More thoughts. (Sorry can't stop once I start)
Golu is filling sonakshi's void for dev. Firstly he is half a Bose. Secondly he is a boy like sonakshi wanted. So Golu is to Dev what soha is to Sona. And, he keeps his promise to Golu and reaches the school in time for the meeting. Also like sonakshi, Golu was unplanned and unexpected to that house. (Season 1 the day Ishwari went missing and gkb asked elena for the varis I knew she will give them the baby the Dixits need). Dev's signature neck flick, only sona used to get that. And now Junior got it
So don't stop at all! 😃
I loved this. It really shows how Sona and Dev, even in their separation are connected in deep ways. Dev has the tiny Mr. Obodhro that Sona wanted, and Sona the tiny Ms. Kharghosh of Dev's dreams. They need to meet again to find the missing parts of themselves these kids represent.
The one thing I really hope for, which would go against the usual cliches: it should not be shown that Sona is a perfect parent who has to teach Dev how to be one. I like that they brought Golu in, to show that Dev has been experiencing parenting as well, just not in a traditional sense. I would like to see Dev deal with Golu's poor performance in school in a mature way, and possibly help him along.
This brings me to an idea that hit me as I woke up this morning (yes, this is how much I think about this "inconsequential" piece of fiction!), and that is the role that expectations will play. In yesterday's episode, we saw that Sona has a meticulous plan for how this Delhi trip will go. If she spoke to Suhana so honestly and was prepared even to give her Dev's number, it's clear that Sona has put a lot of thought into this moment, As casually as she might say she has to go for business purposes. she has prepared herself thorougly... but for the Dev that she left behind.
In the first season of their love story, Sona's attraction to Dev began when he defied her expectations. She had him pinned as a spoilt, rich brat, and gave him a full-on lecture about how hard it was to be middle class, little knowing that the way she grew up was downright luxurious from Dev's perspective. He challenged the worldview that seemed to be so unshakeable, and that is precisely where Sona's love took root. Now once again, she has had time to grow rigid in an "unshakeable" worldview, as evidenced by her little spiel about time, and once again, Dev will be the one to challenge it.
And I am guessing that Golu will play a big role here. Sona will come, expecting to find Dev exactly the same as she left him. His outer-transformation will assure her that, actually, he's even worse. Just when she heaves a sigh of relief, thinking she's totally over it, she will be exposed to this unexpected side of Dev... this kind, tender, paternal side that made sure, even in all his cynicism, that an unwanted little boy didn't feel unloved and neglected.
And BAM... Kuch kuch hota hai 😳
(I have a feeling this is going to be a recurring reference 😆)
