I was going through some forum topics and many are like 'There must be some GOOD reason behind Heer hiding Chahat from Prem' and everything. Even I believed that there was some major reason and now, that I was thinking it over, the reason that Heer hid Chahat from Prem is PREM!
The way Heer understands Prem, she is afraid of Prem. She knows that whatever Prem does/thinks of doing, he does it, no matter what happens and he does it to the extreme.
spot on! totally agreed! heer knows her prem very well indeed. i think there is something else. even now. but i'm also one of those who thinks that what heer feels about prem today, holds, whether that reason is there or not.
And her examples are:
i think there a lot more reasons for heer to know of prem's extreme-ness. but not sure they really matter.
And now she left Prem 6 years back, cus she 'thought' he had slept with Ash, and we know what the truth is. And now, you expect her to trust Prem, just when he didn't trust her?
y'know?i think of this differently.
first off -- she didn't just ''think'' it. prem told her so. we'll never know what might've happened if prem hadn't told her and (maybe) ashlesha had told her instead.
secondly, i figured another way of thinking about this -- and the thought was something that triv planted into my head. she said that heer should never go back to prem as long as he didn't leave jzoo. and i think that's the crux of the matter.
ever since heer accepted prem as her prem, she had never - not even once, i think? - doubted prem. but prem had gone through more than one instance when he had
- kept things from heer - ''how he was dealing with veera/ratpal'' (the first time he promised never to keep anything from her), ''sanjana''
- questioned heer and acted on that doubt - what nihaal had done to veera, going along with gaali-maa when she told prem to choose between heer and family (ie, her), that horribly public denouncement of what she thought was the purest thing she ever had to offer prem.
and through all that, heer never had even the slightest thought that these were big enough to give up on prem and prem-heer-are-one. the funny thing about heer is that she never ever thought to completely give up on prem -- often never even question him about it! -- until prem told her that he hadsexwithashlesha.
it makes me smile to think that it took prem telling her to actually make heer accept that prem might not love her in that ridiculously pure way that she loved him.
but once that is done, she had made up her mind that she and prem cannot be. and her attitude towards chahat and prem was then completely understandable (at least to me). if prem was someone that she would not accept in her life, then why would she want a beloved child to accept him, just 'cause he is the child's biological father?
the irony of your post is that it made me realise that if we/heer thinks of prem as extreme, heer is more extreme.
she was extreme in her worship of prem. she is now extreme in staying away from prem. one of the things that made me irritated about what prem said to gi-it and heer yesterday - that he hoped gi-it will treat him as human rather than a god. heer had always treated prem as a god. maybe it's not what makes for a life of together-ness in today's world. but i think it had a lot to do with the whole idea and essence of prem-heer-are-one. prem-heer-are-one was built not just on the day that prem announced it grandly to the world. it could've broken at many points in between. it stayed firmly in place largely through a lot of things that heer did after that. and things that heer made prem do after that. 😊
brings me back to the whole ramayan idea: sita kept away from ram after he told her to leave. if ram could do that public denouncement of everything that sita thought was the most pure and sincere thing she could offer to him, then the relationship was too weak for her to accept. she brought up his sons. and after they had met each other and understood they loved each other, she let her sons go to ram. but she never did.
kinda like heer just now.
i'm w&w in some interest to see what happens to prem and heer -- our two beloved mr. extreme and mz. more-extreme -- next. 😆
personally, whatever they choose to do, i think i'm gonna be okay with it. 'cause so far? they've not really let me down. 😃
