with her and her choices wasn't easy either.

I am with both of you Shaavi and mallika. At this point of time there is nothing Dev should prove. He said sorry ,he attributed everything on himself,he addressed Iswari's issues by freely discussing Sonakshi's importance in their life.
If a situation demands he will definitely reach out to Bijoy and try to win his heart without any ego.

He is helping Sonakshi unveil her mask slowly but surely. That's it. Nothing more is needed . Dev proved himself. He is magnanimous enough to support Sona even if she moves away from him to honour her father's wish. What more can I expect from him? Nothing Dev. Just relax.

@Lakshmi there is no doubt about Dev's magnanimity and generosity...he was epitome of magnanimity pre and post marriage also... he doesn't have to validate it even in the post breakup because sonakshi is well aware of his love and understanding...what went wrong in their relationship was during a critical situation he couldn't reach upto her expectations or in other words she was left alone to fight against all demons...if a similar situation comes again whether Dev would be the pillar of support for sonakshi is highly uncertain...in finance theory we classify people into those who love risk, averse risk and hedge risk. When she married Dev, she was aware that she is marrying someone's CHAND how can he be her SUN...so Sonakshi couldn't averse risk as she let her decisions controlled by her emotions rather than intellect...now she is hedging the risk because she knows entering into Dev's life again means lots of risky propositions...it's not Dev but the inmates of IN have to change...but her short stay has proved that they are in the same spot as she left them 7 years back only change is they have become stronger and powerful...more over now whatever decisions she takes the repercussions will be on many innocent lives like Soha, Golu and her sister Elena. Sonakshi knows her future with Dev will be BLEAK unless some of the residents of IN leave or the permanent residents change their attitude...she is ready to wait...here a feasible outcome for everyone would be what you suggested in your short story...Vicky and his parents leave to Mumbai forever...
