I think I am getting it a bit. The guy she calls dad is not her real dad. I think her dad is Arjun who was her mom's sweetheart and went to America.

when i started reading ur FF ur mention of poems puzzled me whether i can understand them or not...but after arohi's diary started, i cud get into the feel of the stroy..loving it in the poem way..waiting of the next page.
