Just finished the episode, and I really enjoyed it. Certain things have remained very much the same: Sona has a strong support system to raise her baby, while, even in a house full of people more directly involved, Dev becomes the sole support system for Vicky and Elena's neglected son. This has always been the case, and one of the most important barriers to Dev and Sona's communication. They always had such different ideas of what family is, based on the ones they grew up in.
Loved how they used unrelated dialogues in the form of Asha's conversation with her Gurudev and Sona's with her wayward ex-employee to give us a recap of what has happened. It was really nicely executed. So, Sona thinks she ready to confront her past; we'll have to see how that pans out for her. She is probably expecting to find Dev just as she left him, and it'll be an interesting twist to see her reaction to his reformed avatar, if the promo is any indication!
It's clear that Suhana is a very precocious child and has wonderful relationships with her mother and grandparents. But it seems she has grown up before her time. Spouting Sona's dialogues about her precious time, and saying she doesn't like baby-talk shows that she considers herself very grown up and mature. An unlikely mirror of Dev's own childhood, perhaps? All said and done, Sona didn't open up the subject of her father until now, and now, when she is still so young, is putting such a huge decision on her shoulders. I feel some unease with that, but I do admire Sona's honesty and her continued refusal to indulge Bijoy's vitriol -- Bijoy scared me. So much bitterness after so many years!
I also loved the dialogue between Golu and Ishwari. Ishwari says that Dev hasn't returned to the house in seven years, while Golu happily reminds her that he was just here two days ago. I think this indicates that the old Dev we know and love (or hate, as the case may me for many) is still very much there for those who look without judgment; he has just chosen to manage his life a little bit differently. But Ishwari's Dev has been gone since that fateful night seven years ago and she is still holding on and waiting for his return, unable to accept his new choices. The expected irony of course is that she was scared Sona would take Dev away from her and she managed to make just that happen herself by taking Sona away from Dev.
That's it for now. I'll add more as the discussion (hopefully) continues!
