True the Bose family as a unit is strength , their closeness and family bonding makes them a happy and joyful family
coming to Bijoy he never really liked Dev the only time his opinion changed was when he went to Dev's office and saw the generous side of Dev .
Bijoy at this point was awed and suddenly felt there is no man like Dev the reason he was there held no importance now from totally disliking someone to suddenly in a minute having respect for him is all a bit clich
when Sona would complain against Dev it was Bijoy that explained to her Dev loves her and he is a good man but he himself never truly believed it
when Dev and Sona broke up it was Bijoy imposing his decision on his daughter to marry someone else as now his ego grew ten folds more , he knew both Dev and Sonakshi were always in love but he chose to ignore that important fact .
Bijoy knows the Dixits have a different culture yet he demands his culture to be respected while he royally ignores the Dixit's culture which is totally wrong .

Bijoy never wanted Sonakshi sacrificing or never allowed her to make her decisions on her own as a married woman he always imposed on her yes making it look like sound advice
Sonakshi was always torn between her father and her married life

Finally managed to catch with the thread..Wohoo am burning midnight oil, looks like leap has done the trick to bring my madness back in forum😆

Sam, DQ, Payalji, Latha : some excellent observation and points friends👏 Loved reading them.

My 2 cents :

Both are equally responsible and I pity both for being blinded with the manipulations and falling for deceiving tricks. As someone stated here (sorry all posts are jumbled in my mind and I don't remember the member name😆) when a couple starts to please an outsider taking the love and freedom in their relationship for granted, the crack will be inevitable in long run as they will slowly loose their identity of true love for each other and only compromises are left to pick.

According to me the place Dev lost it was when he asked Sona to "Get out and stay away from his mother" after the accidental fall of Ishwari. He was quite adamant even after Sona repeatedly confirming him in disbelief. Because just before that Sona tells him Ishwari wishes their separation (though mataji cleverly chewed her words to maintain her innocence still creating the necessary impact) and Dev should have realized what his "Get out" would meant to Sona that time. He can't always expect the other one to be understanding when she is pushed to all edges and her fairy tale is threatened to have some uncanning end.

The place where Sona lost it was when she didn't pick up Dev's in numerous call after the slapfast and her indifference to his repeated plea of help to correct the situation. I do understand she was there for her father's self respect but the Sona we knew would have pacified Dev and informed of her stand of returning the money back. Am sure Dev would have understood and stood by her and even convinced her of taking care of that loan at her free will with his support by her side. Instead she brought that check to prove a point knowing very well Dev's helplessness in that slap incident.

Both these incidents were not steered by any third parties but in turn taken with their own conscience and in sober state which paved way to destruction. Now the rest was a piece of cake for Vicky and GKB.

Now both have started fresh from where they left , Sona a strong businesswoman and a compatible mother who was accused of lack of knowledge in finance and incapability in motherhood. Dev a carefree reckless flirt who was cursed of not finding a single sole of solace and freedom.

Both changed to prove a point but to each other or themselves is the question to be answered in coming eps😉

@Payal: I think Dev was hesitant at that moment because he knew it would come off like he was supporting the Boses against Ishwari. He had just been pardoned for another huge lie, and he knew that Ishwari would read this the wrong way, which she did. He was hesitant, not to say the Boses were faultless, but to confess that he had concealed something again. True, Ishwari was wrong and the Boses right, but he was more concerned with dissipating the tension than telling the truth at that moment: that's Dev, always has been. I really don't believe that anyone could have shut either GKB or Bijoy up that day, and people did try. Dev doesn't have as much power over his family as people tend to assume... he is also trying his best to keep everyone happy and calm.

No denying that Dev was partially to blame, especially with his history of large-scale deception, just pointing out the other factors at work.

@Jade: Yup, it always seemed like a foregone conclusion for Bijoy that Sona and Dev would eventually break up. He was very similar to Ishwari in that way, and both of them created a self-fulfilling prophecy. I think there was a moment, before the break-up when Bijoy genuinely liked Dev, but that was because he thought Dev conformed to his idea of a perfect match for his daughter. Once Dev showed that he didn't measure up in certain areas, Bijoy was ready to drop him like a hotcake in favour of Ritwick, who was perfect on paper (who knows what time would have revealed there too; nobody is perfect). But love doesn't work that way. That's why I say Bijoy needs to check his privilege; he's very lucky to have a wonderful mother and wife, both of whom love him and love each other. They never forced him to question himself, and honestly, it doesn't seem like he had to put in any special effort for it to work out that way. Dev was not so lucky; he put in much more work for much less satisfactory results. Bijoy's pride is based on outrunning Dev in a race where Dev was wearing extra weights on his legs. I am not saying Dev is flawless, but he deserves a fair assessment.

@Deepa: I loved your 2 cents and completely agree about the places where Sona and Dev respectively lost the last threads of their relationship. Dev was unfair to expect Sona's patience and understanding to stretch infinitely, but Sona should have given him an idea of how far it had been stretched, and how close she was to snapping. And that is what I loved about the break-up. The foundation was laid by the couple themselves, allowing third parties only to come in and finish the formalities.

Prove a point both to each other and themselves, I suppose! After all, I don't believe they have stopped being part of each other even after all these years.

@Latha (was about to ask your name myself, so thanks for telling me!), I just saw the segment as well and I couldn't be more excited. [SPOILER] The part that stood out the most is when Dev said he wasn't going to shed tears anymore; he was going to take care of himself and be happy. This makes me even more excited to meet the new and improved Dev Dixit.

But poor Sona, she is all prepared to arrive in Delhi and find Mr. Obodhro Devdas. This is going to completely catch her off guard. 😲

Kuch kuch zaroor hoga 😉

Thanks for sharing your views everyone.

I am going to talk about the lack of closure on season 1. I am glad they released that spoiler because I was constantly thinking about closure on one main thing - Dev's perception of his relationships. I can now move on and get some real work done like cooking for the family and writing that report at work. Ha!

So, we all noted how things were left dangling in the air. We all knew season 2 will hold answers to our numerous questions. To me however, the biggest question was answered by proxy - the prenup. Now many of you will know I claim to be a hopeless romantic. I also held the opinion and still do, that (especially for high net worth individuals like Dev) the prenup is a necessary evil. In my view, Dev & Sonakshi should have signed it and gotten on with their married life. However, Friday the 13th Jan gave me my answer and the spoiler confirmed it. It wasn't the prenup that was the problem for Dev, it was the assumptions that Sonakshi and Dev will split at some point and that Sonakshi is marrying Dev for his money that made it just wrong for Dev. To him (and to Sonakshi. Recall their conversation in the restaurant while the Boses & Dixits were meeting to discuss the wedding post-patchup), this meant you are starting the relationship on the back-foot. And backfoot Dev does not do. You see, this is where I failed to understand the confidence Dev & Sonakshi had in each other. And this is where Dev has finally questioned his mother on his decision to marry Sonakshi for his happiness. Also, here is how the God track comes into play. Till this point Dev just ignore the concept of God. He wasn't friends with God. Now he is an atheist. There is no God, not even Ishwari.

However, prenup picture ahi baaki hai mere dost (we are all becoming very filmy ever since that hum-tum night, aren't we?). That prenup was a double edged sword. Not only did it make Dev realise how big an ask it was for Ishwari to accept Sonakshi; it also nailed the devakshi coffin for (atleast) 7 years. And it also possibly gave sonakshi reason to hide their child from Dev till she is confident money is not an issue anymore between them.

I am amazed at how well the makers entwined these various tracks, carried them beautifully to the next season and make things look fresh. The old fire is still burning in Devakshi's heart and soul
