Mahhi Vij believes her kids will be proud of her & Jay for separating in a 'respectful way': 'A great example'

Reports of Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali's divorce has been making headlines for months now. While the couple did not earlier comment on the same, they recently announced their divorce on their respective Instagram handles. The couple has time and again urged that they are good friends and they will remain good friends despite parting ways. However, like every celebrity separation, Jay and Mahhi too have been subjected to their share of online criticism, trolling, name calling and rumours. From claims of Mahhi's 5 Crore alimony to Jay cheating on her, social media has taken the 'speculation' game quite high this time.

Reacting to the same, Mahhi has shut down all sorts of speculations and has strongly reacted to pretty much all the rumours. In one of her Youtube vlogs recently, the 'Seher Hone Ko Hai,' fame says she and Jay have decided to 'mutually' part ways and that they are 'peaceful' people. ''Yes, I am separated from Jay. We are divorced, but we remain good friends. Hum log dono waise bane hai ki hum dono kaafi peaceful log hain. Hum logo ko drama, jhagde, ladai ya gandagi pasand nahi hai. Hum dono ne mutually decide kia kia its better hum log apne apne raaste jaaye,'' she says.

Mahhi calls the decision to mutually part ways a 'good example' for her kids and says, ''I read a lot in the comment section, like ‘Why did you adopt kids?’ or ‘Why did you give birth to a child?’ Yaar, humara bank account nahi khaali hua hai. Hum bachho ko dekh sakte hain. Aur aisa nahi hai ki Jay bhag gaya, ya mere paas kuch nahi hai. All three kids will still live the way they have. I think for the kids also it is a great example that if things don’t work out, that doesn’t mean you make things ugly or drag another person to court. I feel my kids will feel proud of both Jay and me, that it’s okay, mom and dad decided they didn’t want to continue, but they did it in a respectful way.''

Reacting and then dismissing reports of taking '5 Crore alimony' from Jay, the actress calls these reports sad. She says, ''I’m reading things like ‘Mahhi took 5 crore in alimony.’ People are pulling out old videos just for likes and comments. It’s so sad. It’s very sad because our parents and kids also see Instagram.''

Finally reacting to people trolling 'divorce in the industry becoming a 'joke,' the actress says, ''No one likes to go through a divorce. There’s no drama here. People are saying it’s become a joke in this industry. No, it hasn’t become a joke in our industry. Divorces are happening outside too. They’re happening everywhere. At least we handled it in a nicer way.''
