@Sam, When some thing goes wrong in our lives, we need to do introspection and while doing that what question we ask ourselves precisely decides our future course of action. Here I think Sona asked herself How can he did this to me? instead of why he did this to me? Just my 2 cents.😊
Instead of introspecting at all, I think she just let herself be guided by Bijoy's view of the world. He declared that this happened because Dev was spineless, but Sona was too blinded by her love to see it at first. She bought into Bijoy's perspective, I think, because she was just too tired to think on her own and continue empathising with, and accomodating Dev's behaviour. It was much easier to paint Dev and Ishwari as villains, and feel validated as the ideal daughter, fighting agianst the world for her father's honour. She excels at that, and Sona's personality is such that she needs to excel to be content in herself.
Tangential point: To be very honest, I didn't totally understand why the money had to be repaid in the first place. Dev made an investment in their company, and as a result, would have been entitled to a share of their profits. Sona and the Boses didn't actually do anything wrong, and Dev was well aware of this, so they should have stood by this conviction and demanded an apology from Ishwari and GKB. Instead they seemed to validate the accusation by returning the money, just so that "people" wouldn't talk. To my eyes, that doesn't really hold up to the high moral standards the Boses preach; it's more a question of ego.
I don't think it would have come to that for Sona, but for the accidental slap. In that moment she proved that the only reason she comes off more sorted than Dev is because her family is more supportive. Put in a similar position to the one he found himself in almost all the time -- between antagonistic parent and spouse -- she reacted just as impulsively. It's a different story that those ill-advised financial decisions, and Dev's pompous mansplaining, gave her the fire to become much more accomplished than she might have been otherwise, but that doesn't take away how hasty her actions really were.
What Dev needs to learn has been talked about to no end, and I agree with what everyone says. But what I really want to see for Sona's introspection is her recognising and checking her immense privilege. She has always had, and still has, a family who stands by her and gives her 200% and that is where so much of her fortitude comes from. Dev has nobody but himself to rely on, and a family that takes 200% from him, so is it really a wonder that he isn't as strong she is? Basically, I would love to see more introspection and less judgment, both from Sona and Bijoy.
This new format is addictive. 😛
