How could I do this to her? To HER? The girl who stood by me through everything. She never said a word against me and my decisions. SHIT! In one night, I changed everything. Every single damn thing. I killed her. I killed her trust in me. I killed her faith in me. I killed her love for me. I killed her soul.
Prem clenched onto the glass full of whiskey tightly. Under his anger filled pressure, the glass shattered into tiny pieces. The broken pieces of glass pierced through his skin. He clenched onto it tighter as if taking the revenge on himself for hurting her so badly.
The blood oozed out of his skin and his hand was layered with bright red color of his blood. But still, he didn't feel the pain. This pain was nothing compared to the pain erupting inside him.
This whole time he was standing near the window near his room, staring out at the sky filled with glittering stars. His eyes brimmed with tears. Tears, they were for sure. Prem Juneja, the man who hated even the sight of women, had tears in his eyes. And these tears were for a girl.
As he stared at the sky, everything that happened last night flashed back into his mind. Every single thing.
Her pleading was still running through his head.
Leave me Prem. I was there for a reason. At least let me explain.
But he didn't. He didn't let her explain. He didn't control his rage. He didn't control himself. He didn't even think about controlling his actions.
Prem looked at his right hand. Seeing it caked with blood, he wasn't satisfied. With this same hand, he had pulled her by her hair. With this same hand, he had slapped her several times. With this same hand, he had scratched her soft skin. He couldn't take it anymore.
His gaze shifted to the large mirror hanging on the wall in his room. He stared at his own reflected, but not for long. After what he did, he wasn't able to meet eyes with himself. He had never felt this sick about himself before.
Disgusted by his own reflection, he went up to the mirror and smashed his fist into the mirror. The entire mirror broke into pieces the same way Prem's heart had broken into pieces. The tears strolled down his smooth cheek. He was truly broken.
He helplessly fell onto the ground and stared at his hand, the victim of his fury and anger. The pain was something that he was not able to feel at all.
But then his eyes fell on the small frame that rested on the side table, next to his bed. He gently picked up the frame and stared at pictures captured inside. Her soft, creamy skin. Her angelic, caramel eyes. Her cute little nose. Her rosy, pink lips. Her long, silky hair. She looked perfect in that picture. Her smile made him wonder if anyone else in the world had such an adorable smile. He knew that he didn't deserve her. She deserved a man who would love her to death, who would cherish her, who would keep her happy. But he wasn't able to do either of those things, let alone keep her happy.
But now, he would never get to see her face again. He would never get to see her smile. He had filled her life with so much sorrow that he couldn't even handle it. How was she going to handle it?
With a second more, he hugged her frame and let out all her guilt.
I'm sorry Heer. I am so sorry.

She embraced the frame tightly. He was her life, her everything. But she didn't expect him to do this to her. This was the least of what she expected from him. She was always by his side. She never wanted to cause him any pain. She dearly loved him.
Then why? Why didn't he listen to her? She knew that what she did would make him mad. But she was doing it for him. Only for his happiness. She wanted to tell him that. But he was too angry and too drunk that he didn't listen.
She was sitting on the bed, at his mom's house. Seeing her horrible state this morning, she decided that she needed someone's support. Without wasting a second, she had gathered herself up, and left his house. The only support he found was his mom's house. His mom was the lady he despised the most. Prem hated her. But she didn't know who else to turn too.
After crying out her pain with the support of her comforting mother-in-law, Gayatri sent her into a room to take a quick shower.
As she took the shower, she could feel her skin sting beneath the cold water. His love bites, his slaps, his scratches had tormented her skin. He had taken all his anger out on her in such a way that it hurt her. What he did to her last night just killed her. It definitely crushed her soul in thousands of pieces. But still, she loved him. And no matter how hard she would try, but it was impossible for her to stop loving him and hate him.
After dressing herself in a simple yellow sari, she came out of the bathroom. She did feel some relief when she came out. But another rush on tears filled her eyes when she saw her reflection in the mirror. Heer walked closer to the mirror and raised her hand to feel the red bruise on her forehead. She stares at her own reflection remembering everything from last night. She saw the small scratch on her right cheek. Then she saw the bites he had given her all around her neck. Her arms were red from being scratched and squeezed. Her whole body hurt. But her heart ached so much more. As the tears strolled down her eyes, her gaze fell on the small frame on the dresser. It was a picture of him. He looked so handsome in the orange colored sherwani. It was a picture from their wedding function.

She married him because she loved him. She had loved him since childhood. They had been best friends since they were born. Even after he moved to Canada with his mom and dad, her love for him stayed the same, if not it grew. But when he came back, he was so cold. He was changed from a loving, sweet friend into a cold man who detested ALL women. Gayatri maa, his mom, had left his dad because she loved someone else. This incident had made him turn so cruel. After seeing his dad suffer, he had formed this certain hatred for his mom as well as all other women. He had lost his belief in love and trust. But when he came back to India, his dad and made him get married to her. He always listened to his dad so he did just that. He married her, but just for his father's sake. For him, Heer was just another responsibility. He never spent time with her and he was always engrossed in his work.
But she tried. She tried real hard to make him see the truth. He had to know the truth about why his mom left him and his dad. When she met his mom a few months ago, she wanted to put the truth in front of him. Gayatri Maa had always stopped her from doing this. Even though Gayatri Maa left Prem and his dad for their benefit, she knew that Prem wouldn't believe her. But last week, Heer had found proof that would justify her leaving.
Yesterday, she came to meet Gayatri Maa to show her the proof. Somehow, he ended up there and seeing Heer and his mom, he was boiling with anger without belief. He left after giving her a look full of rage. Gayatri had told Heer to leave the proof with her and to go and pacify her husband.
By the time she reached home, he was quite dark. Upon reaching the huge mansion, she looked for him everywhere. After much searching, she found him in his study, drinking. He was looking out of the window. By the look of it, she could judge that a storm was on its way. The fierce wind and the threatening thunder were warning her for the upcoming storm outside as well as in her life.

When he heard her slowly open the door, his anger went onto another level. He had strictly told her not to meet his so-called mother. Then why didn't she listen to him? How dare she do something like that? He knew how all the women were. They always wanted to have a change. New clothes, now houses, new cars, and lastly new husbands. They never knew what true love meant.
But deep down, the day he had married Heer, he had know that she was different. She sure proved him wrong today. She had turned him into a devil today. And for a second he wished that she left him alone so that she wouldn't become the victim of his raging anger.
She didn't leave. But she came closer to him. He wasn't facing her but he knew she was coming towards him. No stop himself from literally bursting at her he left the place and went to his bedroom.

She quickly followed him. She had to tell him the truth today or else he would never know the truth. When she reached the room, she saw him finishing the entire bottle of whiskey. He had his back to her. She walked closer and decided to tell him the reason behind her meeting with Gayatri Maa.
"Prem, just listen to me once. Maa did nothing. You don' know what she has gone through. It's all just a misunderstanding." Heer told him with an assuring tone.

That's it. How dare she? She was siding that woman; the woman who had ruined hi dad's life. The woman who had changed him so much! With listening to anything else, she turned around and slapped her hard across her face. H watched her fall to the ground. He threw the whiskey bottle on the floor breaking it into pieces. Then, he harshly picked her him and slammed her against the wall. Holding her tightly by the shoulders, he could see her cry out in pain. Her forehead had started to bleed from the fall and her arms were turning red from his strong hold. Seeing those questioning eyes filled with tears, for a second, he released her. But then, the death of his father flashed back in her mind and he gripped her again. As the images of his father ran around his mind, he threw Heer onto the bed. He saw her sit up straight and crawl back slowly as he approached her. But he wasn't in his senses. He was totally drunk and the only thing running around his head was mother's betrayal. And SHE was siding that woman.
He took off his coat and jumped right on her. He could hear her scream and plead as he pulled her, squeezed her, harshly scratched her soft skin, bit her, and kissed her. Her let out all his anger, his frustration, and his hatred on her. He raped her.

She sat on the bed, hugging her legs, her head down, crying. He could have just listened to her. What did she do wrong? She did what she did for him. Then why?
Heer let out her tears. She let out her pain, her sorrow, and her agony. But in her right hand, she was holding onto her mangalsutra, close to her heart. As she let out her pain, she could only whisper.
Why didn't you listen to me? Why Prem?
